Meso Maya - Ft. Worth
Chef Nico’s love for the culinary arts started at age nine, when he worked for a bakery, making deliveries and assisting in the kitchen in Mexico. Nico honed his skills at several restaurants throughout the country, in states such as Vera Cruz, where he learned about seafood, dried chilies, and making sauces from scratch, and Oaxaca, where he perfected tamale-making techniques. In 1996 he left Mexico for DFW so he could pursue his goal of becoming a renowned chef. By traveling from state to state throughout Mexico, Chef Nico learned many of the culinary skills that patrons in the area enjoy every day. Chef Nico earned his reputation within the Dallas restaurant scene by working at Cuba Libre, The Porch, Hibiscus, and Meso Maya. His food is celebrated for its complexity, unique presentation, and fresh flavors (thanks, in part, to his love of gardening—he grows peppers, tomatoes, squash, and onions).
wood-fired marinated steak, homemade sweet corn tamal, crema mexicana, charred salsa, queso fresco, black beans
slowly cooked brisket with caramelized onions, cilantro, roasted poblanos, queso fresco, blue corn tortillas, tomatillo guajillo sauce
isla cortes white shrimp, striped bass, fresh lime juice, diced jicama, tomatoes, cilantro, fresh avocado
The food is pre-made so you can’t make any changes to it whatsoever. I wanted extra cheese in the chile relleno, couldn’t do it. Just the fish in the ceviche and no shrimp since I’m allergic, couldn’t do it. Everything is already made and they just heat it up. Ridiculous if you ask me. Do not say you’re authentic when all your food is not made to order but made days before. Embarrassing date experience
Food was great. Drinks not too bad. Server Vanessa was exceptional
Food, margaritas, and service was excellent! We had the beef arrachera, elotes, Brussels sprouts, queso, and the house margaritas. I appreciate that they do happy hour on fridays until 7! $5 margaritas!
Our server, Vanessa, was fantastic - she was friendly, helpful with menu suggestions, and quick. Will definitely return because of the great service! Thank you Vanessa!
Great food and service.
Friends in from out of town!
I feel like we are eating at a contemporary Mexican restaurant in downtown Mexico City …. It’s that authentic.
Sunday great drink special. Good good. VERY nice staff
Service was slow, even at 830pm, but the food was delicious.
It was fabulous never a dull moment staff is outstanding
Excelente servicio y la comida deliciosaaa lo recomiendo al 100 %
Great Mother’s Day celebration
Our food was delicious as usual, however, after waiting almost 40 minutes for our food, the waitress advised us that someone had taken one of our meals and served it to another table. They were cooking it again ASAP. :( - we had to ask for drink refills, water and soda.
Great experience! Loved Meso Maya!!
A gem for true Mexican cuisine with a great tex mex spin. The staff and our waiter were outstanding explaining the type of cuisine and differences in how dishes are cooked. Everything is cooked to order with outstanding flavor profiles. We enjoyed the avocado margarita - exceptional. We will be back, one of the best meals we have had in the Fort Worth area.
If I could give more stars I would! Best service I’ve ever had and the food was great!
Great food and excellent service!
It was great!
The service was slow. The food was slightly cold and one dish lacked flavor. For the price, it wasn’t worth it.
Excellent food and service. All the food is fresh. Salsa is one of our favorites.
Drinks weren’t as delicious as the menu made them sound but the food made up for it.
Truly a great spot for a business lunch.
Ryan was an awesome server! Food was great, outdoor patio was so cute, drinks were phenomenal— will definitely be back.
Delicious food as always. Our service was a little spotty but everything is still in a state of Covid flux. It was a divine evening to sit on the patio. Looking forward to our next visit.
I met friends for lunch and ordered a meal to go for my husband. It was disappointing to have to ask for a bag of chips and salsa to go with my meal. They were provided when I asked for them but I shouldn’t have had to ask. Chips and salsa are figured into the cost of all entrees at a Mexican/southwestern restaurant and should have been I closed in the take out meal.
Excellent food! Everything was so flavorful. Chips and salsa were great. Highly recommend. Will be back soooon!!
First time there with 6 of us for Easter Brunch. Food was great but kind of disappointed that the actual brunch menu only consisted of half of what was on the downloadable/QR code menu. Still very tasty and great service.
My husband and I absolutely love this restaurant! I tried the new mango strawberry margarita and it was great! We love everything about the food here, especially the chips and salsa.
We chose Meso Maya for a birthday celebration and experience something different having never been there.
Cocktails were ok and food was average. Ambiance and rest of the experience was fair at best. Our server, however was very knowledgeable, took the time to explain authentic Mexican food, how Mole sauce is made and very friendly. She was the best part of our evening.
Two out of 8 people in our group got very sick the day after the dinner. It appears both ordered the same meal.
Keeping aside the folks getting sick, Meso Maya was disappointing overall. There is a lot to choose in the metroplex in this food category and Meso Maya doesn’t stack up well.
Love this place. Great food. We just stopped by for lunch on a Saturday at 12:15. Restraunt appeared to be at 30% capacity. We asked to sit in the bar. Response is the bar is closed today. We left and went to Mesero in Clearfork.
This is common for Mesomaya. We would like to sit outside. “Oh that is closed today”. Each time we leave. Don’t understand why they are so hung up on where people sit particularly when the place is nearly empty.
Great food but there are many other great places right next door. And they let us sit anywhere in the restaurant. :))
Great service, great food, great atmosphere. Love this place and try to go as often as possible.
Arrived about 15 minutes early. We were seated quickly. Waited about 15 minutes for drinks and chips, waitress kept apologizing saying how busy they were. Ordered food waitress came by 4 times and twice told us the food was on the way. We saw several tables order, served, and departed and still no food. 1 1/2 hrs later we told waitress we had to leave she said they were plating our food. We asked for it to go, got home meat was almost raw. We had to cook it to eat it, also missing sides. The manager never came by and spoke to us, asked how we were doing, apologized nothing.
We’ve eaten here plenty of times before, very disappointed.
I completely understand about being under-staffed in this Covid era of life. However, the fact that the manager never came around to tables to apologize is not acceptable. The poor server was left to apologize at least 3 times. The manager needs a bit of refresher training. Very disappointed.
I liked the restaurant and it had great food. The salsa was very unique.
Wonderful food and very knowledgeable servers. Fresh, interesting and a beautiful chef's touch. Ambience was peaceful and restorative-felt safely distanced and very careful staff. We will be back for sure.
The cast iron blueberry desert. Go there for this dish!
The ideal dinner experience. Service was excellent. Our server gave great recommendations for drinks, appetizers, entrees and even dessert. High quality food brought out at the correct temperature and time. Highly recommend for a fun and enjoyable meal!
The service was great from the moment we entered the restaurant. Food choices were ample and the food was fresh and flavorful. Especially the guacamole! The best I’ve ever had! So creamy!
Wonderful! Service was amazing and food was delicious! We will be back.
Eh. Sadly, that location is just not the best and not fair to the restaurant as a whole to judge. Meso Maya has great food and drinks but that location just lacks every time I go.
