It was very loud and we could not have a conversation.
This place doesn’t disappoint. The octopus is on point
It’s my go to place every single time I am in the area!
I gave been going for years. I love the food, the staff and the owner is a wonderful and gracious host.
Mother’s Day brunch
We are return customers because this is the most eclectic, creative, and fun Mexican food in the area. I would strongly urge anybody to MAKE A RESERVATION before going.
Incredibly delicious, fresh menu. Service was fantastic - restaurant is a bit crowded and loud - but everything else makes it so worth it!
Went with a group of friends on a Friday night service and food was great. We got lucky and got a table in the front by the window and the noise level as not bad at all we all would talk and did not feel rushed by the server.
Outstanding with amazing fresh flavors and a unique twist on Mexican cuisine.
It was a delicious dining experience for all three of us from start to finish!
Food was okay. Tried some new dishes, short rib tacos and teriyaki chicken lettuce wraps. Both were boring. Had blueberry crumble for dessert, tasted like a blueberry muffin, again nothing special.
Margarita was excellent.
Outstanding restaurant- my go to when I come to Northbrook for business trips. Can’t say enough great things!
Hands down, favorite restaurant to go to when I am in town on business. The food is outstanding as is the service. Love, love this restaurant and highly recommend! Been there twice this week already.
Excellent food every time I have eaten at Mesa Urbana. Everyone is super friendly. Their margaritas are amazing. Sit at the bar and the bartenders will slip you samples of drinks they are making for others. We love eating at the bar!!!
Great quality of food. Red Sangria is one of the best. But need to update their bathrooms ...
We arrived at 6:00, so the noise level was very comfortable. By the time we left, the joint was jumping!! Our server was Gary. He was both charming, knowledgable and efficient. The four of us had margaritas that were superb. The guacamole was fantastic, enhanced by amazing warm corn chips and fun veggies.I had the salmon entree, which is both unusual and delicious, with an avocado glaze and caramelized mango and papaya. The men loved the grilled octopus and eggplant special. The other woman adored her mussels. We can’t wait to return!!
Very good spot. Nice bar area to sit and eat at if you can't get a table. Great Margaritas, diverse menu. Not your typical Mexican restaurant!
Great food. Creative menu, twists on traditional Mexican food. Great energy and buzz in the restaurant.. a little loud but great to always see this restaurant doing so well.
Mesa Urbana has the best fish tacos on the planet!!!
They brought a little cake with ice cream &candle . It was so sweet my mom was surprised this is her favorite restaurant. So we had to celebrate her birthday there.
Excellent service and food. We’ll certainly be back.
We had a great meal and great cocktails. The staff is great and the room is lively. It’s a but noisy - so be prepared for it- bit you can still converse with your table easily. We will be back again!
Always great food and service! Highly recommend the restaurant.
Just too much money for what you get
Love this restaurant! Best skinny margarita ever! Great ceviche and guacamole. Came with a party of 9 Wednesday night and all enjoyed!
This is a neighborhood gem. Tucked in a unassuming strip mall, their kitchen nevertheless delivers an excellent, innovative meal every time we visit. Service is attentive but not overbearing. And Sangria is to die for ...
Mesa Urbana is great! It's a great find, especially in the food desert that is the suburbs! It's definitely not traditional Mexican but more of a fusion spot. Everything we ordered was really yummy and the service was fantastic. I'd go back in a heart beat.
Been here several times. Margaritas are always amazing- they're what keep us coming back! Food is good, very pricey now. Service left something to be desired. One waitress for the entire restaurant is not sufficient. Bartender was kind enough to come over and ask if we'd like another drink. Never bothered to take a drink order for our kids. My husband and I will return, but unfortunately not economically practical for a family of 6 anymore.
The food is outstanding. We love it tgere
From the warm tomatillo salsa and chips to the flavorful cocktails to the meal everything was delicious!! We will definitely return.
Outstanding. Out of this world. Absolutely brilliant. Without words. I had the strawberry pineapple margarita with Maestro Dobel tequila...heated chips and heated tomatillo lime salsa...risotto encrusted halibut...blueberry bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. An explosion of flavors. All just melted in my mouth. Voila! I can't wait to come back. Seriously.
Salmon entree, fried calamari, and octopus were fantastic. Ambience is ok. Waited 20 minutes to sit down for a reservation. Prices are sky high for strip mall dining.
This restaurant is amazing! Their salmon is the best ever! I go there for that. The drinks are really great as well.
Our server, Luann, was great. The food is fair. They should determine what fusion they are representing. The prices are way out of line.......$5 for extra salsa? $24 for ONE cheese Chile relleno? $24 for rock shrimp risotto without even a piece of parsley in the bowl? However, the mussels were exceptional.
We had a great time & loved the specials
Somewhat expensive restaurant with no quite the menu for the prices
This is my third time at Mesa Urbana. Food is always filled with great flavors and unusual twists. My only complaint is the staff was too friendly. I estimate the waitress came over to us 12+ times asking how the food was. It got disturbing and she kept int erupting our conversation. Be attentive but don't be a pest.
I would highly recommend Mesa and look forward to coming back again.
This was our third visit to Mesa Urbana. The food is eclectic and exceptional. The drinks, though expensive, are very good. Service is attentive and friendly. Mesa Urbana is a great place to go for a special evening. We enjoy splitting and sharing appetizers and small plates.
The food here is incredible my favorite salmon anywhere !!!
