Excellent deserts! Beer menu is too weak and limited. It would have been nice to know that the coconut shrimp were fried. Excellent pasta. Very good fish. It would have been nice if the restaurant offered some bread with the meal.

This restaurant in the Perelman Arts Center is a jewel: the food, service, ambiance are all great; the noise level is low; prices are reasonable. I had the Metropolis burger, done smashed, with cheese, jalapeno peppers & truffle sauce, served with a very fresh salad & skinny cheesey fries --- yummy. My friend had a chive & cheese omelette, that was fluffy, tasty perfection. Our server Jessica N made sure we were comfortable, relaxed & on time for a 2pm performance.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed in our dinner experience. The website listed a special price-fixed menu, but we weren’t offered that option, which made our dinner significantly more expensive than anticipated. The full menu was interesting, so we stayed…. I ordered the trout - I even asked the server for his opinion and he encouraged me to try it. Although the dish was tasty (though small), it was definitely NOT trout; it was obviously a piece of pink salmon. Maybe they thought the multitude of sauces would mask the swap? They should not have made a substitution without telling me first. My husband had the fried chicken - a very generous portion, but it, too, was overly drowned in sauces that detracted from the dish. All in all, our dinner was pleasant, but not as advertised, which was too bad.

I go to Metropolis often as I live in the hood and its beautiful building and restaurant and not outrageously expensive. Last night the service and food delivery were slow and not what I was used to. The waiter seemed indifferent to my complaint on slow food delivery. Love going there but it might not be my go-to place for myself or guests I'm entertaining again.

The atmosphere was very pleasant and most of the food was excellent. I advise anyone going to skip the coconut shrimp but the Caesar salad was delicious as well as the cornbread and the fried chicken. Rarely do you find a restaurant attached to a performing arts venue that is so pleasant. The noise level was a welcome relief from most New York City restaurants. I’m quite acceptable.

The food was outstanding, but the service was not good. Our waiter seemed lost and barely stopped by our table. We literally had to wave him down to get his attention.

Very good tasting food served in a casual elegant dining room in the Perelman Performing Arts Center NYC building. Good portion sizes-nicely shareable in most cases. Among the small plates : Cornbread and Fluke Crudo were very good. Coconut shrimp was tasty but slightly overdone with the shrimp and additions becoming too big for the lettuce rap and thus not convenient to eat. Gnocchi as a large dish was OK but not distinctive. Coffee Smoked Duck, as a large plate, was excellent. American Dream as dessert was tasty - it is best shared as it is too big for one person. Wine options by the glass were not distinctive. Somewhat distracting from the dining experience was the noise level in the large hall which is shared by the restaurant along with other activities. If there were a way to isolate at least part of the restaurant from the high noise level and reserve that for serious diners, it will be good. That Section could offer “ Tasting Menus” with some special dishes. On the plus side : The restaurant is very good and convenient place to dine for patrons attending a show at the Perelman Performing Arts Center
