First time there, great space will go there again.
The service was very slow and inattentive. We had leftovers boxed up for us and they were not brought back to the table until we asked the server what had happened to them.
We had the chef’s selection meat and cheese plate which was very good. The only critique is that they don’t give enough bread (or any crackers) on the side. It was also light on the cheese - only 3 cheese types, despite 6 meat types. I would prefer more cheese and less meat next time. We ordered pizzas for the table and shared and they were excellent. One had pizza and sausage and the other mozzarella, yellow heirloom tomatoes, and summer squash. I love the pizza at Mezzo. The service was great and respectful of the fact that we had show tickets and were under a tight timeline.
The entire experience was wonderful. We started with the Chef’s Selection Charcuterie Board. A delicious selection of meats, cheeses, and breads. Our entrees were fresh and delicious and brought out in just the right timing after allowing us plenty of time to enjoy the charcuterie. Our server was wonderful and made sure to ask if we had any food allergies. The restaurant itself is beautiful - from the open air when the big glass windows are open to the style and design of the space. We so enjoyed our visit and felt it was worth the price to treat ourselves!
It took a little while to be served at first but when we were, our server was great and the food was outstanding. We had a wonderful time!
It was a fun place to try. The food was average, nothing special. It might just be what I ordered, but I'm vegetarian so the choices were very limited. Service was good.
Food was very good but not mind blowing. Service was a little slow.
We ordered a charcuterie plate which has nice cheeses and meats but the pieces were minuscule and quite disappointing for $24. The small plate salads were very good, goat cheese ravioli was salty and gnocchi ok. We may go back but will go with the 1st floor meatball joint.
Amazing food and service!
We were pleasantly surprised by the food. It was a nice evening and the doors were open to the street which was great because we had people in from out of town. They loved the restaurant and our city.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal; the only disappointment was the location of our table. There were tables closer to the window available but we were told we couldn’t move.
Nice atmosphere and waitress was friendly. However, food was not worth the price. Very salty. I have had much better filets for less.
Took my goddaughter and friends there! Restaurant week was in full swing and it was happy hour! Delicious food and good service! Pork chops were perfectly cooked and the pesto linguine was lovely!
It was a little noisy but that was o.k. We could still carry on a conversation.
Would definitely recommend this 2nd floor restaurant!
Not my favorite place in Pittsburgh but Id go again. Nothing really stood out to me. Its ok.
It was Restaurant Week in Pittsburgh and my husband and I felt Mezzo was a good choice. We were sat immediately, as we made reservations, however, we waited over an hour for our entrees. Our server said that a couple of large tables had put in their order ahead of ours, which we understood. However, three tables that came in after us, got their food before us!!! Or at least three tables that I could see and knew arrived later than we had. It was disappointing to say the least. Won't be going back to try them again. My husband had the branzino crudo but it wasn't cold. He was expecting raw fish to be kept at a cold temperature and it wasn't. The baked ricotta was ok, but the peaches tasted like onions. By the time our entrees arrived, we weren't even hungry since they served bread with our appetizers. It just wasn't the kind of evening we were hoping for. Disappointed all around.
Great staff, great food, great service!
We love this place
Our server was great!! Food was amazing. My friend ordered the filet and it was to die for and I had the Tortoglioni (spelling?) and it was very delicious. Overall great meal.
We come here once a year from Philadelphia because it is our favorite spot in Pittsburgh. Excellent food, great wine selection, and knowledgeable and kind staff make this our place. We highly recommend it to anyone we know who is coming to Pittsburgh.
Perfect dinner and great service. We love this spot. Food is consistently great and service very friendly.
We were pleasantly surprised at Mezzo. The service was outstanding and the dinners were very tasty and flavorful. We decided that this is a restaurant that we will come back to during the next theatre season. Highly recommended!
Good atmosphere and very enjoyable food. Noise level was moderate and service was fairly prompt (we were on a short time frame leaving for a show, but when we asked to speed things up our waitress responded quickly. The "Three for $35" option was good value.
My husband and I came here over the weekend to celebrate our anniversary. Although the food was very good, we were disappointed when my husband's entrée arrived raw. He ordered the pork chop and when he cut into the middle he found raw meet. Our waitress quickly brought it back to the kitchen and shared that it was under done and would be re-cooked and brought back. We waited ten minutes or so and his meal was brought back. Both of our meals were very good, but we felt for the price we paid for them we should have been compensated in some way for the raw meat.
Went with two friends for a nice dinner as a gift. Staff was very kind and gracious as our third had been caught in heavy traffic. The food was delicious, and especially the desserts. I certainly reccommend the calamari and the lemon ricotta tart.
Amazing food great ambiance if you can sit by the open railings, fresh and delicious, the arugula salad is the best! I don’t know why but I could eat 100 of them! My filet was incredibly cooked, service was wonderful, we all enjoyed ourselves and had fantastic meals! The location is great for after dinner drinks at any of the upscale bars in the area, this is on our list of regular spots now!
Wonderful experience with awesome service. We had reservations for 6:15 but showed up early and we able to be seated immediately. Food was great and fair priced.
Seats were so close to one another, you could reach out and touch other patrons. And the setup offered very little privacy. The menu says they have salad, but they have 3 in total I think. And one is a bean salad I think, so that doesnt even really count as a real salad. The menu was underwhelming. Calamari was chewy and pretty horrible, I think about how bad that calamari was often... sometimes at night, when i am alone. Crabcake was satisfactory. My GF's arugula salad looked okay but was not terrific.
They do not have air conditioning. We sat upstairs, I had a reservation. We showed up, they sat us in between two other tables and it was upsetting because the table layout offers no privacy. And not inbetween cool patrons, we were stuck between a bunch of losers. It was hot too. I don't understand why a restaurant doesnt have air conditioning. The menu says its an italian place but its really more of like a meat and cheese, deli meat place with some tapas. It would probably be a good place for meat and cheese platter, and a cocktail. But we just wanted a salad and a table we could sit and talk and not be super hot, and they failed on all 3 fronts. Service was fine. He liked men, which is okay, i dont care who you like, he was a fine server, he didnt design the restaurant or decide to market it as Italian place when it is a meat and cheese place or decide to not buy air conditioning but get ceiling fans like its 1878 on the farm. The water comes in a nice clear glass jug, so that was neat!
Mezzo is awesome. Food is fantastic. We loved the Calamari, Chefs Charcuterie Board and the crab cake app. Pizza was not our fav but ok....we have done some pretty heavy duty pizza tours in NYC so finding pizza that meets our standards is tough. Crust and cheese were really really good but the sauce was too sweet for our taste. Bottom line...go to Mezzo for the Charcuterie...don't miss it! We only had apps so can't rate dinner eats. This place is really fun...and the staff is superior. Will go back when in Pittsburgh again!
Excellent food! Great service!
Staff was very accommodating for dietary requests. Food was fantastic except I ordered a well-done steak and received a medium rare one. Didn't send it back because didn't want to wait for another one, but I'm not sure how it could have been so off the mark.
the only dish that disappointed was the Burrata. The tomatoes were extremely mushy. Everything else was delicious!
Great place with a great menu. Get the cheese and meat plate for an appetizer. Great!
very good italian meal in pleasant atmosphere in convenient location
We had high hopes given the popularity, but the food left much to be desired. Pasta sauce was bland, charcuterie board was nothing spectacular. For better Italian, go to Piccolo Forno or DiAnoia’s up the street.
Wonderful service, Brian was prompt and attentive but not intrusive in any way. We all had the wood-fired pizza which was excellent. We weren’t super hungry otherwise we might have tried one of the charcuterie plates.
This was my first visit. The food was delicious. The service was very friendly. I will say the restaurant was not extremely busy during our visit yet the drink orders did take some time to arrive after ordering and they accidentally brought the wrong drinks. That would not deter me from a return visit, just something to note. Overall an enjoyable trip.
The food was excellent and the drinks were tasty (although I had to have the waitress explain some of the ingredients of both). They didn’t have air conditioning, though, and it was hot and humid outside, so it was a little uncomfortable.
Came here for my wife’s birthday! Good and service was great! I wish they had opened the windows. It was a lovely breezy day to do that. Had the chefs selection board and the grilled calamari to start. I love all of the different types of cured meats and cheeses they provide.
We all split 2 pizzas. Margarita and the pepperoni and sausage. Both were delicious!
And for desert we had each tried all 3 available. All very tasty. We then went up to the rooftop bar for a drink after. Overall great experience yet again!
Wait staff attentive and food very reasonable.
Octopus --very good
Went with family of six including grandparents and kids. It was the perfect setting, great menu, we loved every single dish we ordered. Charcuterie and cheeses were excellent to start with. Will definitely return when back in town.
