MET Back Bay Ratings and Reviews
Receive and email to book brunch on MLK. Made a reservation and arrived at 11:30am. I decided to have the pancakes, red, white, and blue. Come to find out, the restaurant was out of blueberries. The a person in my party order the turkey club and to find out the turkey wasn't was still being roasted.
I was disappointed to find the MET was not prepared for the MLK brunch I was told in their email I needed to rush to make a reservation.
The make your own bloody mary bar brought us into the restaurant for brunch New Years Day 2018. While the cocktail and avocado toast did not disappoint, the service was extremely poor. Our server was inattentive and our food/drinks took way too long. Additionally, it was very crammed in the dining room upstairs- waiters and guests alike brushed the table every time they passed.
I have been previously to the bar downstairs which seems to operate better.
Overall I would recommend because of the quality food, but the restaurant in general does not live up to its hype.
Food was OK
Atmosphere very good
Service was very poor - when the food was served we had to sit and wait for the cutlery to be given to us for the main dish. During the meal - there was no waiter around to ask for a second glass of wine - by the time he was there we had finished the food.
Food was great and a fun atmosphere. The only thing is we waited for a server to get to us for awhile when we first were seated. They did accommodate us happily as we did add a person to the reservation. Food and drinks came fairly quickly after ordering. I think we also needed to find the server to get the final bill.
For the most part though - good food and lively atmosphere - great for a group.
Service was really slow.
We ordered a hot chocolate flight that didn’t come until the end of the meal and we had to remind the server that we ordered it.
One party got the wrong meal and had to wait for the correct meal while we all ate.
Another party was never served the side ordered and then was told they couldn’t make it.
Not a great experience but the hot chocolate flight was delicious.
We were in a hurry squeezed by traffic getting into Boston, and theatre ticket. We were graciously greeted and seated. The Library offered a n atmosphere that en courage conversation. We enquirer about quick entree options. We were quickly told of our best options and we both chose the Tu au poivre which quickly arrived and was delicious!
Bar service wS Quick and drinks arrived as requested and were very good. In short, while we arrived tense and a bit worried about timing. We had an excellent meal and got to the Huntington just in Time!
The food was top notch and portions are huge. Also, I was late for my dinner reservation and called ahead to tell them. They were very accommodating and said it wouldn't be a problem.
Open Table says there is valet parking. I drove up and didn't see a valet, so I left my car and went in to inquire. They said they don't have a valet. I ended up parking across the street at the parking lot, because I was already late and could not find on street parking. It cost me $42.00 for about two hours, which is outrageous. If I had known, I may have taken the train.
We were seated right away, which was nice. But it was SO dark at our table! I understand ambiance, but usually if it's that dark, there are candles and there weren't. No bread is given while we were waiting, but there were endless refills of water. We waited a rather long time for our meal and again a long time for dessert.
The food was amazing! We got the Chicken Parmesan, which had a really interesting presentation. We were told that it looks like a pizza, which it does, and that is serves 2-3 people. It probably serves more like 4, depending upon how much you eat. We had leftovers for both of us. It was delicious and the pasta that came with it had a nice kick to it in terms of spice.
The desserts were delicious and beautiful. My friend got the mocha milk and cookies. The milk had whipped cream on it and she loved it. There were 3 huge cookies. I had one and they tasted homemade. Delicious! We were given the dessert menus after asking for them. After much deliberation, I ordered apple pie, then was told they were out. Why wasn't I told that before I ordered? I ended up ordering the chocolate cake with ice cream. Again, huge and beautiful presentation. I ate the ice cream, which was surrounded by nuts and fudge sauce, so it was like a sundae. I was too full to eat the cake and brought it home. Have not eaten it yet, but I'm sure it will be divine.
We were there for an early dinner at 6.30pm and our waiter informed us that the restaurant was already out of the steaks, which really didn't leave us with much choice for main courses . How does a restaurant run out of meat so early on in the evening on a Saturday night?!
When it came time for dessert, he also informed us that the restaurant is out of Green Tea. 2 of my friends ordered ice cream for dessert, and the ice cream that arrived were crystallized and of poor quality.
The waiter did not seem to care all to much about our table. Seemed like he hated his job, which took away from our experience. The omelet was also pretty bland, could probably cook a better omelet myself, and the avocado toast had more of the other ingredients than actual avocado. The rest of the food was very good though and I would go again to try lunch or dinner.
Not the best experience... my medium rare steak tips were medium well, plate was looking as they forgot it somewhere... it was my son’s bday and his burger was also not the best we had and we go to MET a lot. Overall, we ate in 40min and gave up on dessert.
Location location location! Great atmosphere and outdoor dining option! We were lucky enough to get a table in the front bay window overlooking iconic Newbury Street! Decor is beautiful and great ambiance! Food was good but could have been better! Biscuits were doughy. French onion soup was good but not enough bread and gruyere cheese on top. Artichoke was delicious but difficult to eat the way it is served. Mac and cheese was great according to my daughter. Husband sirloin tips were a bit dry. Service was great! Will definitely recommend and return next time we are in Boston!
