Metropole 21C used to be one of our preferred spots in Cincy but we were disappointed by the lack of ambiance (we were there on a Sat from 6 to 7.30pm and it was quiet) and the food that was served lukewarm, borderline cold. After complaining, the management came towards us and took 2 entrees out of 3 from the bill which was a nice gesture. Not a great experience this time around but still the best burger in town (that meal was served perfectly :)
This was an unimpressive experience from the drinks, charcuterie, entrees, and service. I made reservations at 6:30pm on a Thursday and the place was only half full. The cocktails were small and took too long to arrive. The bread that came with the charcuterie was bland, when we asked for another options we were brought some crackers that looked like they were from Pepperidge Farm. When we asked the waiter how much longer our entrees would take since it had been over 30 minute since we placed our order and he said he had not put our order in with the kitchen because we still had the charcuterie plate at our table. I have never had a waiter wait to put in an order when you ordered appetizers/charcuterie and he did not inform us ahead of time to let him know when we wanted our entrees placed. I ordered the scallops and the other guest ordered the cheeseburger and both were just average. I would not recommend this restaurant to other diners as there are much better options elsewhere.

Our Book Club chose to discuss over lunch at the Metropole since our book's setting waas the Metropole in Moscow. We loved the service, the attentiveness, and the food. I especially love the 7 hour egg!
Our experience was great. Everyone was very pleased with the entire experience. The food was superb, staff very attentive and accommodating. I have celiac ( true allergy to gluten) and they did an excellent job.

Our experience was very good. There were something on the menu for everyone. We enjoyed the burnt carrot salad, shaved brussel sprout pear salad, pickeled shrimp, cheeseburger and fries, and the salmon. I would recommend the Rye Not cocktail, excellent drink. A good time was had by all.
I’m afraid the chef’s aspirations outshine his execution. I ordered roasted garlic chicken. It came on a bed of puréed I’m not sure what, except it was cold. The chicken itself, while tender, lacked flavor and the skin was not crispy. Wines by the glass were rather steep although my New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc was very good. Meals end with a goblet of lemon cotton candy; weirdly good.

We had a good time. It was worth trying. The food is a bit artsy for our taste. My wife and I like a bit of the classics just done very well. We weren't a fan of The Orchid either just for reference. The salmon and steak were both good and the prices were fair. We weren't a fan of The chopped Brussel sprouts salad. We were also seated so closely to the tables next to us I almost felt the need to introduce myself to them. So the night was not very intimate.
We try and make it a couple of times a year. Great as always. Had parents, brother and sister in-laws with for their first visit, and were extremely impressed!! Great bar, great food!!
Something out of the ordinary and unique, yet down-to-earth. Very tasty and not crowded. Specifically went for business breakfast meeting and would highly recommend for any executives looking for a quiet place.
My wife and I both ordered the burnt carrot salad, hamburger and bottle of wine from a server named Robert. We had asked to have the hamburgers to be "no pink". Robert said"medium well" and we said yes. When the burgers arrived they were both medium rare. When we told the server that we wanted them cooked more he was very flip and said "I trust the kitchen". Apparently he must be getting tipped by the kitchen. The burgers came back not to order but better. The manager stopped by and we informed of the situation. He was very apologetic. All of our other experiences at the Metropole were very good except this one.
Had a really nice time for Valentine's Day. Burnt carrot salad was delicious as always.
The staff from the moment we walked in and during the entire the meal was quite unpleasant. Greeter did not speak on word during our time with her and our wait staff was not far behind. Overall the food was very good.
My wife and I decided to give it a try, we walked around the art museum before dinner and it was intriguing. We had reservations for 9:00pm and thought we'd sit at the bar before hand, so twenty minutes before 9:00pm we went to the hostess and we were seated instead. We started with gin and tonics, they make their own tonic water and I HIGHLY recommend it. The service was excellent, water was never empty, the waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave excellent suggestions. Chef Jared Bennett's knowledge of flavors shows in his meal's. I if I could eat there every day I would.
Our table of 6 tried a variety of items from the menu. The burnt carrot salad was delicious, shrimp first course very good, cucumber soup-tasty but small portion. All of the entrees were very good- crispy salmon, hanger steak, duck breast, chicken and cheeseburger. I loved the wheat berry side dish with the hanger steak. Our server didn’t make use feel rushed at all. It was a very pleasant evening. I would go back.
A very good experience. The service was helpful and friendly, however a little pushy in trying to get us to order more than we really wanted.

Service and food were equally amazing. Great wine selection. Great selection of starters, salads, entrees, etc. The burnt carrot salad was delicious. I ordered the salmon and it was cooked to perfection. One of the best pieces of salmon I have eaten in a restaurant in a very long time. We'll be going back again, for sure.
Stayed at the 12C Hotel and had Sunday brunch. Wonderful extensive a la carte menu selections. Many healthy options (but we shared the warm cinnamon roll bathed in salty carmel sauce) with our mimosa (complimentary) and espressos.
Wonderful weekend “vacation “ with wife and daughter. Great room, outstanding art work and interesting food. Would certainly return!

Our server showed no expression, no smile, no interest in us. She had no knowledge of the menu.
I ordered a shaved turkey sandwich, in addition to a salad, which was delicious.
I was disappointed in the bread on the sandwich. It was bread that I would see at Kroger. Not grilled, just unappealing and cold.
We asked for some bread while we were waiting for our meal. Out comes some delicious wonderful quality bread that had been grilled with olive oil or butter.
I called the manager over to discuss our situation and she was extremely helpful and caring.
She took my sandwich back and brought it out with the delicious bread.
She could not have been more helpful. She insisted that I not pay. I told her that was not necessary, but she insisted. We left feeling much better after talking to her.
My suggestion re: the server; that she needs to be very knowledgeable about the menu, that she smile at her customers and be attentive to them.
I went with my 91 year old mother. She had the Burnt Carrot Salad and absolutely loved it. She and I enjoyed the Lemon surprise with the check. I had the home made tonic water. It is so refreshing and has such a great flavor, I highly recommend it. You can have it straight (as I did) or as a mixed drink. Entree's are a little pricey, but prepared with originality.
Fantastic food, as always. Amazing wait staff. Jeremy had detailed knowledge of every menu item. It was like talking to the chef! Hats off to the chef as well for creating innovative and fresh twists on familiar comfort foods.
Jeremy was our server and he was fantastic. Metropole has my favorite burger ever so that's what I got! Loved all the desserts we ordered and the cotton candy at the end was so yummy.
We really enjoyed our meal at Metropole. I really think the vegetable dishes really shine. Try the beat latkes or the brussel sprout salad. The burger and fries is always a great comfort go-to, but the 'open-face butternut squash lasagna' is really flavorful. Great wine list as well, they have a great variety of California pinots and rare finds that are fun to explore.
Saturday evening dinner on 1-13-18 was our sixth meal at Metropole in five years. A few years ago we ceased dining at Metropole after experiencing two meals with entrées that were either luke warm in temperature or cold. After an absence of several years we returned to Metropole this past Saturday in hopes that the restaurant had resolved the food temperature issues. Both my wife and I ordered the same entrée during our recent dinner, the entrée appeared on the menu as "Coal Roasted Butternut Squash Lasagna". The food temperature was fine, however the composition of the entrée was not as advertised, there was nearly no butternut squash in the dish, instead the entrée consisted almost entirely of spaghetti squash. While there's nothing wrong with spaghetti squash, it's not how the entrée is described on the menu and certainly not what we ordered. We noticed a restaurant management representative addressing a concern of some sort with another table, so we stopped her as she passed by and politely expressed our the dissatisfaction with our entrées. A patron at the table next to ours had also ordered the same Roasted Butternut Squash entrée, she leaned over to us while we were speaking with the manager and informed the manager that her entrée as well was nearly all spaghetti squash with little no butternut squash. The restaurant appropriately adjusted our bill in deference to our dissatisfaction, while that's a considerate gesture it's not a fix. Of the six dinners we've eaten at Metropole this was the third time there were issues with the food brought to the table, a 50% failure rate. There are multiple other fine dining establishments in downtown Cincinnati such as BOCA, Jean-Robert's Table, SOTTO and Orchids at Palm Court to name a few. Over the years we've enjoyed dozens of exquisite meals between these other restaurants, not once have we experienced issues with the food brought to the table with any of them. We won't gamble again on Metropole going forward.
Nice atmosphere, good food and convenient location for theater.
Our waiter, Jeffrey, was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu. H suggested the cavatelli for an appetizer and it was very good. Duck was well prepared. Portion sizes were just enough to leave room for delicious butterscotch cheesecake with French pressed coffee. Will definitely be back pre theatre.
Wonderful dinner, we needed to be at the Aronoff for a show and they accommodated our tight schedule. Waiter suggested delicious things we wouldn't have tried otherwise, the kitchen will split dishes so they can be shared. Ordered something labeled "lasagna" which came on little squares of flatbread...so NOT lasagna, but at the same time it was delicious.
Our waiter forgot about us at the end of our meal but NOT HIS FAULT as he was in charge of all of the tables along the front windows, (too many for one person to handle.) His area was seated pretty much at the same time and he was slammed.
Great food and service. I had the chicken with chard, mushrooms, and polenta and my fiancee had the hamburger. The chicken was tender, juicy, and had great flavor. My fiancee absolutely loved the burger, which she says was the best burger she's ever had. We'll definitely be back again.
With a limited menu at brunch, I would have hoped for more hits than misses... however, that was not the case. Service was slow, and the restaurant seemed to be well staffed, given that there were few tables filled. Menu was limited New Years Day, no problem with that, however - food should have been fresh. The grilled cheese was more on the cool side vice warm side for a hot sandwich. The sweet potato, butternut squash hash was a total miss. The eggs were tough, rubbery, and not even cooked well. From a flavor profile, it even needed some help or a bit of a sauce. The charred carrot salad was AWESOME. The fries. AWESOME. So - a bit of a mixed review. I'll give it more shots, but on this round, felt a little lacking.
