Mezze Bistro + Bar Ratings and Reviews
Came to Mezze for my mother's 66th birthday. Price was well worth the quality of food and service. Due to a last minute issue, I also brought my 2 yr old daughter with us. I would not recommend Mezze as a place to bring children, but if you must an earlier reservation and a well behaved child - they were very sweet to her. Bringing her crayons and being patient with her one or two animal noises. Food was amazing, price was doable, and staff was top notch!
My husand and I enjoyed our dinner at Mezza. Although the menu is limited, the food was innovative with good size portions. At the waiters suggestion, we had the Georgia Candy Roaster which was a remarkably delicious appetizer. Look forward to our next visit.
Extremely disappointed given other reviews. Food at best was mediocre. Pumpkin arrancini were bland. One of the three arrancini tasted gamey. Perhaps the cheese inside was a bit off. Crispy octopus was full of sand and not cooked enough at the larger end of the leg making it unmalleable. Garganelli had the strangest spice blend. Not a good night overall.
Occasionally you encounter a wait staff person who really adds to the experience. Alexandra is that person - knows food and wine, is upbeat and enthusiastic about her work and the restaurant, and is beyond thoughtful and helpful. The menu descriptions can be a tad opaque and you'll benefit from knowledgable explanations. We have eaten here several times, and this was the best. We recommend the restaurant highly.
Food: Delicious, as always. Wine list is quite respectable. Highly recommend the kohlrabi salad, pate, and any fish on the menu. Ambiance: Comfortable, softly lit. A very large group was seated next to us and though they were a bit loud at times, it was well absorbed in the space. Service: Very attentive but the check was brought before we’d asked for it and while we were still enjoying dessert and coffee. Overall: highly recommend, food will not disappoint. Our favorite go-to when visiting Williamstown
This is a pricey restaurant, we spent $250 for four people, but by-and-large you get what yo pay for.
The greeting, seating, and water/bread serving was exemplary, as was the food. the food/drink service, however was sloppy - we felt like we were in a diner, not an upscale restaurant. Service was slow, the waitress forgot what wine we had ordered and brought something else, which we had to send back, and her general approach was decidedly nonchalant. But apart from that - a nice evening with our daughter and soon-to-be-son-in-law.
Went to celebrate our anniversary. The food was amazing. Wish there were a few more entree choices, but the two my husband and I had were fabulous and creative. We started with the kale salad and mussels as appetizers followed by the duck and the garganelli for our entrees. The chocolate pie and decaf French press were a perfect finish to the meal.
Been going to Mezzo since they opened, about ten years ago. Consistently high quality. Service is very welcoming and friendly. Food was excellent, I had duck, my husband had octopus orecchiette , both very fine. The duck is only cooked medium -rare, as the chef likes it. I was fine with that. For dessert I had apple fritters with caramel sauce which were quite delicious. Got a lovely pot of coffee all to myself and we got a nice little post-dessert of chocolate cookies on the house. Comfortable, relaxing, friendly, warm, welcoming and good food too. What more does anyone want?
Outstanding! Great, friendly service, from the hostess to the waiter. The food is innovative and delicious! The cocktails were perfectly made. The house-cured olives were just perfect. The green bean Caesar was so good! The beans, which were raw, were the best I've had all summer. The hen of the woods, alone, is worth a visit. The garganelli was also outstanding. This was my second visit to this restaurant and was absolutely as good as the first. I look forward to going again the next time I visit the area.
We made a special trip from New York City to Williamstown and North Adams to visit the local art museums. Mezze's claim of being a farm-to-table restaurant enticed us to try it for dinner. Our starter —we split a simple 'Greens' (lettuce) salad — was vividly fresh and delicious. Our entrees (salmon and pasta) were excellent, and the dessert (a blueberry cake) was wonderful. When we had a problem with an order (overcooked fish), it was promptly fixed and perfectly delivered. The entire staff was professional and friendly. One word to summarize our overall experience? Terrific.
The problem with this restaurant is that the menu basically has not changed in at least the two years I have been going here. Clearly, the effort by the owner or chef has declined so would not recommend. Offerings in williamstown are slim to begin with but this one is off the list until a major overhaul of the menu and some effort by the staff and chef. Williams parents avoid
Mezze's parking lot lights were out.
This did not make for a positive first impression, with evening diners digging for flashlights to navigate the dark lot and broken sidewalk up a steep hill. On a Friday night they were a packed house with only a few small tables available. Reservations necessary. Service was polite and helpful but extraordinarily slow. Apps came out before plates and drinks took 5-10 minutes despite the bar being relatively quiet.
The food was superb. The menu was up to date and being changed regularly. Very creative farm-to-table methods; the tomato and peach burrata was fun and tangy, with a delightful zest. The chicken proved to be a great choice, succulent and carefully cooked in the skin to maintain flavor. The "Bistro Steak" was not identified but I believe it was a lean cut of filet. Arrived tender and cooked medium rare, no scorching or burns. A bit chewy but fatty, with no gristle.
Mezza is an upscale restaurant near an upscale college and therefore is very popular in a low population area. Located so far from major metro areas, I cannot recommend a specific trip to it unless you are seeking upscale dining while you are in the area.
Mezze service and food has improved significantly over the last few years. At one time the food and service was sparse and uninspired. The atmosphere is now warm and welcoming, and the flavor combinations outstanding. Mezze is back on our list of go to restaurants in Williamstown.
