Quiet Wednesday night but food and service was impeccable. Extremely unusual preparations and all work reall well. Took business associates from out of town and they were blown away!
This was our third visit to Mexique and we tried the tasting menu for the first time. The food was excellent and the wines paired with the food were amazing. The service was flawless. We will return!
Amazing food!
We went for Easter brunch. Possibly the best brunch buffet I've ever had. And the service was top. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Es un gran restaurante, la comida es deliciosa, la presentación de los platillos excepcional. Lo recomiendo ampliamente. Los precios son aceptables por la calidad de la comida.
Outstanding on all levels.
The three of us did the 6 course tasting menu with the wine pairing and it was a wonderful experience! Can't wait to go back!
Delicious menu for brunch. We shared the waffles/duck carnitas as a first course and shared a carne asada huarache. Both were wonderful.
Everything was great at Mexique! Our server made recommendations for wine, appetizers and main course and we enjoyed everything. We will be back!
Place was too ho
Been there several times over the years. Fantastic food that is ever changing. Really a special place.
Exquisite and elegant mix of Mexican an French. Need to come back with our French friends! Degustation menú wonderful, a bit dear but worth it.
Out of this world! We are always left with the intrigue of how will it be our next time, knowing though all too well, that the least is that it would be phenomenal.
Chef is friendly and welcoming. Staff is also great. Ambiance and experience were overall 100. Will definitely be checking out brunch.
Always fantastic in every way! Our server was knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. We enjoyed talking with Chef Carlos and our friends from South Dakota and Florida were impressed with every morsel. The dinner ended on a wonderful shared pairing of the chocolate fondant and glasses of ancho chili liqueur. We will return!
I don't normally write reviews but the food here was so impressive, I had to. The beef tartare in particular was absolutely wonderful. I'm sad I didn't try this place sooner and can't wait to go back for more.
This restaurant is one of the best in Chicago. We were celebrating our anniversary and the food was delicious, the attention of the waiters was very cordial, and the Chef Carlos Gaytan the best ! I definitely recommend this place.
As usual the food was creative and delicious. The waiter was very knowledgeable and easily answered all of our questions.
Just incredible and different from any type of Mexican themed food you have tried
Can’t wait to go back
A truly great dining experience! Best sangria! Every dish was outstanding. Amazing blend of flavors beautifully presented.
A wonderful time was had by all!
We did the 6-course tasting menu which was adapted for my wife who is gluten-free. Every course was incredible. Each course was paired with a wine and all were amazing. Our waiter was very attentive and took time to explain the wines and the dishes.
It was our second time at Mexique and both visits were top notch.
Great atmosphere and a local vibe to the restaurant. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and could not be happier with the choice. Foodies will love it!
It was beautiful. The ambiance, food, servers, and drinks were all a great experience. Overall amazing.
Fantastic as always! I will most certainly be back!
The food was amazing!!
Place is incredible! Food was top notch and the sangria was 🔥👍💥
AMAZINGGGGG! Will definitely go back. We loved the beef tartare, creamy corn soup, and duck. The chocolate mole lava cake and the guava Panna Cotta were excellent as well. The ceviche and monkfish were good, but not as incredible as our other dishes. The server also made great recommendations and was very helpful with our questions.
Excelente comida y servicio. Poniendo en alto a Mexico.
Amazing food and service! Complementary app and dessert for my fiance's birthday and a visit from the chef.
Tonight we got the 6 course tasting menu and left very satisfied and really impressed with the level of thought and detail put into each bite of food we had. I highly recommend the tasting menu. Service was fantastic. I really like how you don’t know what each course is until it arrives in front of you. They give you a general outline - something light, then a soup, then fish, two proteins, and dessert. I think the highlight of the meal for me was the seafood course - it was a piece of lobster served over a *corn* risotto that was truly special and unique. Came with two little pieces of kumquat that added an unexpected sweetness and tartness but really made the dish stand out. These kinds of details made the entire meal such a pleasant experience. Will definitely return!
I can't say enough about Mexique and our exceptional dinner experience. The food was outstanding and plated as a pieces of art. Some of the best Sangria we have ever had.
Great service, amazing food, perfect ambiance
Great atmosphere and service. The food was absolutely delicious - the lamb and chocolate torte are a must try.
Beautiful presentations, very helpful and attentive servers, wonderful and uniquely flavored food. This was our second visit, and we will definitely return.
We decided to get the “Six Course Tasting Menu” and let me tell you if you do not get this you are missing out the whole point of a One Michelin Star Restaurant which is to get the feel of the menu, portions are smaller but you get to try several things, we got:
Ceviche
Betabel
Salmon with Corn Rissotto
Pato al Tamarindo
Some Pork Dish
And Arroz con Leche
I can’t tell you which one was my favorite because I loved them all. Carlos Gaytán did it right!
Thank you.
The food was generally interesting and different at Mexique. It was a little hit or miss in that one of us had an amazing meal that was well prepared and creative while another in our party had a meal that was a bit salty and pretty basic. It is also worth noting that there are no cocktails here but there is a decent sangria, wine and beer selection so just know that going in. Unfortunately the service wasn't great. Our waiter didn't put our order in until pretty late so there was a long wait between appetizers and entrees and in fact our waiter didn't address this so the busboy ended up letting us know the status and make sure we were comfortable.
One of the best meals with the best service I have had in a long time. It was absolutely fabulous. Highly recommend it!
Another excellent meal at Mexique! I have been going there for a decade and have never had a meal less than superb. The complementary pate was smooth and delicious. The ceviche was simply shrimp with a few minor adornments but in a tangy, light red sauce, yet quite tasty; so much so we asked for a spoon to scoop up every last drop. The lamb, the duck and the trout were all first rate. The lamb was prepared two ways- three beautiful chops and a somewhat spicy mix of chopped lamb and sauce on a little bit of carb the two complemented one another perfectly yielding a delightful duo of meat and extra flavor. The duck is a signature dish and was also prepared in more than one way. I think I will order that next time. The fish was in a corn husk and was more of a comfort dish, soft and warm. With it came a cylinder of squash also full of flavor. Our desert choice was rice pudding, again done with a complexity that is Mexique's hallmark, blackberries and all. I am already looking forward to my next meal there. It is not inexpensive but for a quality night out, it is consistently a great place to go.
Delicious food with delicate, complex flavors. Butternut squash soup is rich and dense. Ceviche is spicy hot but not overly so. Chile relleno is a veggie treat and the desserts are scrumptious. Carne Assad’s is a little too tough, red and undercooked for my taste but others may appreciate it more. Have been here several times and have never been disappointed. Very kind and genuine staff, an upscale casual atmosphere and really well conceived and well prepared food. A favorite in Chicago.
It was a wonderful experience - the food is fantastic - will definitely go back. A bit on the pricey side but well worth it - exceptional - loved every bite
Tasting menu was insanely delicious!
