So I love this restaurant and last night was disappointing. The service was very kind and friendly but slow. It took awhile for the food to arrive. The panzanella salad was overflowing with croutons - way too many, and i ate some and left 1/3 on my plate with the rest - though the salad itself was a tasty. The mussels looked and I was told by my companion that they were good, but the portion, for the price, was small. I will go back; its too cozy and sweet a spot to not try again, but hope the next visit will be what I have come to love about the place.

The word”exemplary” comes to mind. The Metropolis is an amazing example of an authentic, warm and high quality eatery. They were celebrating their 30th anniversary as a cornerstone of the Tremont neighborhood in Boston. It was clear that they enjoyed their craft, providing a variety of locals, tourists and friends with novel cuisine and beverages. I do dine out a good deal but that meal was special!
