Decent food. I mainly came here for the avocado margarita and was kind of disappointed. I didn’t really get any hints of avocado in it and it was way too sweet. The food was good. My friend got the shrimp tacos and I got the mole enchiladas as well as a sweet corn tamale. I wish they didn’t top the sweet corn tamale with a ton of crema and cheese, kind of hid the flavor of the sweet corn. Overall, not a bad place for your Mexican food fix. Also, super odd location for a restaurant.
My cousin, boyfriend and I went to Meso Maya because of the reviews online and from friends. I chose this place because it was new to me and I figured my birthday was the perfect excuse to try it out.
While I understand that it was Saturday at 7:00pm, our waitress seemed to be in a rush from the get-go. Before we could even order cocktails or appetizers, she asked if we were ready to order our entrees. By the time we got an order of guacamole, our chips ran out and our waitress didn’t seem to care much and made it a big deal when we asked for more chips.
The specialty cocktail was disappointing. It contained more pulp than cocktail. The specialty dish was amazing, though. Everyone’s food was all really delicious.
Our waitress disappeared and we went at least 20 minutes without being checked on. One of the managers had to take care of the dishes that were sitting on our table, and a drink runner was the one who took our second round of drinks order. Still, our waitress was yet to check on our table.
And because it was for my birthday, we wanted to order a dessert but again, we felt rushed because our server was asking if we wanted the check. I needed a to-go box clearly and again, we wanted to order dessert.
My cousin and my boyfriend asked the server to split the check directly in the middle and she brought back a check that was messed up, and said “just give me your cards and I’ll split it it up.”
Food was amazing. Atmosphere was great. Service was awful.
Convenient, neighborhood location! Accommodating large party patio! (also has additional tables for smaller groups)
Food is more authentic Interior Mexico vs Tex-Mex. Very tasty!
Our waiter was very attentive! He also offered a detailed description of the featured menu choices!
My guests and I all enjoyed our yummy dinners!
Atmosphere was great, customer service was good. Our food was quite cold upon making it to our table, that’s my only suggestion for improvement.
Always delicious! We love having this restaurant in our neighborhood!
The skirt steak was a little tough need to marinate
But good meal great waiter
Y wives birthday and mine
The food was great as usual. The waitress however, was slow and inattentive. We would have ordered another drink but she didn’t come back to our table until we were finished with dinner.
We enjoy Meso Maya. The food is usually very good. Unfortunately we tried the Budin Azteca Pollo and Budin Azteca Camerons and found it to be unappealing visually and too much of one flavor although there were several ingredients. The Camerons were over cooked, small and too much salt in the dish. We were disappointed. The Queso Pablano on the other hand was delicious as an appetitizer and the specialty margaritas were great. It was a bit stuffy temperature wise for some reason...maybe because it was hot outside and the door was opening in the bar area too much. Our waiter was very good and attentive considering he was bar tending as well...we ate in the bar area. We had a reservation and all though no one was standing around waiting for a table we were told it would be 30 minutes before we could have a booth...hmm we were bummed this time around.
NONE of the staff were wearing masks, which was really disappointing.
As usual, excellent service and food. There was a group of about 16 next to us that were very loud. Sound abatement in this restaurant is poor so my wife and I had to basically shout to hear over the crowd. Other than that, everything very good. This is one of our favorite restaurants.
Incredible food! Service left a bit to be desired but overall, no complaints.
We had a great time
Waiter was very inefficient and lacked tact. After bringing the drinks he returned 20 minutes later to take our order as if nothing was wrong. Never going back to this place!
Food is OK, but noise level is way too high. xxxxxxxxx
All was good but restaurant was very hot, just a little uncomfortable
Tasty food, excellent service. As always.

Very busy. Staff very perfunctory probably because they were so busy. Staff very efficient and food came pretty quickly. Food was very good.
The downside was the noise level. It was so loud we could not hear each other. This seems to be the case in the majority of restaurants these days is the noise level. Hard to carry on a conversation!
Wait team and food was great
As usual, excellent food and great service. We only had a couple hours in town and we knew we had to come to Meso Maya! Looking forward to the next time.
We were sat in what looked to be a former wine room. The wait staff was attentive and thoughtful. The table adjacent absolutely obnoxious. The room echos quite a bit. So voices carry. The food was served hot and tasty. The glasses never empty and the wait was negligible for it being a Friday evening with a full house. They’re able to turn the tables efficiently. Aside for the annoying patrons it was a nice Relaxing Friday dinner.
Arrecho beef dish delicious! And blueberry dessert yummy.
Service excellent. But when they seated us outside, they should have warned us about the terrible flies. Yikes!
This experience with Meso Maya was incredible. Lakewood has to be the best location. From the minute we came in, we were greeted by the host or manager who was very welcoming. He knew we had a reservation, and informed us that the entire staff was aware of my friend’s gluten allergy. I was majorly impressed. The server was immediately double checked the corn chips for possible cross contamination. She was sweet and quick. We came during our work lunch hour. The food came out fast, hot, and so flavorful. We were able to enjoy the food, chit chat, and still make it back to work on time. Wonderful place.
The service is really great. The night (Saturday) we were there, it was too noisy. Too many people who bring their toddlers and babies with them. Rather noisy and annoying. The food is very good if you like Mexican food; not my favorite, but I was with people who love Mexican.
What a terrific evening -- we'd made a reservation and were seated right away, and the staff couldn't have been more kind and accommodating (my mom is 91 and moves very, very slowly). The food was sensational -- we had the chile relleno with short ribs, and the roasted beet salad. And the ranch waters are served the way I really love: Tequila over rocks, with fresh lime juice and a small Topo Chico on the side to mix as I wish. We will be back, sooner rather than later!
Food is DELICIOUS! Service is very professional. My wife and I have a hard time finding AUTHENTIC Latin Cuisine that we enjoy (don't like tex-mex as much) and this place has wonderful food. I judge a place based on how they cook their pork chops, and their "Chuleta De Cerdo", a pork dish with a nice and spicy red sauce, is JUICY, tender, charred on the grill JUST the right amount....getting hungry just thinking about it! So we would highly recommend them.
Zulma was phenomenal! Her great service stands out! The food and drinks were really good!
Love your restaurant but a chronic problem still exists with food being served room temperature. I truly hope you can remidy this!
And please print menus with larger print. I asked our server about this and he said you want patrons to use there phones. I understand this during the pandemic….but not now. Let’s return to “normal” please.
Always enjoy Meso Maya and the food (particularly the carne asada)
Way too noisy and no printed menus. Not everyone has a phone with him all the time!
Once again, the food and drink quality were outstanding!
The food was good. It was a little disappointing that the restaurant was out of so many food items.
Service is always great at the Lakewood location!! And their food and margaritas are excellent!
Delicious and authentic fare, prompt and excellent service, easy access even though it was very busy. Outstanding all around.
We love Meso Maya! The food is fantastic and the service is superior. Our party started with Mexican Martinis and Queso Poblano with Chorizo. Our amazing waiter Lilo recommended Pollo Budin Aztec, Cochinita Pibil, and Arrechera to share. Spot on! The dishes complemented one another so well for all four in our party. Lilo recommended the Pastel de Chocolate to finish. AMAZING! Can’t wait to come back!
Great staff, quality food. I return again and again.
Had dinner with colleagues. Service was prompt, all the dishes were great: guac app, rare salmon + brussels for my main were prepared perfectly, and ceviche to share.
It’s a bit difficult to explain everything because we were there on the night of a horrible storm. However the service was lacking and the best I can say is that it was poor. We waited forever for drinks , food, everything. I imagine that you don’t have enough people working there. The food was good but that is about the best thing I can say about our experience. Because of the weather there were fewer people and thus less noise.
Great food. Not only server but rest of the team/staff takes care of the guests. Went for my mother’s Birthday, She enjoyed every bit of it!
