MET Back Bay
The waitress brought the check without asking for coffee or dessert. Although we wanted both, our appetite was promptly lost.
Wonderful service, very patient and quick about my friend’s numerous allergies, delicious food and my favorite avocado toast in town!
Honestly, the food was the only redeeming thing for this visit. We were seated in “the library” near the bar and the service was terrible. Our waiter was also the bar tender, and while the bar was not busy, he paid no attention to us. When we did get his attention, he didn’t bother to write anything down and had to keep coming back for us to confirm (how we wanted our steak cooked, what kind of pizza, drink orders). When it came time for the check, we asked him for it (after being there 2 hours) and then waited 30 minutes. He was busy cleaning the bar and we tried to motion to him multiple times but he did not pay attention. We finally walked up to the bar to ask him. We originally asked for separate checks and he said okay, however he didn’t remember who got what so we ourselves had to split the checks. He also didn’t bring them back to the table for the rest of us to sign, the person helping him at the bar had to do it for him. I’ve been to Met multiple times, but am not sure I would go back after this poor experience.
Very disappointing. Been here a few times but won't be back. Mixed drinks barely had any alcohol and when the bill came I was surprised how expensive they were. Oysters were six for $18, which is typical of other restaurants. However, the oysters were the small variety that one would normally get at other restaurants for a dollar each. Only positive was the server was very attentive.

Perhaps it was an off night, but the service was incredibly lacking for a restaurant of this type. We stood for several minutes at the front door before being greeted, then left to stand there even longer while the hostess checked on our table. That was surprising, as there were only two tables in the entire dinning room LOL
The jumbo shrimp were fantastic, the cheese selections delicious and the fillet was cooked perfectly. As good as the food was, the service was opposite. Our server was seemingly unable to refill drinks & was testy when asked 3 times for the same forgotten side item.
Terrible attention to service, but delicious food. Would definitely give it a second chance, in hopes that the service was a fluke.
10-14 dollar draft beers seem crazy! Food is great and bartender very friendly.
Went for lunch with some coworkers. They were very quick and efficient. Food was decent, but nothing overwhelming special.
The food was bad, the service was very slow. We were very disappointed.
Service was slow and inattentive in a nearly empty room, but otherwise the experience was quite acceptable.
I could not have been more disappointed with our experience at this restaurant.
We sat down for lunch for a party of 4 outside on the patio. After waiting 10 minutes our server finally came to our table. Except, instead of greet us, he put down the tray he was holding down on our table. The tray four water glasses and an espresso. Without saying a word to us, he picked up the espresso and dropped it on the the table behind us. He then picked up two water glasses and put them on the table next to us, which had just been sat 45 second before. Again, we waited 10 minutes for him to even show up, and he still hasn’t said anything to us. He then placed the remaining two water glasses on our table and said “I’ll be back to take your drink order”. When he finally returned another 5 minutes later, he took the food order of the table next to us (that sat down after us), put their order into the computer. He then returned with the two glasses of water that he didn’t bring when he greeted us. As he reached over the table to put the glass down, he burped loudly and blew it out into my friends face. Now, I don’t think the blowing out was intentional, more absent minded, but completely rude and disgusting and he didn’t apologize or excuse himself. It was if he didn’t even know what he did. This is when we noticed that he REAKED of body odor. This was like 2- days of no shower or deodorant odor. He finally took our food order.
The menu was strange, no burger at 2:00 p.m., except for either a breakfast burger served on an english muffin or a 1-lb. burger. That’s right a 1-POUND burger! Do I even need to explain how absurd that it? After being denied a regular sized burger, we got our food, it was fine, no major complaints, but certainly nothing that we loved. Our server did return several times to ask us how the food was, but at an annoying rate, probably every 5-10 minutes of our meal.
Between the poor service, body odor, burps and subpar food, we will not be returning.
Jaynonymous, This is clearly not the service standard that we strive for. We addressed the particular server that tended to your table that day, and who was apparently the root of all of your dissatisfaction. We have used this as a training moment with the remainder of our team, and are confident there will be no similar issue in the future. Food quality and taste were really underwhelming for a pricey restaurant in back bay. Would not recommend it.
AMAZING. The garlicky breadcrumb Mac and cheese was to die for.
Amazing food and amazing wine. However, the server was pretty inexperienced. Not only my table but several other tables really wanted to pay so we tried to get the server’s attention but maybe he didn’t want to get paid. It took us forever to get his attention. Nice young man but inexperienced. Perhaps should be trained more.
Also would not recommend for birthdays, they just give you three scoops of vanilla ice cream with one candle and that’s all.
Had a great time at Met as always. The food was delicious. It a fun scene here and we enjoy going.
Bad lighting, mediocre food and generally disappointing. Not what it used to be.
Sit outside on the patio
3 out of 4 of us ordered steak tips for dinner. For all three of us, the mashed potato for our steak tips was almost cold when we got it, and it didn’t come with any spinach as the menu described. When we asked about it, we were then told that they ran out of spinach. Running out of spinach is fine, but shouldn’t the server at least inform us and provide alternative options before serving us three half empty plates? Eventually we were provided kale or salad as an alternative, and we asked the server to heat up the dish. When we got the plates back again, we were SHOOK the mashed potato was STILL almost cold even though we asked to heat it up. The kale and steak tips taste ok though. Overall it was a very disappointing dining experience for all of us, and the food and service was definitely not worth the value.

We booked for 830 on a Sunday night - unfortunately upon arrival we were seated upstairs by the front of house - only to be ushered downstairs by one of the servers who advised that the upstairs was shutting shortly. When we walked in downstairs and the servers there saw we were trying to be seated - the look of horror that we wanted a meal was incredibly unpleasant. After such a horrible welcome we decided the rest of the experience would be very frosty so we said we would find another restaurant that may want our business. The only positive was that the manager did try to convince us to return via phone a few minutes later - but all too awkward for a family who travelled from Delaware that day with young children
We chose this establishment based on the menu we viewed online. When we arrived, the hostess felt the need to educate us on the brunch patio seating availability and how it isn’t guaranteed, which was a bit patronizing and annoying. “THE MORE YOU KNOW!”, she exclaimed. We were less than pleased to find that the menu was completely different from what we viewed online. What a let down! Maybe if the hostess spent more time advising customers that the menu is different from what is viewed online versus currently being offered at the restaurant instead of being an arrogant child who belittles others, we wouldn’t have such a bad taste in our mouths. Way to fall short, MET Back Bay...THE MORE YOU KNOW.
Great food and fantastic options for vegetarians too. Definitely enjoy the location and options. Would come again.
The inside restaurant had weirdly sized tables and it was incredibly loud; so loud that our server (who was far from us because of the weird table) couldn’t hear - and wrongly placed- our order. We asked to be moved outside so we could hear one another, which the hostess gladly accommodated. The experience got better, but the food was nothing special overall.
Just OK - I thought very overpriced for a slice of salmon with 4 cucumbers on the side. My friends meals were far larger for the price. Service outside was slow.

Really amazing service and great food. My favorite is the cauliflower two ways - It is a must try!
Good food, variety of options, great patio for a sunny day. Make a reservation because it gets busy, patio is first come first serve.
Entrees came before we finished appetizers and not at the same time. Nash potatoes were salty. Waiters were pleasant and friendly

The Met was definitely the worst meal we had in Boston. The service was awful, the restaurant was extremely hot, the sandwiches we ok, we definitely would not return or recommend.

Over all I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Boston. If it’s a hot day request to sit downstairs as it is very hot upstairs. Would recommend the lobster roll
Mark was a great server! Burger was so tasty and the size of my head. Well worth it.

While we have had good meals at The Met, however, we were underwhelmed with our experience on this occasion. The hostess was very olive and accommodating but the service was slow and the waitress was inattentive. We ordered truffle fries which were stuck together in one large clump in the wire basket. The truffle mayo which came on the side had a hazy skin to it. While the filet was wonderful, the scallops with greens and creamed corn left something to be desired. The were few corn kernels on the plate and the dandelion greens were extremely bitter and almost inedible. The scallops were cooked perfectly but very salty. Very disappointing.
Food didn't meet our expectations. We asked for one salad and it comes just as raw ingredients being put together. Service was slow, I was waiting for more than 20 minutes just to get the check.
Met always delivers on food. Love the seasonally changing toasts and wonderful Nicoise Salad. Great wine selection and impeccable service.

No AC or even air flow in the upper bar area so I highly suggest not sitting up there. Food was not impressive or worth the money. Server was excellent.
Bartender was ever so dedicated to making my drink as requested. I loved the peaceful ambiance and chill but warm vibe, if you know what I mean. My only issue was the garnish on the salmon. They need to chop those chives.
Very good menu items and I was especially pleased with the chicken under a brick.
Waiter was not the best in terms of friendliness or attentiveness. Food was solid.
Hi, My apologies that you did not feel attended to on your last visit - of course there's no good reason any guest should feel an unfriendly vibe in our restaurant.
