Meta Ratings and Reviews
It's funny that you ask. I have been going to Sole for years. I order the same dish Chicken Parm Ravioli. When I got my dish this time after waiting almost 45 min it was on the cool side but I decided not to say anything. - Also upon eating my food I found a small piece of metal. Looked like the flip part to open a can of sauce or something. I didn't mention anything because I knew my kids would never continue eating there food. I wasnt gonna say anything until I received this email. I have always enjoyed the food but not this time.
My wife and I come to Meta frequently and every time is better then the next. The veal sole is still my favorite dish and it’s hard not to get along with the chicken parm raviolis. The owner is always there which is nice and he checks on every table.
This has to be one of my favorite restaurants in Oceanside and one of my favorite Italian restaurants on Long Island.
We needed to do some cheering up of a friend and what better than a great meal and conversation to do just that. It was our first time going to Meta and will definitely not be our last. Everything was very good but the Gnocchi was over the top! I expected the typical lead weights but this was light and fluffy and sheer bliss! Portions are large and meant to be taken home.
Our old standard is now our new go to.
Six family members had an excellent dinner at Meta recently. We shared Calamari, Rice Balls, Salad and soup. All delicious . Entrees included lightly fried shrimp on a bed of garlic spinach with a Buerre Blanc sauce. Mixed sautéed peppers over fresh halibut , chicken parm ravioli and short ribs were all great. Desserts were also good.
This is the second time we ate at Meta since it changed names from Soleil. This time when we went we had gift certicates from Soleil and Meta honored them. The food is excellent. My favorite appetizer is the eggplant meatballs. Our waitress was so nice and helpful with menu. Unfortunately I don't know her name. The owner (I think he was the owner) stopped at the table to see if everything was ok. Very nice staff and would definitely recommend this restaurant.
The former Sole has reopened! Can't say that I really saw any difference, but maybe that's a good thing; liked the old menu, and didn't want to say good-bye to some old favorites like Caesar salad in an asiago cup and Nana's Meatballs. This time I tried the salad special (red leaf lettuce with mango, walnuts, goat cheese and a blood orange vinaigrette) and Pop Pop's Pasta (dared to try pine nut and raisin meatballs, which were delicious). Sadly, we were much to full for dessert or even cappuccino, which I remember being quite good last time. Maybe it was the second basket of bread our most friendly and helpful waiter brought?
A nice evening out. Not the prettiest dining room -- not where I'd take a date or go for quiet conversation -- but excellent food and a charming staff.
Went to Meta for a friends bday dinner. Both food and service was great! Everyone was very happy with everything, from the delicious sangria to the baked clams, amazing salad special with different fruit and a mango vinegraitte and eggplant meatballs to the delicious entrees...Nonnas Ragu (tastes like your Italian Grandmas!) Shrimp limoncello and cod special. Meta is defnitely a neighborhood gem!
I will never go back to Meta. I am on a strict diet due to diabetes. My doctor does not want me to have carbs with my dinner. I asked to get a vegetable instead of the risotto cake and was told there are no substitutes. I explained the situation to the waitress and she said they will make no exceptions. After arguing with the waitress for 5 minutes she came back and said we will give you extra spinach that comes with the dish but we will not give you any different vegetable. I won't go back because I am not going to argue with someone every time I dine. I go out to relax not argue. I now know they have a strict policy of no substitutions and unfortunately all the fish dishes that are not fried have a carb as a side dish.
I Dine out at least twice a week, go into the city and I have never had any restaurant not let me substitute a carb. The food was very good however I feel they do not care about their customers and don't want to bother.
