The shrimp in my pasta plate was a little well done.
As always everything about the experience was positive. The. Was beautifully presented and tasted fabulous.
They never forget to thank the diners for their patronage! Such a welcoming place.
This was our first time at Mesa Urbana. We went there for my birthday. The food is amazing. Our server Nicole was outstanding. The drinks are really good. I had the El Diablo margarita and it was really good. Just the right touch of spice. Everything was super fresh. The ceviche was so good we ordered another round and I should say I’ve never been a big fan of ceviche. Some of the items on the menu are a bit pricey but sooo worth it! We will definitely be coming back. If you like good, fresh food - this is the place for you.
My favorite restaurant and go to place for special occasions well as just a night out. Love the food and the friendly staff.
*Warning* *Eat here at your own risk*
This was, by far and away, the worst experience we have ever had at a restaurant. This was a Friday night and the restaurant was at capacity. Water was spilled all over our table, including in our food. There must have been upwards of 10-15 restaurant employees that were either working our section or could see the all the commotion. Not one person working here came over to help us. I had to get up, go behind the bar, get an entire stack of cocktail napkins, and clean up the entire mess myself.
After 5 minutes of still no attention, I had to go and tell the owner about the situation. The owner told me that I was being unreasonable because he did not see anything happen. He told me that I was wrong for then saying anything at all. His partner looked me dead in the eye from the bat and said, “get the f—k out.” I said, “fine”, and the four of us got our stuff together and started to leave.
The owner that I approached had to tell his partner to step back to stop escalating the situation. He asked me if we had paid our bill and I told him that we had not. He said, “ok, thank you very much and goodbye. As we were leaving, he changed his mind and he lost his temper. He then threatened us with police action if we did not pay the bill. We never said that we wouldn’t pay. He then immediately kicked us out and demanded that we pay. He called the police and reported us for refusing to pay our bill, which could not be further from the truth. He took our pictures on our cell phone and started telling lies to the police about our behavior.
The moral of the story is, do not eat here, ever. The definition of a strong business is not how they perform when things are going well. The definition of a good business is how they perform when their backs are against the wall. These guys failed across the board.
All they had to do was apologize and offer us dessert or something like that. You know, like every other restaurant on Earth.
Delicious food Creatively served. Lots of vegetarian options. Loved the meat choices too!
Edgar is the best. Really enjoyed the happy hour and the food, as always, great!
We love this place, always a go to for us. Made to order guacamole served with a crudité. Portions are large, be prepared to share! Delicious! Service is friendly and efficient and Mo makes sure everyone feels welcome
Mesa is consistent every visit!! We love the food and the staff. The wait staff will help you pick the perfect drink and dish!!!!
Food was flavorful and service was super! Can’t wait to return.
Great food and friendly service!
Continue to love this place! Always good food, great drinks...a little on the noisy side so not great for dinner conversation if more than 4 people, but what a find. Guarantee you won’t go just once.
The food is superb and the presentation beautiful
Great food and service!
Excellent food but main dishes getting pricy. Dish with three jumbo shrimp for over $30 is a bit high. It was tasty though.
City level food but priced a little too city for the burbs. The service was great. We had a blast with our server Lou. We’ll definitely go back.
Have been here twice now and the food is excellent. It's a lively atmosphere and seating is a bit tight, but it doesn't take away from the experience.
The food was great but the portions are small for the price. The noise level is high.
Creative food, super friendly staff!!
Just average food at downtown Chicago upscale prices. $24+ entrees, $12+ margaritas and $14 guacamole is just not justified by this food and drink experience. The "skinny" margaritas were treacly sweet and both my date and I both had queasy stomachs for several hours afterwards. Will not return.
We love this place!! It’s normally not super quiet, but this was a Monday night, so we lucked out. The food is consistently good and uber creative. Feels like a city place despite its deceptive strip mall location.
If I have someone out of town that wants a great restaurant where I don't have to drive all the way to the city this restaurant is my go to.
Another amazing meal -- I am never dissappointed
Service was excellent and so was food for the most part. Octopus app is not on the menu and offered as a special. The best octopus I've ever had. Eggplant w/tamarind side was also spectacular. Rack of lamb entree was very good, well cooked but a little bit tough. Salmon entree was also really good. House margarita was okay. Menu is a bit pricey but we'll definitely be going back!
Love this place. Food, drinks and service cannot be beat. Love the specials...
Food is generally very good. But I had the lettuce wrap tacos which were very mediocre
The chicken was very salty and dry. The salmon however, is very good.
Amazing food & service, I highly recommend this place.
Met a friend for dinner and everything was fantastic!
Mesa Urbana is our new favorite spot. We love the bar tenders & friendly wait staff . They make delicious homemade drinks. The food is very flavorful. Must try the soups, tacos. ceviche and Urbana Margatitas. Everything is delicious. Outstanding restaurant!
Food was terrific. Great Mexican fusion
Amazing food and drinks! The best octopus I’ve ever had. Great service! Overall, it was a wonderful experience.
This place was recommended by a friend and we will pass the word to the world :). Very nice place, super friendly staff, delicious food. Highly recommend.
We had a large group for a business dinner. The service and food was excellent. Our server was top notch and made it seem as though we were a small 4 top. Everyone in our group commented about how good the food was and each enjoyed the evening. I would high recommend!
Food is always exceptional here with occasional specials. I'm partial to the tacos and the pasta dishes. Friendly bar scene and excellent specialty drinks. Cuban mojito is a favorite.
great food and service
presentation was outstanding
The food is excellent. The salmon is really, really good. Delish.
Wonderful food—novel preparation and plating—in an unlikely spot. Everything we ate was delicious! We also had a very attentive and knowledgeable server making the overall experience very memorable. We will definitely be back!
Way too over priced even if the food tasted good.
Food was delicious and creative flavors in the Mexican cuisine. Great service!
A little pricey but delicious. Definitely worth the occasional splurge.
Not our first time eating at Mesa Urbana, and also not our last. There’s a nice variety of margarita options and other drinks. The guacamole is very good, served with fresh vegetables, which is a nice change of pace and very tasty. Chips and salsa were on the table, but we didn’t eat them - too much better tasing food to be had. The main dishes are just as good as any fine dining establishment in Mexico, and heads above anything else in the Northshore area. Our table had shrimp, risotto, and the house special seared tuna. Presentation was very nice, preparation was original, nicely seasoned, and delicious.
