The menu was different than what was online. When we arrived we had thought that we would be able to order what we previously had seen. That was not the case. The sides for each entrée were different or they were out and the appetizers were different. Although not a big deal, the ones that they had were not a good value. We ordered the shrimp and artichoke hearts fried with aioli and cocktail sauce, they were good, but not worth $12. The salad was great and we decided to split the double bone in pork chop. They split the pork chop in half and the side that we received was collard greens with mushrooms, which was not good and rice and beans, which the beans were crunchy and hard. My half of the pork was moist and full of flavor while my husbands was extremely dry and hard to eat. Overall the meal and drinks came to over $100 and was not worth it. The black and white show they had at the bar was odd too. I know it is supposed to be a speak easy but it would've been a better atmosphere if there was something else on tv too.
Wonderful meal and great live music.
Our server (her name starts with an A), was quite new but very pleasant.
Neal at the bar served the perfect cocktails for us!
I was disappointed with the fact that the did not social distance the tables and our table was right by kitchen door that had little to no space for staff to walk by us.
Always good food and atmosphere. Staff very friendly and accommodating
Outstanding service! Food was very delicious. Prime rib bites, salad. Salmon, scallops, risotto. Portions were plenty too!
Service and food were both even better than expected. Our waitress was very patient. She was also creative with my mothers choice of tea.
The restaurant is classy and sophisticated. The menu is limited but everything on it is excellent. The bartenders and wait staff are knowledgeable and the selection at the bar is extensive. We really enjoyed it. It’s pretty pricey so the metropolitan is a special occasion type of place for us.
The food was perfect! We love metro and their staff!
We loved Metropolitan! Our new favorite place to go for date nights!
Outstanding as always. Extremely packed on this Friday night so service was a little slower than normal - we had to wait 20 minutes for a table even though we had a reservation, but the friendly staff, excellent cocktails, good food, and fabulous live music (Austin Brazille trio) more than made up for it. The owners were on hand making the rounds as they often are. Always enjoy chatting briefly with Charlie. By far the best dining experience in Amarillo.
Excellent. Neal is awesome.
What a mess. Not one employee was wearing a mask, and when we asked about social distancing, our server said, "Oh, we never get to capacity." Well, it certainly looked to be at capacity with every barstool occupied and table full throughout the cavernous, multi-roomed restaurant. Plus, our server was nice but very slow and inattentive. The $22 steak bites came out with maybe 10 small pieces of meat, a few cheese cubes, way too many pepperocinis and olives with two Hawaiian sweet rolls you get at the store. Of course, she didn't give us the bread until we asked for bread. We wouldn't have known what was with the appetizer, because there was no description of it on the menu. It wasn't worth $12, much less $22. Plus, the acoustics in the restaurant made people have to yell to be heard. This was called a "speakeasy," but obviously the only thing the owner knows about running a speakeasy is to charge $14 for an average cocktail in a tiny glass.
Thought the atmosphere would have been more genuine... people walking around in shorts and tee's
Takes from what the experience is suppose to be.
Pricey to be sure but excellent food and an interesting cocktail menu....service was good. There a jazz quartet playing and we were in front of them so a little hard to talk
We come here for the cocktails (best in town), but the food is top notch also. Never been disappointed here. Live music adds to a vibrant atmosphere.
Went to hear the band. Food was way over priced and average. The food in Amarillo is so disappointing. I think we’ll head to Santa Fe this weekend just for good food.
Never had a bad meal here. The service is outstanding as well as the food!
Food was great. Nice atmosphere
The space and atmosphere are very nice but this is not fine dining. Presentation missed the mark in several areas—plastic serving dishes, salad dressing in condiment cups like a fast food restaurant, and standard salt and pepper shakers come to mind. The staff is also undertrained in proper serving and clearing, and are not well-versed in the menu or its prep. The food was good but not for the price point. Everything was too heavily salted and my scallops were overcooked. At half the price, this is worth considering but it falls short of what they’re trying to accomplish and definitely short for what they’re charging.
We really appreciate your feedback. We will be addressing your concerns for special events. With the feedback from our guests, we keep all things addressed in mind for training and potential changes. Thank you so much!
The only reason I downgraded my rating was because I was unaware of the Valentine's Day restricted menu and the elevated cost associated with it. We went the day after Valentine's Day and booked our reservation through Open Table. Open Table did not provide information on the special menu and pricing - that information was only available on Metropolitan's social media sites, which I did not review. The meal was very good but was priced approximately double the normal price. My view is that Open Table should incorporate some method to alert folks of special events.
Hello Robert! We always pride our venue on amazing food and service and I have been trying to work with OpenTable to be able to provide specific menu items for special events and days. I apologize for the inconvenience!! I hope you will come back and visit us soon!
When you are looking for an outstanding meal this is the place. 3rd time to visit and it is fast becoming our celebration restaurant.
Great food, great drinks, but the noise level makes it difficult to talk to others
Scallops and sweet potato butternut squash grits were excellent. Lamb chops were good as well. Drinks were outstanding. We’ll be back!
Excellent food, great service and ambiance. We had a lovely dinner.
The food was truly worth the price and drive. Fit for foodies!
One of the finest dining experiences I've ever had. The food was absolutely amazing!! The owners are wonderful warm people and my waitress gave me the best service I've ever experienced in a restaurant. If ever in the area again I will certainly return!
Es un sitio diferente en Amarillo por su ambiente, su carta.
Service was great. Duck was great.
Christmas brunch with friends
The ambience is pure comfort harking back to speakeasy. The filet and salmon were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening
We love this place. Good is excellent. Service is prompt and easy going. One of the best places in amarillo.
Thank you so much for your stellar review! We cannot wait to see you again!
Great food and drinks as always. Great place to listen to live music. Neal is the best bartender in town.
Neal is pretty amazing! Thank you so much for your 5 star review!
We loved the 1930’s vibe at Metropolitan. The brunch menu was well designed and offered great selections. The service was impeccable and all staff that we encountered was friendly and welcoming. The French toast was delicious and enough to share with all the extras included with the meal. We would love to return for dinner one night.
Our server Kensie was awesome. The appetizer were on time and fantastic.
Highly recommend this establishment in Amarillo. Food, service, ambiance - all excellent. With so many chain restaurants in the area, someone finally stepped up locally and created a treasure in this corner of the plains.
We will be back when we celebrate big nights or want fancy dinners! Very enjoyable with GREAT atmosphere, great drinks good food , and good service.
Excellent ambiance. Makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Service was very good. Attentive but not hovering. Food was good. Value was what we expected. All told a very nice dinner.
Sticky date cake was phenomenal
We went for family brunch for my grandmother’s birthday and had 2 small children with us. The service was phenomenal and our waitress was very attentive without being overbearing. Everything we ordered was delicious: banana toffee pancakes, scallops Benedict, chicken fried steak, huevos rancheros, and an omelet. The potatoes are cooked and seasoned perfectly. The scallops were cooked perfectly. We also had bellinis and mimosas, also excellent. We will definitely be back!
It is always a special occasion when we are at the Metropolitian. The Food is great, the drinks are first class, and the service is personal and detailed. When we walk in the door we feel pampered yet comfortable.
