About Met On Main

The cobblestones of Nantucket’s Main Street is home to the MET Restaurant Group’s fifth location, MET on MAIN. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a lively back patio, perfect for post beach cocktails. MET on MAIN, a European café with an island flair focuses on both simply grilled and creatively prepared dishes using the highest quality ingredients available including an abundance of Nantucket’s homegrown vegetables and the island’s fresh, local seafood. The core menu has some of the MET’s signature items but also features bold flavors that arouse thoughts of tropical retreats. Ate their chicken special on Monday night. The grilled chicken was tastless .The fried was served burnt. They took back the fried which came out in ten minutes , naturally everything else was cold. The fried was tasteless and simply bad although not burnt. Did I mention their was only one other couple abt it took forty minutes to burn the chicken

A really terrific lunch overall. It keeps getting better and better. A little slow on wine delivery and waiter had a poor attitude until I asked him to send the Manager over to the table. He never complied with that request but Service and pure kindness exuded for the remainder of our meal. We all have bad days and we must all learn to internalize.

A bright spot when on Nantucket during a tropical storm! What a delightful meal we had, great wine, superb service. The rice bowl with tofu is delicous, as is the clam chowder and burger. A perfect meal on a dreary evening. (PS, I agree with the suggestion to do a shrimp or chicken option with the rice bowl. I love tofu, many do not, and a pity some might miss this amazing option.) We will be back when on island.

The best things about Met on Main were a delicious Cauliflower appetizer and the Sweet Shop Sundae. Otherwise, none of us loved our entrees which were served on wooden boards (cute but not practical). The waiter and owner checked on us regularly but the attention was not enough to offset slow bar service and mediocre food. All in all a disappointment on a slow night.

This is consistently a good spot and the outdoor patio in back is quite magical. Their outdoor furnishings are very comfortable - not always the case in other spots - and the lighting and the addition of a fire pit make it one of my favorite outdoor dining spots for ambiance and comfort.

The food is reliably good and the servers are consistently friendly, attentive, and helpful. A recent bowl of clam chowder proved to a real winner. Creamy (without that overly thick, gloppy texture that some chowders develop) and very flavorful. The fried clam garnish was a nice touch. A large green salad with kale, pumpkin seeds, carrots and broccoli was far more delicious than expected. I mean, I like all those salad ingredients anyway, but they candied the pumpkin seeds, and bound it all together with a wonderful green goddess dressing. Make someone try it who thinks they don't like kale salad. It could convert them. Get the avocado toast, but ask the kitchen to make sure they toast the bread more than usual. Otherwise you will eat around the delicious, crispy edges and be disappointed when you get to the interior...which hasn't really been toasted in my experience (multiple times).

Really enjoyed our lunch on the outdoor patio in the back. Our server was great; friendly, helpful and kept an eye on us to make sure we had everything we needed.

Our food was delicious. The rice bowl had great flavors. I would encourage the chef to offer it with other proteins instead of just the tofu option. It would be wonderful with chicken, pork or salmon too.

My avocado toast with burrata was listed under appetizers, but once I added the optional tomato/corn addition and the lobster, it was a pretty substantial portion and a meal in itself. I did get extreme sticker shock at the $44.00 final price and wish I had asked first what the "market price" for the lobster was. I know it's summer in Nantucket...but still. It felt a bit overpriced. Thank goodness it was delicious.

The biscuits....are nothing less than perfection. Order them. You're welcome.

Exceptional service (Jorge) and fantastic food. We went at the perfect time (noon on Sunday) sat outside and were offered our choice of options from the brunch menu, bar bites, and the lunch menu. Everything was delicious. Got the Nutella French toast, huevos rancheros, onion strings, and lobster mac & cheese. Bloody Mary options were a fun touch, too. Can't say enough good things about this place.

I have dined at Met on Main about 5-6 times when I have visited Nantucket. The food is consistently good, but the service is questionable. The last two times I have sat at the bar the service has been down right horrible. This past Friday was the worst! My niece and I were virtually ignored, we asked for popcorn as an app, as we were famished when we got there and it came out 45 minutes, with the meal! I asked several times for it and was told that the kitchen was so busy they couldn't do "courses", I mean it was popcorn. They did comp it, but I even had to chase down the wait staff for the check, we were there for almost 2 hours for 2 sandwiches and some popcorn. The service was similarly as bad at the bar last Summer. I had customized my salad a bit, and my friend's came out the same way, she tried to send it back and got an eye roll. My suggestion is to sit at a table and not the bar when you go here, as the service is much better. I love the food here, which "almost' makes the horrific service worth it.

Kitchen was backed up because the weather was not conducive for a beach day. We sat outside which was a lovely spot. The waitress was not attentive. We received our starters and entrees at the same time. She offered to get another glass of wine for my husband but not for me. Then I had to ask again when I had ordered it. My kids requested burgers without cheese. They forgot on one, clearly scraped it off and brought it back out. The burgers fell apart-not packed/shaped well. We had to ask for napkins and utensils when the food cane out. The food was good despite the wait.

The worst service, and the restaurant was nearly empty. We ordered the avocado toast which was raw stale bread- we told the waited and he simply shrugged his shoulders... and still charged us!!!!

We ate outside. We tried several dishes and they were all very good. I just thought the place could be cleaner. Seemed sticky. Bench seats were messy. It was pretty expensive for lunch too. But the food was terrific.

Met on Main was lovely! We sat outside and they had heaters for when the air cooled down. The food was good and the service was great. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back.

They have a great little Bloody Mary checkoff menu but the drinks appeared and they lacked substance (thin watery). The crispy calamari tasted liked it was reheated in a microwave. I've had brunch there and was pleased with the offerings and environment.

Great bistro food when you are looking for something a little more casual walking around Main St. We went for Sunday Brunch for Stroll and it was perfect. Our server was friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend.

This should be a great restaurant but always disappoints. The night of our reservation we showed up 5 minutes early and the door was locked and lights off. Someone was finishing their clean up and didn't even have the courtesy to come to the door to explain why they had closed early (not sure I wanted to be the only diners anyway). Went to Lola 41 and had a fantastic meal in a fun setting.

Isn't it a shame when Sunday brunch is spoiled by a single act of poor service? I arrived to a one-third full dining room and was made to wait ten minutes to be seated, while the two servers avoided eye contact. Two men, who arrived after me and sat at the bar, were immediately provided menus and cutlery. Frustrated, I asked a passing server whether I needed to wait to be seated. She spat out "yes, unless you're sitting at the bar," and then continued to ignore me. The other server finally made his way over--and acting annoyed at his colleague--showed me to a seat. The remainder of my visit was pleasant enough, but the damage had been done. A single, unprofessional interaction is enough to spoil the overall experience.

Reading other reviews of Met on Main, service appears to be inconsistent, at best. Let's hope management is paying attention.

We had a reservation through Open Table and the restaurant chose to close early because they had not had a customer in an hour. They did not call us, so we only found out when we walked in and found the place empty, the kitchen closed, and all the staff sitting at the bar. They were not even apologetic when they heard we had a reservation. Luckily we found a great place to eat instead!

We went back the next day for lunch and they seemed very understaffed. We were told it would be 10-20 minutes for a table so we sat at the bar. When they went to seat us at the bar, we noticed that there were plenty of open tables to sit. The bartender seemed very distracted and kept complaining to the waiter that she was not even supposed to be working. She then kept disappearing for long periods of time, leaving the bar unattended. The waiter was doing his best to manage the whole restaurant, but there was only so much he could do with no support. The manager also disappeared for long periods of time and was not help at all to the staff. It was just a mess all around!

We went on Taco Thursday and loved the special. It was end of the season, so the service was really slow. There was a family with loud children that took all the servers time and energy.

The staff at Met on Main was extremely rude! We made a reservation over a week in advance, but were told that apparently we didn't make the right kind of reservation, so despite asking for an out door table, we were were seated inside, near the bathroom, while there were empty tables outside the entire night . After that, the wait staff checked on us repeatedly, asking if we were finished as early as ten minutes after delivering our main course. Clearly this restaurant is only looking to turn tables as quickly as possible, and doesn't care at all about their customers. Not coming back.

The portions were very generous. We could not finish any of the great dishes. The crispy chicken was perfect! On our flight home, we talked to another passenger who loved the lobster ! People are talking about Met on Main!

We went to church and then onto the Met on Main. We were seated in the outdoor area behind the restaurant. It was quite pleasant and lovely. The waiter seemed busy but no red flags. Fast forward to an hour after we arrived and we had read most of the Sunday New York Times and no food yet. It was a lovely morning and the time had passed quickly. We finally asked where our breakfast was. We were told our order came up but our waiter never picked it up and they threw it away. We paid for our coffee and juice and left without eating breakfast. We were told by other customers that the food was good. We just never had a chance to find out ourselves. A very disappointing experience.

Good food but poor service. inattentive wait staff and slow. We had lobster and the waitress disappeared without providing proper utensils. Manager came by much later and long after we struggled with the food. It would have gotten cold if we didn't cut our hands up trying to dine. Also up charged by using top shelf liquors on standard drinks when these were not requested. Felt a bit ripped off by the whole dinner.

What a surprise. We were seated outdoors in the back and the lighting and atmosphere was wonderful. The Jaques burger was challenging larger and equal in flavor. The crab cake with a sunny side egg was delightful. We also went for brunch several days later. Also very good.

Five of us ate at Met on Main. Often the restaurant's food is inconsistent in quality however this experience was bad. We brought friends who were "foodies" and we were embarrassed with our choice of restaurant. The waiter was pleasant and efficient but most of out dishes were disappointing: the Paris duo's salmon tartare was bland and the some of the chips were too hard, the salmon on my salad was raw and was sent back the same fish was returned after being zapped in the microwave, the fish on the fish and chips was over cooked, the mezze plates had chickpeas that were dry and old. We each had one cocktail and they were good. With three of us having just appetizers $250 bill for poor quality food, we will not go back anytime soon.

The food was great, but the service could not have been worse. We had a reservation and were met with nothing but rude, unaccommodating service. The manager refused to seat us for 45 minutes after our reservation even though tables were available.

Once we got our food, it was super tasty, but the service makes the overall experience a 1 star. Disappointed because I heard great things.
