I have been to the restaurant several times. It is really a nice quaint downtown spot. They do need to work on cleaning their floors. They seem to be out of a lot of food items, especially the pork chops the last few times. The burgers are great. The staff is really friendly, but they are short staffed often. Overall a good experience.
Didn’t have any steak besides one cut. How are you a chop house and have no steaks? Haha. Not able to sub sides. Very difficult menu/availability of items to deal with
Anniversary- There was no a/c in the establishment. We received our food the steaks were full of Gristle and Fat. The garlic potatoes had no garlic and were floating in grease as were the steaks.
The famous lobster Mac and cheese was velveta with some lobster stirred in.
Needless to say was very disappointed at the overall quality of the food and state of the restaurant considering it had a 5star rating.
The gentleman there did adjust our bill which was admirable but I would never go back there again .
First of all THERE WAS NO AIR CONDITIONING! We were hot, miserable, and sweaty our entire dinner. The service was HORRIBLE. The waiter was unkempt, had a bad attitude like we were unconvincing him, we couldn’t understand half of what he said, AND he got our order wrong. We order the shrimp appetizer and it was dried out, our salads were wrong, and the steaks were mediocre. This was a business dinner and I was so embarrassed as I was the one who picked this restaurant. For 3 people the tab was 260$-with no alcoholic drinks. I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN!
Worst experience we’ve ever experienced. Walked in and waited 10 minutes to be seated. We had a reservation, the bartender/manager walked to us to ask if we had one. He never checked and he just pointed at a booth with a hole in it. Once seated, we noticed their menu was depleted and they were out of numerous items. If you didn’t order a steak, you were ordering pasta made from a box. A bird was flying around inside, manager was turning people away an hour before they closed, reservation or not. Food was overpriced, waitress had no idea what she was doing and the manager criticized every drink order. It was like pulling teeth. I do not recommend going to this place at all
Food was good need to cutback on the salt.
Not enough servers. Was 10 minutes before anyone gave us water. Sautéed green beans were ice cold in the center as were the mashed potatoes that were more garlic than anything.
Reserved table on time to get in. Service was very polite and respectful food was what was expecting from the web site. Interior was great to look at and clean. Would recommend and go back again
I arrived at 8:41, 4 minutes before my reservation, and they would not honor my reservation, saying they wanted to close early.
Had reservation and got there a a few minutes early. Upon entering I noticed there was no one there to greet us and the tables in the front (3of them) were not clean. We were told that someone was cleaning our table, but with the other tables not being cleaned sanitized it didn’t look as if they were in a hurry. After waiting 15 minutes for someone to bust and clean the table, we were later told that the restaurant only had 1 server on staff for the entire establishment. Are you kidding me? On top of that there was a party goin on and I noticed those that were seated were yet to be waited on. So after 20 minutes my family and I decided to leave and dine elsewhere. Thanks but no thanks.
We reserved a birthday celebration for my sister great atmosphere and excellent customer service great tasting food too
Not what it used to be. Went for anniversary dinner. Ordered 6 oz. filet "medium" as described on the menu, it was overcooked. Wife's was too. The wine list and the desserts offered isn't as good anymore. I supposed I should be happy that the restaurant survived COVID, but it is not the same experience as before. I think the mask ruin it for everyone.
The employees seemed over worked and stressed. I was just disappointed to pay that much for a dinner and not get perfection. Just my thoughts.
Was a great first time in-person dining experience since covid began. Was safe fun and a great time.
Fabulous food with great waiter
Food was great quality. Staff was good but not great. Only downside, we were the only table and they messed up the cook on my steak. Pretty hard to mess up a med/rare steak when you have only 2 steaks to cook. Recited and it was done right, but with one table that’s kind of unacceptable. The added fee for using your credit card is ridiculous in today’s day and age. And not being told about it and relying on the customer to read the bill in its entirety to reveal that aspect is plain lazy on the waitstaff. On top of the fact that your paying exorbitant prices for the meal, it’s something that should be absorbed by the establishment.
It was a good meal, but not great. I expected big city, chef quality meals. It was on par with steak chains.
Anniversary dinner! The Carmel apple pork chops were amazing!
I believe they were understaff but great food! Best Mashed potatoes!
I have to start off by saying Our server was good . I ordered a filet mignon center cut medium well, the steak came out bleeding all over the plate , I cut into it an it looked like it never even touched the grill it was completely rare. The server apologized and said he talked to the manager and he was taking it off the bill , and asked did I want something else, I must have had a misunderstanding because I said no meaning I wanted the same thing just cooked correctly but no food ever came back out. We were from out of town celebrating my husband birthday wasn’t what we were expecting but glad to see they are still open and doing well during the pandemic wish them the best.
I wanted to celebrate a special occasion with my husband, but this experience was far from celebratory. The restaurant was loud and cold. We asked to be moved from our table to the bar to talk to each other. The food was awful. You can get a much better quality steak at a chain steak place. We will not be back.
My husband and I are arrived fir our schedule reservations at 7:45 pm on 3/13. The tall guy with a beard, waved his hands and said, “ The place was closed and not serving anyone else”. My husband and I left in frustration and went to another restaurant.
Worse steak that I every had , way over priced. Ordered a coke and it came from a flat 2 liter, they told that they would across the street and would buy us a can coke. Ordered steal minimum rare and got well done and they would not give me a new steak. sides where cold. on the receipt it said cash is one price and card was a 4% sur -charge. for a $150.00 meal it was a waste, when we left we went and got a better meal because that meal was terrible. Save your money and do not go this restaurant.
Went on Valentine's Day. Apparently the heat was out, was really cold and they had a space heater by at least one table. We got lucky and were able to move to a table by a fireplace. Nothing was ever mentioned about it to us, which is especially weird because they called to confirm our reservation about 2hrs before. Seems like they could have given us a heads up, or at least acknowledged how cold it was inside the restaurant? The Chef's Selection of Sausage and Cheese was what appeared to be a couple of cheddar cheese beef hot dogs cut at diagonals, pita bread with honey mustard.....bright spot was cheese's were good! The NY Strip was good, the bacon wrapped filet was poor quality and taste.
Overall, poor experience. Will not be going back. Was very disappointing.
Went to this restaurant with my wife and friends and we had a 5pm reservations and got there @ 4:45pm and not open and look as though they was closed. Finally the hostess showed up and let us in around 5:15pm or so. Got in table we were seated at table cloth dirty and when we order went back to the restroom and notice the pre 4 guys at back table sleeping and one was snoring so loud it was ridiculous. Have gone to the location on get well but this downtown location was what I expected from the Mesquite Chop House Restaurant.
I was not impressed with Mesquite Chop house. The food was ok. My medium well steak was cooked correctly but it was not hot it was barely warm. The garlic mash potatoes were over powering and very sticky. Upon receiving our check there was a 4% surcharge for all debit/card users. We were not informed of this when making the reservation on OpenTable. The service was ok, our waiters were not rude but less than enthusiastic, maybe it pandemic fatigue so I will give them that. The food needs to most definitely improve.
Great food. Ribeye with crab meat was awesome.
Not sure if it is due to Covid, but the food was horrible. The inside of the crab cake was cold, I chewed a piece of crab and had to put it back on the plate. The mashed potatoes were lumpy, cold, and flavorless. The martini had to be remade, and the steak was not cooked to the appropriate temp. I was sorely disappointed with the experience overall.
The entire experience was awful. The server was nice, it was cold in the restaurant, the menu was so condensed from the pre Covid menu, the lemon drop martini was good, the Old Fashioned was just okay, the fries were generic, the ribeye had too much fat on it, the mash potatoes tasted like water. I could go on, but I won’t.
Booth where they sat us was ripped, couldn’t or wouldn’t make 3 different types of drinks we tried to order. Steak was raw then recooked original steak rest of the food was cold and the cheese cake for dessert was frozen in the middle. We drove an hour for that. Could have gotten the same at Texas Roadhouse for half the money very disappointed
It was very cold in the restaurant, I had to keep my jacket on to eat dinner.
Hair was found in my food . During this time of what goin on nation wide you need to extra careful when preparing food if you’re going to operate during pandemic
The staff was great. Filets were tough. For a steak place, the best meal on the table was the chicken pasta we ordered for the toddler. Ambience was great. Thought it was odd they charged a 3.9% fee to process payment via credit card.
Daughter loved her steak. Husband thought steak had way to much garlic... overpowered taste.
Mashed Potatoes were delicious but the more you ate the garlic was also overpowering in those. I only had sides.
Funny thing though ... there was a person in back booth that was sleeping and snoring so LOUD you could hear him everywhere. No one said anything... I assume they thought we did not hear him... it was comical.
Food is always terrible. I’ve given them 5 chances only because the drinks and service is great. Food sucks!!
My husband and I took my Boss to dinner. Gerard was great! The staff is always friendly and the food amazing!
Pretty good food. A little pricey for being pretty casual. The wine selection was very small but served our purposes. We had a filet and Chicken Alfredo. The steak wes very good.
This was the first time at the Chop House. It is definitely a hidden gem in the Downtown area. Excellent service and the ambiance and food was also excellent. Highly recommended.
The service was excellent. My bacon wrapped filet was cooked temp wise but the bacon was soggy on the outside and my mashed potatoes were lukewarm. I would try it again. It might have been an off day.
Food okay not very well seasoned. Price high for ambiance
Everything was perfect. This was my first time visiting the restaurant.
