Finding harmony between authenticity and originality is something that first ignited the flame at Mesa Verde back in 2013 and continues to feed it today. While it’s fairly evident that an affinity for Mexican food and agave spirits is at the helm of what we do, our city’s rank on the culinary frontier has brought with it a particular nose for experimentation.

So, since we’re very literally in the heart of Melbourne up here on the sixth floor of Curtin House, high above the city’s jugular Swanston Street, we feel it’s our responsibility to highlight what Mexican dining (and drinking) looks like in the eyes of the modern Melburnian.

I can't say that this place is elegant dining at all. The noise level from the music was way too loud. It feels like dining in a club. Very very unnecessarily loud music from a DJ within hard wood walls and glass so the acoustics of this place is bad. The combination of loud music, loud drunk people and bad acoustics made it an unpleasant dining experience. Especially when you have to shout across a 2 top table to be heard by your dining companion. Food was pretty good but I won't be returning to this club like restaurant. It's a shame.

I hadn't been to Mesa Verde for years and now I regret leaving it so long! The staff were all wonderful - helpful and attentive when you needed it but didn't pester us when we just wanted to chat and eat. All of the food was delicious. I really enjoyed all of the smoky flavours on the vegetable dishes. The flautas and sopes were my highlight. The drinks menu is very interesting and I want to come back soon to try more of the menu.

I usually would have great things to say about a place but, as an ex hospo ourselves,we keep getting sat down without any explanation of how the menu works,or the service. Comes to order food we get send main dishes before the entre. Like if you wanted a food sent at once at least warn your customers as that is not something to expect. And this is our 5th time dining there and nothing has changed. Thanks to the gorgeous Colombian girl that took the time to explain to us that that is how they do it after I raised it as an issue for me particularly because why would I eat my main before our ceviche. Sounds petty ,it does,but for what a person pays it’s about the experience also. The guy with the hat managing the whole venue is an icon but not who we want to see so laxed in venues. Props to the corn and black beans that saved the night from all items. Fish taco needed a different dressing it was quite dry bitting into the cole slaw with no kick. Pork taco was delightful and dessert creme brûlée was divine. Cocktail with a whole mint leaf just there was not great presentation. Agave and tequila options were a hit. Keep it simple and communication from staff to people dining is very necessary

Mesa Verde is one of our faves! We are from Sydney as we visit 1-2x a year and go to Mesa Verde every time! Only feedback is PLEASE bring the mushroom quesadilla back!!! It is the best thing you’ll ever taste. The new brisket one was very yummy but you can’t beat the mushroom one!!!

Fabulous dining spot in a hidden alcove in the city. I highly recommend this cool spot for food or drinks. They have happy hour between 4-6pm which is a bonus. The cocktails are divine and the food is a fabulous modern twist on Mexican cuisine. Definitely a must visit. I was down from Sydney and attending a showing of Beetlejuice. Since this spot is only a 7min walk to the Regent Theatre is was the perfect choice. I will definitely return on my next visit. Staff were awesome. (Oh, and as someone who is renovating, I could not resist taking pics of the cool pendant lights).

I highly recommend the Chef's selection. The food was outstanding and as an amateur Telquila connoisseur, the Agave pairing was superb. We will definitely be dining at Mesa Verde again.
