We were there for an early dinner at 6.30pm and our waiter informed us that the restaurant was already out of the steaks, which really didn't leave us with much choice for main courses . How does a restaurant run out of meat so early on in the evening on a Saturday night?!
When it came time for dessert, he also informed us that the restaurant is out of Green Tea. 2 of my friends ordered ice cream for dessert, and the ice cream that arrived were crystallized and of poor quality.
The waiter did not seem to care all to much about our table. Seemed like he hated his job, which took away from our experience. The omelet was also pretty bland, could probably cook a better omelet myself, and the avocado toast had more of the other ingredients than actual avocado. The rest of the food was very good though and I would go again to try lunch or dinner.
Not the best experience... my medium rare steak tips were medium well, plate was looking as they forgot it somewhere... it was my son’s bday and his burger was also not the best we had and we go to MET a lot. Overall, we ate in 40min and gave up on dessert.
Location location location! Great atmosphere and outdoor dining option! We were lucky enough to get a table in the front bay window overlooking iconic Newbury Street! Decor is beautiful and great ambiance! Food was good but could have been better! Biscuits were doughy. French onion soup was good but not enough bread and gruyere cheese on top. Artichoke was delicious but difficult to eat the way it is served. Mac and cheese was great according to my daughter. Husband sirloin tips were a bit dry. Service was great! Will definitely recommend and return next time we are in Boston!
This spot was amazing and almost perfect for our 50th birthday party. There was some food not delivered in a timely fashion and the waiter forgot about us for a bit but I just have to say we forgive them and we were relaxed. Not a big deal but... it could have been.
Sat in a good section except the bar tender was the waitress and barely took care of us. Had to get up and ask for things at the bar since the waitress wouldn't even notice us calling her over like she said to do. Also request a dessert to be brought out for a birthday but they obviously forgot since they brought the check over even before asking if we even wanted dessert or another drink. Very disappointing service because we usually love this place. If that had been my first time there I wouldn't go back. It was just poor service and unfortunate they ruined a surprise dessert at the end after I even talked to the hostess about it and made a request on open table for it to happen.
Enjoyed our meal and great service. Our reservation notes did mention that we would like a space for our stroller, but we were told when we arrived that we could not bring this upstairs. It wasn't a huge problem, but would have been nice to have been addressed when the reservation was confirmed. Might not rate as "kid friendly" if a stroller is a problem. Will be back regardless, but this is a small thing that seemed worth mentioning.
Coffee machine was not working and they recommend 20% as a basic tip and 25% as a good tip which is obnoxious. I suggest the staff be paid better if you're suggesting such a high tip . Plus I'd booked a table and was a 5 minutes early waiting for my son to arrive and even though tables were available they wouldn't let me sit down and order a drink or any food at our table.

Not sure what has happened at this restaurant. Went on a Sunday night during regular dinner hours and there was practically no waitstaff. Burgers came out well done when we asked for medium. Their usual Paris burger did not have a delicious oozy egg on top but rather a fully cooked egg adding to a more disappointing experience.
Love this spot, have been quite a few times for brunch, lunch and drinks. Figured it would be a great place to bring my family when visiting for brunch.
Open table allowed me to make a reservation at 8:45 am, I also received a call to confirm my reservation. However when we arrived at 8:45AM we were told they were not open until 9 and we would need to wait. Which is fine, we went outside to wait until then. Two of the people in our group went inside to use the bathroom a couple minutes before 9 and over heard two employees talking about our party. Very rudely talking about each other about how annoying it was that people were here before they were open and it's closed don't come until we're open..
The hostess came outside to get up because our table was ready and sat us outside at a great location. I mentioned to her that I made this reservation online on open table. She made it seem like they were well aware of the issue (clearly have not done anything about it) so I told her to please not have her employees speak about your guests in the bathroom.
Besides this the food is always great here and the server we had was pretty good. One thing I would note is NEVER ever take food off of a table that you already placed &I then bring it to the correct table. Big NO, very unsanitary. Either leave the food or throw it away.
Bottom line, great food (always is) but the front of house staff needs some serious training and hospitality. Kitchen deserves an A+ as it's the only reason I would give the Met Back Bay anther chance.
The food was delicious, we were there for brunch and we all left overly full and happy. Our only complaint is that service was super slow. The restaurant was not very busy and we still had to flag down our waiter several times and it took 20 minutes to get our drinks.
MET Back Bay offers straight-forward, tasty food. Their burgers are very good -- with truffle fries -- as are salads and steaks. Mac & cheese and short-rib nachos looked great but I didn't get a chance to taste. The service can be slow, and when busy the waitstaff can appear overwhelmed, so I'd recommend eating in the bar downstairs if you want to get in & out quickly. Some might find it too pricey when compared with chain restaurants in the area, but the food is cut above so you'll pay more. Overall, a good, dependable choice when on Newbury Street.
Met bar runs brunch from 10am to 3pm. We ate at around 1:30pm. We ordered coffee with cream and they were "out of cream." I tried to order the salmon flat bread and they had "run out of salmon." A seafood restaurant had run out of salmon. We spoke to the manager who, instead of reasoning through a solution or passing feedback on to his superiors with regards to ordering strategy, said "it was busy. We ran out." Poor customer service. And the food wasn't great. We will not return for brunch anytime soon.
This was perhaps the worst dining experience I've had in years. Tacky blinking lights in the window that made eating uncomfortable. The waitress said the lights could not be turned off. Waitress had a bad attitude. Food was greasy and lukewarm. AC was blasting, so it was uncomfortably cold. Disgusting and messy bathroom. Overall, a horrible experience. The next day, I had an upset stomach. No surprise.
I was expecting better service then what we received. The food options were great and so was the food we ordered. The waiter was either too busy with his station, but not very attentive to our table. We waited for a long time to be greeted. I had to ask for my water to be refilled and no follow up after our meal was delivered. We were forced to have to ask for additional salad dressing, etc. . . would not recommed this location based on this.
