Great Newburyport commuter rail spot for a Mexican bite to eat. Fresh tacos, casual atmosphere. Started as a food truck, now a dine in spot. Nice margaritas and good combos.

Not particularly allergy friendly. Just know that in advance. They had run out of several of their standard menu items by 7:00pm on a Saturday night.

Hi Alev, Thanks for visiting us and I would love to better understand what happened. Could you please describe what happened in regards to the allergy situation? I pride myself on working with my guests on all special needs and requests. We provide gluten sensitive options and can work around most Allergies, the hardest one being cilantro. Please understand that as a Chef this is very important to me. Please call, email or text and I would love to discuss 603.534.3807 or clee@metzys.

Loved it. And parking! Great menu options. Had the avacdo and lime salad with spicy shrimp. Did not even need to ask for the dressing on the side. Smart. Friendly staff. Will certainly return. The decor was awesome!

We visited because we needed a quick bite when our son arrived in the commuter trail. The place is loud, exacerbated by a singer /guitar player. The food was okay - nothing spectacular and for the price, underwelming. If Everton was $5 bucks cheaper, then higher ratings. Wouldn't go again.

Metzy’s is a great find! Excellent food. Service prompt and friendly. The only drawback is the lighting is too bright! Lowering the wattage would add some ambiance and encourage folks without kids to come too. Thank you.

Thank you so much Jeannette! We really appreciate everything you had to say and we are having dimmers installed in the restaurant to try and create a little more ambiance in the restaurant. It should be done this week! :) Thanks again and hope to see you soon. Chef/Partner Chris Lee

Stopped in for some quick nourishment and left satisfied. It’s No frills but offers simple, homemade good food, solid cocktails/Beers list for what this place is. Lighting is getting better, the tunes were perfect and our bar server was great...awesome unwind after a crap work day in Wakefield. Not a date night place per se but depends on your standards.

Hi Simina, Thank you for taking the time to review us and we are happy that you noticed the changes in the lighting. Also, thank you for the the 4 for Food and the 4 for Service. We are slowly moving from fast casual to casual in terms of our food ie: Entrees and Hard plates, bigger portions. Also, we hung curtains and dimmed the lighting so we are defiantly getting closer and closer to a date night restaurant. :) I hope to see you soon! Chef/Partner Chris Lee

Good food, service was okay. Atmosphere seems off, very bright and casual, almost like a place you’d order from the counter then sit, which would be fine but then prices don’t match that atmosphere. This place would be great for lunch! We’ll be back though.

This was a wonderful surprise. My friend and I chose this restaurant to meet because it was the halfway mark from where each of us was staying. This turned out to be a perfect decision! When I pulled into the parking lot I was a little surprised that it was in an older brick building on a very off the beaten path road. Once I walked in though I was just taken in. I was greeted immediately and shown to our table. We ordered Margueritas and several appetizers (tapas). The cheese dip was excellent!!! The guacamole was very fresh and home made. The restaurant makes their own tortilla chips. I ordered the fish tacos and the Mexican grilled corn salad and my companion order a burrito. We ate everything. The salad was enough to feed 3-4 people. We have decided that this will be our future meeting place--authentic Mexican food, good relaxed atmosphere and easy to get to.

We’ve had Metzy’s from the food truck and catered events so we wanted to try the restaurant. It was a chilly night so the building was very cold. the lights are very bright and it’s not a good evening atmosphere. If they turn down the lights and turned up the heat, it wouldmake a big difference. Also suggest putting more detail in the menus about quantity served. Waitresses were very nice.

We were cold, we had to keep our coats on the entire meal. The chairs at the tables were uncomfortable and cold. The food was subpar for the high prices. I had a chicken taco, it consisted of chicken and lettuce, that's it. I would expect a taco restaurant to serve the best ultimate tacos. Very disappointed. I had a vodka soda it came in a small 6 oz glass cost was $8, again disappointed. I went thinking I would use their catering services for a party I am hosting for 100 people and I wanted to try their food first. Sadly, I will not be hiring Metzy's for my party and will not return.

Hi Cindy, My name is Chris Lee and I am Partner/Executive Chef and I feel awful that this happened. I am concerned because you said your chicken taco only had chicken and cheese on it, should of had Chipotle sour cream, lettuce, caramelized onions, jack cheese and mango habanero salsa. So, with that said I am sorry. I take a lot of pride in what I do and would love the chance to talk to you more about this if you would be so kind. My number is 603.534.3807 or email Clee@metzyscom
