Went to Metro 8 on a Saturday night prior to DPAC and it was great again. This continues to stay in the rotation each year. The appetizers were wonderful, the main entree was fantastic and the desserts (crepes filled with Carmel) was unbelievable. I am amazed at how this restaurant continues to have fantastic service and food after so many years - a credit to the husband and wife owners. Don’t miss out on this gem.
Excellent food, excellent service; we will definitely return.
Food was wonderful. Sorry I didn't know about Metro 8 sooner. Our server was outstanding; she definitely added to the evening's fun. I look forward to returning to Metro 8.
Food was amazing and wait staff was wonderful! Would highly recommend
What an awesome place!!!! I was visiting my son and he wanted to try this place out. I’m so glad we did! Highly recommend!!
Steakhouse with Argentinian roots, but also good variety on the menu and wine list. Excellent service, not far from DPAC, good option before shows
The Empanadas were excellent and steaks and fish were also quite good. Some bottles of wine are half price on Thursdays which offered a value for a nice bottle of wine. The only negative is when we walked in, there was a sewage odor. Once you are in, it is not so noticeable but that was a bit of a turn off upon entry. The food and service made up for that and I would definitely go back. This was my second visit to Metro 8.
We had a 8:30 reservation. The restaurant was very bright and many of the tables had not been reset, which made it look messy. The candles on the tables were not lit. Service was fine, but the food was unimpressive. My steak had to go back since it was served rare instead of medium-rare. The broccolini was greasy and the spinach had globs of cheese, but not much flavor. We ordered what I assumed to be traditional steakhouse fare, so I was very disappointed. We won’t go back.
My daughter ordered a medium steak but she got a rare steak which was very rubbery and chewy steak(skirt steak or churrasco). I have been there for the third time and first 2 times were great but the third time was terrible and I am type of person don’t usually complain but I did complained to the waitress about the the very rare steak but I don’t think she told the manager so I left with bad taste in my mouth. There were only one other table with customer on Friday evening so this will be my last visit.
Metro 8 is one of our top go-to places. It is quiet, the food is consistently wonderful, and the people are welcoming. Highly recommended!
This had a 5 star rating so I made reservations for 4. The service was great. However, I ordered lamb chops medium. They were the toughest I have ever eaten, And I eat lamb twice a month. Another co worker ordered the 32oz cowboy rib eye. I told him it is usually one of the tenderest cuts. He ate half of it, but the other half was tough and grisly. He had a hard time even cutting it with the knife. I am sure this is not the norm, but it WAS our experience. The other meals were fine.
Absolutely my favorite place in Durham. The service and food was spectacular, and the Cosmopolitan is the best. I would recommend for any special occasion or just a night out with friends.
This was our first visit but will certainly not be the last. Excellent meal served in a very relaxed atmosphere. Our server was not intrusive but we never lacked for anything as her attention to detail was fantastic. Greta place that I will highly recommend.
My favorite restaurant in Durham. Excellent service and the food is delicious. Love Metro 8!
The food was excellent, service was excellent. Waitress was attentive without being obnoxious. Food took a reasonable amount of time to arrive. Flavors were great - empanadas, soup, provoleta, meat. The chocolate souffle is so good ! We were expecting for it to be tasty - it is out of this world.
Noise level goes from low to medium, most of the time low. I would highly recommend this place for a couple celebrating an occasion, or two or three couples going out for dinner together. Not sure this is a place for kids or teenagers - more for grown ups. The check was about half of what we were expecting to pay - or, in other words, we would have paid twice and be happy with it. We're sold - we can't wait for next weekend to go there again. Sure to become regulars.
Metro 8 never ceases to delight me with delicious cuisine, the very best and friendly service, and a wonderful setting. This is, bar none, my favorite spot to dine in Durham, and I have tried many! You must try the churrasco and be sure to put your order in for the chocolate soufflé! Francisco and Cassie have created a jewel of a dining experience in Durham.
My wife and I went on a Sunday night to celebrate our 20th anniversary and both of us found it to be delightful. The chocolate souffle is amazing!
Best churrasco steak in NC. The dulce de leche crepes were delicious.
Great little place to go for a date night. Not too expensive and food was great with great service!
One heck of a place. Every one of the staff came & checked on us & gave us exceptional service. We will be back often.
A lovely quaint place. Felt at ease there. Waitress was super nice and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
Visiting son in college and took him and friends for a nice dinner
The atmosphere was perfect. Comfortable and elegant setting and the waitress was very nice. The steak was mediocre and the salmon was very fishy and dry. Was so disappointed.
The food was well worth the price, based on quality, presentation, flavor, freshness, attention to detail. I did not give value a great score because I know many who think paying 30 for a fantastic steak meal is too much. Not so for me when I get a steak that wonderful, cooked to perfection, paired with great wine and excellent company. Definitely a do-again!
Great service and the food was delicious!
Fantastic service, excellent food as always!
The server was exceptional and the meal was very good. It was a relaxed and pleasant experience.
This was the our first time visiting Metro8. It was such an intimate setting, quiet, and service was on par. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and the attentiveness didn't stop (but they weren't obnoxious about it).
Open table didn't have a "good" time for us to reserve a table but I called the restaurant & they were able to accommodate a better time without any hesitation.
As a vegetarian, I had no issues in finding something to eat. The food was delicious, service was great, and they made the first time there a great experience. We will be back!
An excellent restaurant with class on 9th Street in Durham!
Met with daughter & grandson in nearby college when we were visiting area. Fabulous meal and added this restaurant to our favorites ! None of us had been here before but found it on Trip Advisor, so glad we did. We all loved it. Lamb chops were superb as were all the other dinners.
The food was delicious. The service was very good. Disappointed that we didn't get to sit in the main dining room, which is really cozy and cute. The room we sat in was just set-up with tables and folding chairs. No charm.
Lovely evening. We went on the early side and had a booth that was tucked away and very quiet. The service was excellent and we were not rushed at all. The service team worked well together. Food was delicious and priced about as expected for a great steak in a nice restaurant. I can’t understand why I have never been before, but definitely plan to go again.
The service, setting, and churrasco were all outstanding. Our server and the hostess were both delightful. The restaurant itself is warm and inviting. Comfortable and interesting, with lovely hardwood plank floors and reserved decor. There were a couple of issues with the food. One was that the pan peppercorn sauce for the steak au poivre was missing all acidity and didn't seem to be worked over any fond so it came out as a imbalanced and bland cream sauce. The other was that the tomato used for the provolone-based app was of the whitish-waxy grocery store variety; might be better to find a variety off-season that has more flavor. Nonetheless *everything* else was fantastic--all the other food and drinks alike--and we will definitely visit again.
Excellent food for the price. Parking is difficult to find though
All around great evening - fabulous food and wonderfully attentive (but not intrusive) service.
Server forgot appetizer and dessert. Everything else was great. Food was incredible as usual.
Great food and excellent service. The restaurant is a little chilly on colder evenings.
Durham’s hidden gem. Churasco is always perfect. Our favorite place for outstanding food and great service.
New to us, this little restaurant on 9th Street did a nice job of very good food at a fair price. Although the server was untrained and inattentive at times, everyone enjoyed the drinks and meal, enough that I'd visit to try other things, as well. The soup was tasty, large portion; a very nicely done Caesar (though the croutons had not been omitted, as requested); really good steaks. The side items that came with the entrees were small but also well done.
As others have noted, park legally, ie, not in the lot across the street but on the street or in the pay lot.
Metro 8, we'll be back.
