MET Back Bay
Food was very good. The skirt steak was a tuff cut but the fish and chips were very good. Service was accommodating but perhaps new to the job. Hostess was welcoming and seated us promptly. Lucky to sit outside because it was very noisy inside
The food here is really unique and great. It can be a bit heavy, and the staff wasn’t very nice, but always a great spot to eat
Nice place to take my daughter to lunch even if a little pricey....$64 for shared avocado toast, salad w grilled chicken added and salmon burger, no drinks or dessert. One of my favorite avocado toasts I've add with some burrata and the fluffiest grated parmesan and red chili flakes on top. Enjoyed the light filled dining room with big windows overlooking Newbury Street.
Good food, good service, table was ready when we arrived! Everyone had a good time!
Enjoyable business breakfast.
The food was cold and the glasses and plates dirty
Incredibly disappointed by the food, wait time, uninformed hostess, and terrible customer service from the manager. I have a severe nut allergy, and am aware that its difficult to eat certain places. So when I was planning on going to brunch, I called ahead of time BEFORE I made a reservation. I asked if there was any restrictions due to my allergy and even specifically gave the waitress an example as she seemed confused as to what I was asking("for example at some places I can't have anything fried or the bread has cross contamination,so there is minimal that I can have") she assured me that all the chefs take allergy training and I would be all set. If I was not able to eat most things on the menu I would have made a reservation at a different brunch spot. So we go, and first, our drinks take forever. Then I order and find out that I can not have any bread products or fried items due to cross contamination-literally exactly what I asked the hostess about. I ask to speak to a manager and Monica is brought over. She seems not concerned and just apologizes and avoids mentioning a way to make it right at all costs and is making excuses, at this point my friend steps in and requests that something is done, which has to go to the general manager. She comes back and says she will comp my "burger" ( a beef patty with a fried egg, bacon, and two slices of lettuce) not my drinks or anything else, and has no sense of them doing wrong or that maybe they will train their hostesses better in the future or anything. Then on top of it I get the food(after too much time has passed), burger cooked decent, but the bacon was trash, all fat, super chewy, and cooked terribly. Our meal(biscuits, 4 drinks, carbonara, comped beef patty) cost $85! Rip off, do not waste your time, they care more about keeping the reservation even when you’ll be forced to very minimal menu options when you specifically try to avoid this situation because it happens so often when you have an allergy!!!
Terrible experience. Menu was significantly different than advertised online. Food below average and we did not finish. Service was poor. For example, ordered a side item, server appeared not to understand, I found her and asked if she got the side-item order, she said yes, yet it never came. Took so long to receive the check that another employee, perhaps a manager, had to bring our check and take our credit-card payment. Highly overrated. Will not return
Ordered the Turkey burger and substituted the salad for fries. Burger was like eating cardboard, dry and hard. The salad was never delivered. Waitress disappeared so could not ask about the salad or anything else. Will never go again nor recommend the MET.
Overall, everyone enjoyed Father's Day dinner at MET Back Bay; however, we just can't get past the service issues. Typically, a few minutes after food is served, a server should return and ask how everything is which did not happen for the appetizer nor the entree course. While the food was absolutely yummy as always, serving spoons were not provided. We had to wait a very long time to flag our server - no one wants double dipping in the lobster cheddar dip or mussels. As always, we were happy we had leftovers; however, at home I was sad to find that the wasabi dip, tarter sauce and coleslaw were not included with my fish and chips - and there was quite a bit of each remaining.
We will be back in spite of the above - the food and ambiance are fantastic! :)
Our wait staff was great and the food was delicious. The hostess was not overly customer oriented.
We have had brunch here and loved it. Excellent food service. First time for dinner. Service was slow and inattentive food was extremely average to poor
We go to the Met fairly often and have always been pleased with the food and service. outdoor patio is very nice when the weather is good.
Sat outside. Weather was perfect. Food was excellent. Muscles were the best.
We dined in the Library area, which tends to be overflow, even though we had made a reservation. The food was good but the service was spotty. There were also a couple of VERY loud parties there, which made conversation hard. I was disappointed that they did not let Open Table know I was there and got a subsequent message that we were 'no shows'. I would not do that.
A bit over priced but par for the course for Newbury street. The outdoor dining was nice. Good sangria.
Reliably good menu. Food is fresh and well prepared. Standbys like the Cauliflower app and beet salad app are terrific. Our table of four shared two Green Guru salads and these two apps which was just right. Portions are generous on all plates. Service was slow. The two tiered seating system (one for outside and one for inside) is frustrating. Even though we arrived early for a 12:30 reservation we weren’t told this, waited for other members of our party and then were Re-routed to another host outside. Bottom line is that we lost out on an outside table on a beautiful day. Once inside it was freezing cold and the service was pleasant but slow and inattentive.
Lousy, poorly prepared and sloppily presented food.
Indifferent service. Could not be bothered to bring me a spoon to stir my coffee.
Playing light rap music during brunch.
A complete disaster on every level. Fire everyone and start all over.
Waitress was great on advice on the different meal choice.
The Bloody Mary bar at brunch is a must! Highly recommend splitting dishes because they are very large!
We were celebrating college graduation. Our server was knowledgeable and personable.
The ham and cheese board was delicious and large enough for all to share. Dinner portions are small for the $. I thought the sauce on the tuna steak was too heavy but enjoyed our visit.
Only place we could get last minute. Wish we didn’t . Just not good, was better 5 years ago now it’s just not good. Sorry
The MET is ALWAYS a favorite; I bring everyone who visits Boston to brunch for the delicious food and Bloody Mary’s. Only negative is how long you wait for the drink, often comes at the same time or after the meal; however, it’s ALWAYS worth the wait. 10/10 would recommend to anyone in or visiting Boston.
Outstanding service, great food, burgers are excellent for lunch and cooked perfect.
Mother’s Day brunch, food was great. The service was good had 2 servers working with us. Noice level was moderate based on a fair amount of kids there but tolerable. Overall good experience.
Our server most definitely forgot about us. It took 20 minutes to get a soda and our food came out way before our bar drinks. The manager stepped in to save our meal and apologized.
Food was delicious! Carolina was really nice and very attentive. Thank you for a lovely dining experience! We’ll be back!
We gave my 92 year old grandfather his birthday gift at brunch this day- a framed American flag and his fathers medals from World War I(which was a special gift as my grandfather served in WWII). The manager came over to our table, thanked my grandfather for his and my great grandfathers service to our country and discounted our bill for us as a thank you. It was incredible! Excellent food, and even better service and staff!
The wine glass was hot which was odd to me. I told the waitress n she said that's how they are.
The service was horrible. We had to ask 3 times for a glass of wine. The soup was cold and had to be sent back. The burgers were nothing special. I would recommend a pub instead.
Beautiful space, large inside and great outside eating on Newbury St. . Went for lunch after packing up my son's dorm room and enjoyed the atmosphere, comfort, food and service. I will definitely return on my trips to Boston. Pretty flawless place.
Good time and great food
Our favorite go to Boston restaurant. We love the upstairs dining ambiance. For lunch, I love the salads and salmon burger. For dinner, I love the chopped salad, The cauliflower small plate and rice bowls!
Waiter was fantastic! Great bloody Marys and great food.
I like to come to Met Back Bay for brunch when out of town friends visit. It has a nice selection and everywhere you sit is different. I’ve never sat in the same area of the restaurant and I enjoy the vibe. The Back Bay location is great to then get out and explore. I love the biscuits! It can get a bit loud and hard to hear people in your party, but that’s my only complaint.
Went for brunch with a friend. The Bloody Mary bar is super fun! The food was great but a little pricey. I would go back
The food was good just VERY overpriced.
Very good food and large portions
The lettuce wedge was amazing, the mussels delicious
Very poor presentation of my breakfast for a reportedly upscale Boston restaurant. My $14 pancakes arrived as if they were just slapped onto the plate with butter. That’s it! No garnish. Wish I had taken a photo. The pancakes were good. Mike’s dinner does a better job as does Metropolis for 30% less.
Service was just ok!
Not planning on returning as there are so many better choices in the neighborhood.
