Met Bar and Grill Dedham Ratings and Reviews
Third time here, rough experience. We were there with a party of 4 adults and a toddler and the hostess was confused when I asked for a high chair. She then led us to bar-style high-top tables that were sitting on an elevated platform. I told her that it would work with a high chair, and she was confused until I explained that a high chair would fall over off of that platform. To be polite, I asked if a nearby empty table that we've sat at before would be better and she said she wasn't sure it would work with a high chair. It was a normal table. Big, normal height, plenty of space. At that point I said "Yes, it would." And we sat down to a night of slow service. On top of that, they brought our toddler's dinner in a bowl that had about 10 chips around the edge. Not going back here for awhile, I think.
Short rib tacos appetizer was amazing - very creative and flavorful combination of ingredients. Burgers are good, lots of options and well priced. Cookie skillet pie for dessert is fantastic, I've come here just for that before! The best value entrees are the burgers, the other entrees are at high price points for what they are.
Met a colleague here for a business lunch. It was empty at noon on a Friday but quickly filled up. We both got burgers, since it is billed as a burger bar. They were decent--better than most but not the best I have ever had. Still, good for lunch. Good service too.
I was very disappointed. Terrible service. Will not go back. I expected this to be more upscale but it was noisy and the service was absolutely terrible. We waited a very long time between ordering drinks, apps and actually ordering our food. A friend had an allergy and the waitress had a lot of trouble figuring out how to handle the requests for food ingredients or to have something 'put on the side' . We ordered more drinks partway through the meal and they took more than 20 minutes to arrive. Including the repeated requests for more water!! maybe the bar was backed up but I know the waitress can get water on her own.
It was our first time and unfortunately we weren't impressed. Our table also wasn't wiped clean thoroughly. We went for an early dinner, 5:00, so it wasn't busy at all. While our waitress was friendly, she was very inattentive.
I ordered the chicken Caesar salad and my husband got a burger. Both were only mediocre and not extremely flavorful. Best part of our meal was the fries and cocktail.
We would give this place one more shot.
I have been a loyal patron for several months, but the quality of the service has been steadily going downhill. This will be my final visit. I have given them several chances to improve, but it keeps getting worse. The food is delicious, but I'd avoid going if you have less than an hour and a half to wait for food, even if they're not busy.
After arriving for our reservation, us and several other diners stood at the empty host station for over 10 minutes before anyone came up to help us. The manager was pacing back and forth, looked at us several times, but never came over to assist. After we were finally seated, I ordered the Jacques Burger as an omelette. About 20 minutes after that, the manager came over to tell me that the kitchen wouldn't be able to make the make the Jacques as an omelette, due to the hash browns not integrating into the eggs properly. I told him to have the kitchen leave them on the side, and he stormed off to the kitchen. About 20 minutes go by, and still no food. The dining room was less than half full, and we began noticing other tables (who were seated after we ordered) starting to get their food at a far more expeditious pace. My glass of water was empty for over 10 minutes before the server noticed and refilled it, even though she came over twice while we were waiting. I finally asked where the food was, as I had to get to work, and we had already been there for almost an hour at that point. We were informed that our food would be out in a few seconds. 10 minutes later, the food finally came. I asked for the check, since I was about to be late to work. She dropped it off, and I immediately put my card in it, and placed it at the edge of the table. She did not retrieve the check until 7 minutes after we had finished eating. At no point did anybody apologize for the wait, and the demeanor of the manager was the final straw. I will never dine here again, and I will be certain to make sure my friends, family, or coworkers avoid The Met.
Manager and server told me that my meal was gluten free but I ended up getting horribly sick a few hours later. The service was great and the ambiance was fine, but might not be the safest place for someone with celiac disease.
Not as good as in the past. Food has always been fine. Servers have been hit and miss, and this time a little more towards the miss. Want a server who is genuinely interested in making my experience a good one. I realize that's a difficult thing to do...to have someone always "on" for every table that he or she services, but when they are essentially working for tips then they should be professional, polite, and timely. Our server was somewhat timely, but the politeness didn't really exist.
I'll go back simply because it's a convenient place, and my kids enjoy the food, but it's getting old having to write the same reviews all over town.
Awful experience. ..terrible service not beong noticed by staff for over 20 minutes, even moved tables to bar area and still didn't get waited on so had to order our own drinks at the bar as well as then placed food order there. Tables dirty, staff didn't want to be there and food was less than mediocre. Stated disappointment with hostess and she also seemed indifferent to the experience we had. Wot go back, recommend all avoid.
I used openTable because we wanted a reservation specifically so we would not have to wait. We got there on time, but they didn't have a table. Then they seated 2 groups who did not have reservations before us. So after 25 minutes we sat down and ate at the bar ... What is the point of making a reservation if they can't hold the reservation - use to come here often - very dissapointing
This is literally one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. It's a total slop house - rude staff, had to wait 20 minutes for a table even though I had a reservation, the waitress was clearly trying to turn the table over as quickly as possible, we had our appetizers within 5 minutes, and our entrees within two minutes after we finished the appetizers. All told, I guess the very quick service was a good thing because it meant we could leave very quickly one of the noisiest, most unpleasant places I have ever eaten in. The food was only mediocre, service awful and noise level intolerable. Stay away!!
Met Bar is our favorite restaurant within Legacy Place. Great drink menu and an amazing head bartender (Rich), good menu choices for meat lovers and vegetarians alike, and all the servers we've had have been excellent. You can customize your burger any way you'd like and the sides are all good. It's super convenient to be able to make a reservation when you have movie tickets but if you're just stopping in for a drink or not in a rush I recommend sitting at the bar!
Second Sunday in a row for brunch and they delivered once again. Food was prepared excellently, Bloody Mary's to enjoy, not the feeling of being rushed, simply an enjoyable experience. Absolutely worthy of another visit.
PS: Lunch and Dinner are as well good times to come here
