Came here for my wife’s birthday! Good and service was great! I wish they had opened the windows. It was a lovely breezy day to do that. Had the chefs selection board and the grilled calamari to start. I love all of the different types of cured meats and cheeses they provide.
We all split 2 pizzas. Margarita and the pepperoni and sausage. Both were delicious!
And for desert we had each tried all 3 available. All very tasty. We then went up to the rooftop bar for a drink after. Overall great experience yet again!
Went with family of six including grandparents and kids. It was the perfect setting, great menu, we loved every single dish we ordered. Charcuterie and cheeses were excellent to start with. Will definitely return when back in town.
This has been my favorite downtown restaurant for a long time, but when I went recently it was outstanding! The food is always amazing with its seasonal changing menu, and the environment and staff are always lovely, but they really were outstanding this time. We were running late for a show, and our server Brigit was amazing to help us get there on time. We got our food super quickly and she was incredibly accommodating and attentive to help us. Thank you all so much!
The service was great and the food was absolutely delicious. Very attentive and friendly wait staff. Try the peppers and Parmesan pizza!
My friends birthday, they treated us so special with a champagne toast and cookies with a candle ♥️ food and drinks were out of this world. love this place.
The food was delicious and the service was even better.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Perfect early evening dinner before heading to a Heinz Hall performance.
Great space looking out over the street!
This place is awesome! We had the cheese and meat platter and much more! Service was awesome! All around great.. will be back soon
Pre-theater dinner. Loved the large open windows, decor, courteous wait staff, and the good food.
We went to Mezzo for an early Father’s Day dinner and were not disappointed. The server was friendly and informative about the menu, food was tasty, and the decor was unique. Have already recommended to friends and family
The wine and food was all delicious ! However, I would not order the crab cake again.
The service was good, but the food was not really my style. I don’t mind spending money on a good meal and I’m always up for trying something and different. However, I thought the dishes were overpriced, overly complicated and the flavors did not mesh well. Then, to make it even better, all 3 of us were sick the next day with stomach issues. I was also extremely disappointed in the atmosphere. The tables were very close together and the room was very noisy making it difficult to talk and to hear one another. The 3rd floor bar was listed as a “rooftop” bar with views of the city, but it was indoors with a tiny balcony overlooking the wall of the building next door. Overall, I felt like we paid for a 5 star experience and received a 2 star one.
Mezzo is a great place pre-theater. The food is great and the timing is excellent. We will definitely be back in the future. I couldn't believe how tender the Farm Chicken was and with a super crispy skin. I found out the chefs secret but promised not to tell.
Food and service were top notch. Will definitely eat here again.
Every dish was fresh and unique. Service was perfect. From the charcuterie to the small plates to the fresh entree to the decadent xhocolate dessert every bite was uniquely delicious. It was not inexpensive but it was worth it.
I would recommend this restaurant. The food was fantastic, and we really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. We had a reservation and were seated right away; the staff was also very friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes. The only problem we had was a member of our party had an injured knee and couldn't easily climb the stairs. We were directed to an elevator but it only went to the garden bar on the third floor. The staff needed to do something to make the elevator stop on the second floor. After that was sorted out though, it was a very enjoyable dining experience.
This was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had!! We started with delicious cocktails and the chef’s selected charcuterie - absolutely fantastic. I had the filet as my entree and it was cooked perfectly. Our server was pleasant and attentive. Couldn’t have asked for a better meal. Will definitely be back!
I did a lot of research on which place to eat at and I picked this. I seriously feel like I spent $90 for nothing. It tasted awful. Desert was just too rich, pasta had very weird, gross ingredients. Our whole group was so disappointed!!! Pick somewhere else.
Good eats....great prices. Cant beat it for a reasonably priced quality meal dahntahnn!
Amazing marg pizza. Phenomenal wine selection. Get the charcuterie plate, you will have no regrets. This place is so different than any other ‘run of the mill’ restaurant! It doesn’t matter if you’re taking your mother, girlfriend, brother, sister, family or friends, you’re bound to have great times & amazing eats! Highly recommend for any special occasion.
We had the same wait staff assist us and she remembered us and also was helpful with the Gleuten free options for two of my guests.
Food was excellent, just the right amounts and very fresh!
Our server (I’m sorry, I don’t recall his name, but had a beard and dark hair) was extremely attentive, addressed a variety of concerns regarding food allergies with the kitchen and made specifically accommodations for dishes to be served safely.
The food was very good, but pricy for the wood fired pizza.
We booked a reservation for a special occasion. We were rudely told as soon as we were seated that we had only 1.5 hour for the table and we had to be out. Mind you, we had concert tickets for that evening and were not trying to “make a night of it”. The table tried to order several drinks from the menu and were advised they were out. No Bloody Mary either. Our server acted as though she was annoyed that we came to the restaurant. A friend went to the bar to order classic shots for the table and was advised by the bartender that the request was dated and “from the 80’s”- interesting response to a table of 40 year old, professional women. Not that it matters but seated at the table were an attorney, an engineer, 2 HR professionals, and a doctor... we may as well have been beggars asking to dine for free by the the way we were treated. I will tell everyone I know- DO NOT DINE THERE... it was an absolute disgrace. I mention our professions only because we ALL dine out frequently for work and socially- no one had ever experienced such rude treatment before! Unreal, you should be ashamed of the server and bartender from that night. Please note, a kind female hostess did offer to bring an extra chair over for a friend who stopped to say hi - the only decency extended- but we appreciated her!
We had fantastic food and would go back! It was a great atmosphere and we especially loved the sustainability aspect and paper straws.
Great service (thank you Jamie), interesting food combos (loved the 35$special and chefs selection board). Wine list could be better (esp thoses reds by the glass). Sitting near the open balcolny windows was a perk.
The menu wasn’t clear that the cheeseboard did not include any bread or crackers to accompany the cheese. It was just a plate with five smallish servings of cheese. The fruit and nut bar wasn’t tasty. The tables also were low and I kept hitting my legs if I crossed them. We might try the downstairs food/drink another time but will pass on the upstairs.
Brian as a server was exceptional. He was very helpful to guests, in particular since we had not dined there before. I will asked to be seated at one of his tables next time. The seared tuna was excellent.
Great casual spot with great service. An easy place to take kids without sacrificing great food. There’s something for everyone. It’s a little pricey for a casual place, but worth it!
Loved everything! The chef’s charcuterie board was very impressive with the selection of house-cured meats, imported cheeses, house-baked breads and pickled veggies. Pizzas were perfectly prepared in the wood-fires oven. Linguine was amazing! Mezzorita cocktail was top notch and the chocolate crema dessert was to die for. Portions were very generous, definitely worth the prices. Staff was very attentive from refilling water and beverages to promptly bringing out the plated foods. Atmosphere was casual and comfortable, while also slightly upscale. Our reservation was at 8pm and the restaurant was busy all night. We were offered a table, but chose to sit at the bar where we were able to watch the cold plates being prepared (salads, desserts) and the pizzas made. Those line cooks were working quickly and making beautiful plates/pizzas. Can’t wait to go back for more!
Excellent food and service. Highly recommend. Great atmosphere .
Nice place, good food but way too much overpriced. $ 140 for a shared starter and two main dishes with three glasses of wine in total is too much for this place.
The food was really good but way overpriced I wouldn’t spend that much for just a family meal out. Also we were expecting to be able to order from downstairs as well
Would certainly dine here again!
Get the charcuterie and bread!
Mezzo was perfect for a graduation dinner. We had a few shareable plates and then the pizza. Everything was perfect and well made. One of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh.
The charcuterie plate is a must have menu item. No matter who I take: from work colleagues to family, there is something for everyone and they all love it.
Food was excellent but the restaurant and bar were packed and very obviously understaffed. We booked our reservation 2 full hours before the show we had tickets to see and still had to rush out the door after finally flagging our server down for the check. We didn't even have time for coffee and dessert. I'm giving the benefit of the doubt on this one because there are not typically big shows on Monday nights and we otherwise had a very good experience.
We have eaten here several times, and this visit was for my daughter's birthday with a couple of her friends. Service was, as always, friendly and attentive. We had a pizza and some small plates, and we started with a chef's selection of cheese and charcuterie. Missed a few things from the former (larger?) menu, but our favorites are still there, like the duck spec pizza, which is amazing. Really, you can't go wrong here.
Service was so-so. Nothing special. The price of some of the items is a little steep for what it is. The charcuterie prices are something you’d find at a top end restaurant, and this doesn’t really fit the bill, although they claim it’s their specialty. Entrees are good, but not great. Wine selection is decent. Not a bad place to go, but there’s better for the same cost or less. Probably wouldn’t go back.
