MEX Ratings and Reviews
My daughter wanted to go to MEX for her birthday. She and my husband really enjoyed their margaritas and taco dinners. The chips and salsa are amazing. My dinner was not good (fajita quinoa bowl). The chicken was dry and much of the quinoa was uncooked. The seasoning was crappy. Way too much chili powder and little else. The service was good - very friendly and attentive. But when we tried to use a Visa gift card we were told that she could only charge 80% of the value but couldn’t exactly explain why. We had never used the card before so it was full value. My husband checked the balance when we got home. Needless to say we were ripped off because there is now only $4 on the card and there should have been much more. My husband called and spoke to a manager about this Issue. STILL waiting for a call back. We will not be back if this doesn’t get resolved and we will let everyone know what a rip off this place is!
We had a business meeting and 4 out of 5 had not been to Mex. They thought it was a great choice. Everyone made the salad and all loved it. Chips and salsa were outstanding. Service was very friendly and timely. Staff who greeted us were extremely inviting.
We were looking for a good Mexican place which seems very hard to find based on reviews! Decided to try MEX after spending a lot of time working around. I am very happy this was where we ended up. My chicken burrito was probably the best I have ever had. And my girlfriend had the shrimp tacos...oh my gosh...the flavor was through the roof. I was so impressed. Last, I had the classic margarita, and our server was not lying..best margarita I HAVE EVER HAD. Can't wait to go back!
Very disappointed with the service at Mex. I dined here earlier in the week with colleagues from work and the service was exceptional. My experience was so great, I returned with my two kiddos. This experience was night and day from the prior. This time we waited for almost 15 minutes after being seated before we were greeted. And then kept waiting for another 20 minutes after that just to place our order. All the while our waiter was meticulously attending to the needs of the party of 4 adults next to us, going as far as working with the chef to custom create a dish for one of the men. When we finally placed our order we were met with one word answers. After the food came we didn’t see our server again; I had to wave him down 15 minutes later to ask about the kids drinks that were supposed to have come with their meal. I asked for an alternative to soft drinks, as the kids don’t drink pop, and I was met with a blank stare. Fast forward to 845 (we were seated at 715) and after waving him down again for our check, I told the waiter that I was not happy with the service and was met with a snide remark of “I’ve been attentive to all of your needs” that came complete with an eye roll. I guess being attentive to our needs meant bringing the adult diners next to us a giant bag of complimentary chips and salsa to go, while ours got whisked away and thrown out. Maybe it meant charging me for kids meals and not even asking what they were drinking when they ordered. Maybe it meant laughing and carrying on with every other table in his section and then coming to our table only when flagged down. If I hadn’t received the type of service I did when I dined with a group of adults I probably would have thought this was a normal experience for this location. This waiter obviously had issue with a 4top that was 50% kids. Big mistake sir, as I’m in the service industry and would have left you a generous tip. Sorry my kids were such a burden.
Opportunity to catch up on things with a friend. Seated at a two-top with high chairs next to the bar. Bartenders waited on our table and they were attentive and efficient. One of us had a burrito which was made to order and was described as very good. The other dish was chicken stuffed tamales which was OK. I have had better. Margaritas were good. Price was average for this type of restaurant. Would meet friends / eat at this place again.
When I made a reservation and indicated we were celebrating a birthday, I assumed we would have been given a nice table. Ended up in the corner where the sun shines in, and the seat I was in, I was blinded by the sun. After complaining, they offered to move us, but we just moved that seat over a bit.
My mahi-mahi tacos were a bit dry, quite unusual, since that's what I always order.
Wait service was a bit on the slow side, but server was quite busy.
A very friendly vibe, with a mix of couples, families and groups every time we've dined. Quirky- in a good way- interior, with lots of Day of the Dead (Mexican holiday) decorations. It's a real pleasant change from a typical burrito/enchilada place. Excellent, fresh tasting food- we've had several entrees and especially like the carne asada entree and curried vegetable tacos. Cocktails of fresh juices and other ingredients are great! Attentive, friendly service all around. Only downer is there's a charge for the usually complimentary salsa and chips- but they're worth it.
The service was so slow the waiter volunteered to bring the manager over so that we could address the issue with him/her. The restaurant was half full and the kitchen was reportedly “slammed.” How could that be on a quiet evening? The food has its highs and its lows. The problems all start out with the menu. It is clear that this is a restaurant that wants to be a “Mexican” restaurant that serves glutton free kale and other millennial delights. Mex has an identity crisis. To top it off it has poor service. I will them luck.
