Really enjoyed the meal. I had the sea bass which was fantastic. Also tried a pasta from the specials menu which was good. The bread (2 types) was excellent. Service was good. We sat talking for over two hours on week night and there was no pressure to leave. I would definitely come back. I wanted a restaurant not too far from Columbia University and this was a good choice.
Mezzogiorno was as good as always. Excellent pasta, seafood, good wines for good value.... We come here often pre- and post- theater and concerts and we're always very pleased with the food, the ambiance, the service.
Wonderful staff. Delicious food.
I've eaten at Mezzogiorno several times. I've always enjoyed the food, but on some occasions the restaurant has been very noisy. This time, I dined with a friend early on a Monday evening and the restaurant was neither crowded nor noisy. The food was very good and the service courteous, friendly, and efficient. I expect I'll return to Mezzogiorno before long.
The food was surprisingly good, grilled vegetables and prosciutto and pear to start. All the pastas were good as well as tasty risotto and braised beef. The service as friendly and the wind quite good and reasonable.
The y have a very friendly and welcoming staff. We enjoy the half-price on wine (by the bottle) Wednesdays. The food is consistently good and the wait staff and manager ensure everyone is happy. Great neighborhood restaurant.
We had the worst waitress with absolutely no personality or congeniality. Food was mediocre and overpriced.
I’ve been here several times with a friend who’s very particular about what he eats. He lives in Brooklyn but doesn’t mind the trip. From several neighborhood choices, this is my favorite.
Excellent food and good ambience, prices are a little expensive but worth it, in front of the sea , a good experience!
We live across the street and have been here a few times. The pizza and all the pasta dishes we've had our outstanding, as is the Tiramisu. Last Friday, my husband got the mixed seafood grill, and it was both healthy and delicious. I had the branzino, which could have been a bit more flavorful, especially the vegetables on the side, which were steamed, but bare. Of course, it was a healthy choice! But I'd get the lasagna (so, SO good) or any of the pizzas...the pasta with wild boar sauce is also a winner. They also have great, affordable wines, and make wonderful martinis. All this, coupled with the great service, and it's an A restaurant in the neighborhood!
Charming host. Excellent chef. Convenient location UWS!
This place could be so much better but it just isn’t. Their pizza is good but their salads and entrees are flavorless. Brnaxibo woth mixed vegetables should have flavor and it had zero. The service was friendly but not attentive. We waited a long time between water availability which is disappointing. Going out to dinner should be more than functional.
Despite the fact that the first wine we chose was unavailable, and the pizza oven was not on for the night, still had an enjoyable dinner. Food was delicious, perfect portions.
Great service, good food and wine. My grandson loved to see how pizza is made. Friendly and accomodating staff. Wil come back.
The food at Mezzogiorno is very good, very authentic Italian. The decor and physical appearance leaves something to be desired. We took some people for our of town for dinner and my husband was very embarrassed with the restaurant. The owners should improve the looks to look like less of a coffee shop as the prices are not coffee shop prices. We are very surprised that it is not made to look more like an upscale restaurant. Is it the fact that it is on 108th and Broadway? We need upscale restaurants on the Upper Westside.
Truly a neighborhood gem. Very pleasant atmosphere (marble top tables). Smallish menu, but pretty high quality. Decent wine list. Friendly service.
Food was very good and service was excellent! Nice place in the neighborhood.
excellent authentic northern italian food in a not particularly inviting or cozy setting.
Not recommended. The UWS location is convenient, the place is comfortable, the prices okay for a neighborhood dinner, and the service okay, but the food is disappointing. A seafood platter consisted of small, bland shrimp, a watery scallop, and a mysterious strip of grilled chicken (?!), all reminiscent of cafeteria food. A request to replace grilled tomato--an odd side dish in November-with vegetables was handled nicely, but the vegetables, like the seafood, had no taste or appeal. What's needed is someone to compose and execute dishes worthy of the location, and that includes finding good suppliers. Until then, there are better options.
It's a pleasant place, but extremely noisy, so we will not return for dinner.
Best Italian for miles in any direction. And we're talking Manhattan!
Went to Mezzogiorno again the other day for pizza and was dismayed to find that they'd changed the menu. Our favorite pizza, "Regina," with mozzarella bufala, was gone. So was a great artichoke salad. We were grateful that at the remaining pizzas hadn't changed in quality, but -- why? Why change something good?
We loved this restaurant when it was done south. When they moved up to the present locale we followed. However, poor poor service and it is in the middle of nowhere for travelers. Sorry to say.
Awesome, authentic Italian food. Wonderful service, made a friend's birthday really special.
Always great food, service and drinks
The lasagna is always delicious and the chicken with potatoes and spinach was very good. Hazelnut chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream ended the meal very well. Nice atmosphere and good service.
I particularly liked the calamari appetizer. It was fresh and zesty. There is am emphasis on combining leafy greens into otherwise normally less textured plates, like fresh frizee with veal and arugula with pasta. Next time I will try a pizza.
Well portioned and flavorful! We cant wait to try the pizza
Eggplant fritters lacked any notion of eggplant. Pastas were quite good and properly cooked. Service was very attentive and well meaning if a bit inexperienced.
Ambiance in the outter room is lacking. Is in need of a renovation.
Fantastic, as always. Have been coming to Mezzogiorno's since 1999, when it was on Spring Street. My Employer took me there for lunch to welcome me to the firm. My first job after graduating. Had the Lasagna Bolognese and haven't stopped coming back for it since. My favorite/only Lasagna to eat out in all of NYC.
So happy they moved to this neighborhood. A wonderful addition. Always a great meal with professional and friendly staff.
One of our favorites in Upper Manhattan for reliably good pastas, salads and good conversation with friends.
Food was delicious! Nice table - great for conversation.
It was the birthday of an old friend and he is very fussy about what he eats. We've eaten here a few times (very tasty pasta dish) but this time I tried something new. It was beautifully presented and delicious. I finished it, something I rarely do when I eat out. I hope they stay around for a long time. Bravissimo!
Innovative Italian food served with pride and kindness. Desserts were especially good, particularly the ricotta cheesecake.
$17 cocktails? Are they kidding? They trained the waitresses to talk up the special cocktails that are not listed with a price. Very deceptive. Service was very slow and inattentive even though the restaurant was empty when we arrived. We shared a strip steak and caprese salad. Both were very good and plentiful. So one can get a good meal at high prices if willing to put up with the negatives.
Always delicious. Service and staff always pleasant and comfortable. Highly recommended
My meal was a lit lackluster in the taste department and I will probably not be going back.
Delicious food at a reasonable price; good service, comfortable and friendly. One of our go-to spots!
I had dinner there with a close friend who lives in the neighborhood. We usually prefer to have lunch at Mezzogiorno because it can be quite noisy in the evening. However, it wasn't very crowded and the host put us at a table in a relatively quiet corner. The food was very good (all three courses) and the service fine. I had a cup of plain old regular coffee (not espresso or cappucino) at the end of the meal and I'd have to say it was the best coffee I've had in a restaurant in a long time.
