Meso Maya - Ft. Worth
Chef Nico’s love for the culinary arts started at age nine, when he worked for a bakery, making deliveries and assisting in the kitchen in Mexico. Nico honed his skills at several restaurants throughout the country, in states such as Vera Cruz, where he learned about seafood, dried chilies, and making sauces from scratch, and Oaxaca, where he perfected tamale-making techniques. In 1996 he left Mexico for DFW so he could pursue his goal of becoming a renowned chef. By traveling from state to state throughout Mexico, Chef Nico learned many of the culinary skills that patrons in the area enjoy every day. Chef Nico earned his reputation within the Dallas restaurant scene by working at Cuba Libre, The Porch, Hibiscus, and Meso Maya. His food is celebrated for its complexity, unique presentation, and fresh flavors (thanks, in part, to his love of gardening—he grows peppers, tomatoes, squash, and onions).
Exceptional as always. Matthew was our waiter and was very attentive. He took great care of us!
Everything was fantastic. Our waitress, the staff was friendly, everything was wonderful.
Excellent service. I found some of the sauces too spiced, but am super sensitive. All meals, guacamole, drinks, and desserts were great!
Poor wait staff took 15 minutes just to get a waiter and another 10 to even get waters. Food was very poor and average not many people there eating and the reasons speak for themselves will not go again. Hate to rate it like this but not a good experience at all.
When filling out my reservation, I was asked if I'd like standard seating or outdoor seating. Since it was going to be chilly out and a chance of rain, I opted for standard seating. One would assume this means being seated indoors. When we showed up, the hostess seated us in a tent-covered area (not in the building) that was quite chilly. When I voiced that I had selected standard indoor seating on my reservation, she said she would "figure out how long the wait was" and get back to us. She never got back to us...
That being said, the food was fine and our server was on point. No complaints there, I actually really like Meso Maya and would recommend it.
However, if my experience is any indication to how the Opentable reservation system works with Meso Maya, they might not pay attention to your request to be seated inside or outside if it's busy enough. Be warned.
The atmosphere was wonderful, I love the patio setting and it was a perfect weather day. The service from our server, LT, was spectacular, and the food and drinks are always good. I was little disappointed, however, to find that you have happy hour from 4-7 but the only items offered is a house margarita and a small cup of queso... big deal.
Love this place! Highly recommend
The food was delish along with the drink I ordered which was a Frozen Mango Margarita with Tajin. I ordered tacos, one was shrimp which was good and the other Pastor which I did NOT know had a kick to them. They were Spicy and only finished it with the help of my mango margarita and the pieces of mango my shrimp taco had.
For the price I was expecting 3 Tacos instead of 2 and even adding a side of pico de gayo or some guacamole would've helped.Chips were delish along with the salsa. Just when I asked for a to go box, he brought me a bag to put the chips I already had on the table and a cup to pour what was left of my salsa. Other places bring you a bag and a bag of chips along with salsa. The waiter was great and polite and checked on us several times. Overall I would go again but not as much as I would like because of the portion and price don't really match. It's a once every few months kind of thing. It was date night for me and the hubby which we don't get to do much because of our 3 kiddos.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The service is usually on point and the food is amazing. My favorite is the budin azteca pollo. I use the leftover green sauce with chips because I don’t want to waste any. Hubby likes the brisket enchiladas. They have a nice smoky flavor. Also the mango tea is so good.
Very nice restaurant... food and drinks are very good
The guacamole was great! The regular maragaritas are good.
The food was extremely bland!! Great cocktails and service by our waitress. We did let her know the food was not good and she just gave a sigh of empathy and didn’t do anything. We ate a few bites and left it behind.
Nice bar, nice ambiance and great service. Food very good.
wonderful brunch spot! $3 mimosas (and the servers kept them full!), not a huge brunch selection, but each plate sounded so different and delicious. Want to go back and try them all!
Matthew Miranda was the best server we’ve had. He engaged with our son and knew all about the menu and checked in on us several times.
We were celebrating my husband's birthday, and had a wonderful meal. Our server was Julian, and he was very attentive. It was a great dining experience.
This was our 3rd time here. The service is always good, but this time it was out of this world. Ambiance was great for a small family get together. The server was very knowledgeable about all things related to the dishes we asked about and was very passionate about food. We couldn't have asked for more.
return visit. great food and drinks. was really loud tonite. couple of big groups which is always a pain for the others. enjoy this place as the food is always really good and different
Our evening at Meso Maya was excellent. The waitress offered my friend samples of 2 soups when she couldn't decide. And her recommendation of the Sopa Lima was right on. The ceviche was fresh as always. The Salmon de Coco was perfectly cooked.
We loved the food and the margaritas. The service was great, efficient and helpful. Our server offered one of my guests samples to help him make a sauce decision. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, and the noise level was low. Parking was easy. Highly recommend.
We had a round table that comfortably sat six. The chips and salsa were both good. The salsa was a deep green color, very tasty with moderate heat.
I had Serrano enchiladas. Chicken enchiladas with a Serrano sauce. Moderate warmth. Very good. My wife had brisket tacos. She said they were good but not as good as the bite of enchiladas I gave her. I did notice she didn’t offer to share.
The service was terrific. The price was reasonable. The mango tea was really good.
Staff was friendly and service and food was amazing. The avocado margarita is a must try!
First time but definitely not the last time!
Always great great food and excellent service at Meso Mayo off Hulen. Our waiter was outstanding - always checking with us to make sure if we needed anything and quick delivery of our order. Great upscale casual dining.
My 3rd visit and the food is never hot enough
Our first visit in to Meso Maya. It was amazing. The food was delicious. The chips and salsa! OMG! Loved everything we ordered and we were a party of 7.
Husband’s food was cold and too vinegary. Mine was warm, not hot. Hot sauce and chips were delicious as were the margaritas.
Arrived on time Table was ready shorty after arrival Chips and delicious salsa came quickly Our waiter was attentive and personable and of course we had margaritas nice meal
Birthday for wife and friend
Service was good, but the seafood wasn't as good as I've had it before. Shrimp was a little dried out in my enchiladas and the ceviche smelled too "fishy" and not as fresh as I've experienced before.
Loved the authentic tasting food and drinks. Our waitress LT was great, she explained the food and paired our drinks.
My wife and I have been to your restaurant three times in the past and always purchase the same thing which is the chili relleno and short ribs. Each time it has been succulent and meaty short ribs and tender, moist relleno with sauce. This time we brought 2 friends and three of us had the relleno short ribs and it was terrible! The meat was tough...my wife had huge band of gristle that she couldn't even eat while mine was extremely tough and could hardly cut through. The relleno was also very different than before...it had thick breading that was very dry (the poblano pepper was also barely cooked) with hardly any sauce.
On the positive side, the salsa and chips were great and our little server was top notch...attentive with hovering!
So I am not sure that we will go back in the future because it was so disappointing. :(
we really enjoyed our dinner. Great food, drinks and wait staff. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Thank you!
Wonderful Mexican food and drinks. Not your normal restaurant. Homemade chips and salsa also.
Bad service , our waiter preferred to talk to his fellow coworkers instead of attending to his table , My son finished his food with no drink and I had to go find someone to bring our check so I could pay. BAD SERVICE ..But good food..The person who seemed to be the manager is the one I went to to get my check , he was more concerned at continuously looking at his phone than seeing what going on with the employees ... VERY DISAPPOINTING
The food and service is always excellent.
Good chips, great guacamole! Brussel sprouts are delicious! And we really like their top shelf margaritas!
