Wait even though we had a reservation. Very crowded and very noisy.
I have been going to Mesa Urbana for years and it never disappoints. Highly recommend.
Love everything on menu, Lamb, fish, tacos ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+++. They knock the ball out of the park. ENJOY! Thank you Moe for another GREAT evening!
This was our first time there and we were pleasantly surprised with it. Food was unique and delicious. Servers definitely didn’t rush us...may not be the best place for a quick meal.
This is by far the best restaurant in the area and well worth your drive. Everything here is wonderful and do not by any means think this is Mexican food, it is far from it yet it is available.
Amazing ambiance. Downside: we waited for an hour for the table despite the fact that we had a rezervation. It was extremely busy. Staff was very nice though and gave us a free round of drinks and an appetizer for the inconvenience. Also, we ordered a couple of more rounds of drinks after being seated but each round was brought late. Food was quickly brought to the table though. Pro: close to home, amazing drinks and food.
My wife and I celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary with a great meal here. She had the shrimp and I had the lamb. Both were excellently prepared and presented. We started with the red sangria, which was terrific... with an interesting peach flavor. The chips and guacamole were also excellent. The server was very friendly and helpful. The food came out fast. This is a very popular place, so the tables are close together and noisy, but we could carry on a conversation without problems. Overall a very enjoyable experience with great food.
I was searching for a new Mexican restaurant in Glenview and found this gem without having to drive into Chicago! We had a 6:00 reservation for a party of 4 on a Saturday night and got seated right away even though they were very busy. The server was great at explaining the Mexican fusion menu and specials. I started with a hand-crafted hefe margarita which was made with grapefruit juice and it was fabulous! The complimentary hot tortilla chips and verde salsa were excellent as we were drinking our cocktails. Our table ordered the guacamole with cucumber slices, yellow beets and pickled white radishes and that was a great starter, though I wish there had been more veggies for dipping. Our other appetizer was the fried calamari which was cooked to perfection and the mango chili sauce was a nice dipping sauce. I chose the salmon as my main entree which was moist and delicious sitting atop caramelized green papaya and avocado purée. The flavors really did fuse together nicely and it was truly yummy!! We ended our meal by sharing one hot chocolate lava cake which was comped by the owner who stopped by checking our dining experience. That was a nice personal touch at this fun trendy restaurant!
We got out the door for $96 for two of us splitting the bill—a bit spendy for 2 entrees, 1 appetizer, and 2 margaritas. However, compared to regular Mexican food it was well worth the higher price for the uniqueness of the Mexican fusion cuisine!! We will definitely be back to Mesa Urbana!!
Love the vibe. The food is delicious .
The best Margarita we’ve had in along time. The entrees have unique twists to traditional dishes which are delicious.
-no espresso machine (only drip coffee)
-no hot sauce, only hot salsa
We love this rest we found it about 6 months ago and have gone back 6 times already. Love the food best sangria. Great service even though they are busy you don’t feel rushed.
Phenomenal service and amazing food. I give it the highest rating.
The salmon is my favorite , scallops are good but only got 2 , good size but should be at least 3 . The food is very good , I would absolutely recommend
delicious food, not your typical mexican restaurant. pretty expensive. food items were so creative, i felt like i was on an episode of "chopped"
Overall, great experience and service was great. Food was good but on the pricier side.
I love this place. Food is scrumptious and the service is great.
First visit there. The seafood pasta was delicious. My wife loved her jumbo scallops. I loved my meal. I will definitely return. Highly creative menu.
have enjoyed many dinners there, but the last one was different. Wine choices were very limited, and some cheap choices that were NOT good. Food was okay, waiter was on top of us too much. each time we have been there, it has been crowded, this time, it was really empty...
I love the salmon, the quality in an of itself is outstanding but the way it's prepared keeps me coming back for more! Drinks are fabulous too!
Great service and really good food. Totally enjoy the restaurant. My husband does not like Mexican food, but both times here he loved his food.
Charming, delicious Mexican bistro in a small strip mall was a susprisingly great find for dinner this week. Food was creative and very tasty! Original drink list-awesome margaritas! Happy hour food and drink menu available in the bar. Prices were a little higher than your average Mexican restaurant, but overall great experience. Empanada and flautas were amazing!
Staff was extremely friendly. We really enjoyed our first visit. Glad we found it on Open table.
The food is excellent, especially the empanada and salmon. The only drawback is how overfilled the space is. You can hardly move among the tables. So many people in a small space leads to a higher noise level and a stressful, not relaxed feeling. It was also very warm both times I was there. I hope they expand to a larger space soon.
I saw this restaurant on ABC's Hungry Hound segment and it looked good so decided to try it. I drove there from Aurora and wasn't sure what to expect. The restaurant exceeded our expectations! We were greeted by a couple of very nice people at the front door and seated. The waitress (forgot her name but she was Czechoslovakian) was very nice, provided excellent service and made good recommendations. The food was unique, fresh, creative and amazing- especially the butternut squash empanada. Best guacamole I have ever had.
People at next table had salmon that looked incredible and will be what I get the next time I am there. One person I was with stated that this is the best restaurant she has been to in 10-years.
Oh wait, perhaps I should give it an "average" review so that it is doesn't get too crowded when I want to go there so I don't have to wait (lol). The only critique I would give is that it is a little pricy and the Lentil/Spinach soup was little salty. Otherwise this restaurant was nearly a "10"!
We always enjoy our visit to Mesa Urbana. The food is great, the margaritas are THE BEST!
Fresh, creative gourmet Mexican food. Personable wait staff, attentive host Mo and room full of friendly diners. Absolutely a “10”.
Excellent Food, great service and fantastic specialty drinks make the restaurant tops on my list.
Outstanding... don’t walk run to this amazing dining experience
My girlfriend and I, went on a Saturday evening, early, we had reservations. Our dining experience was great from start to finish.
We were by a friendly, courteous host. Our reservation was noted, and we were walked to our table. they accommodated our request for a location change.
The table and setting, were neat and clean. A busboy immediately filled the water glasses and a friendly competent waiter was at out table.
The interior design and architecture is casual, yet very stylish and well done. By simple good design, the room is divided, front and back, into 2 distinct seating areas,
The food was outstanding. We had a chicken quesadilla appetizers. It was extremely good. For our entree, we had thick Ahi filets in a peppercorn breading, that was absolutely wonderful.
A manager was at the door, on our way out. He inquired about our meal and service. He was engaging and informative, and we spoke for about 10 minutes
Mesa Urbana is a great restaurant.
Salmon was amazing! Great guacamole. Service was a little annoying. Felt like he was rushing us.
Another great evening at Mesa Urbana! Mesa Margaritas were excellent and my salmon was so tasty and well prepared. Friendly service and attention from the owner made it a terrific night!
Mesa Urbana was fantastic! I had been waiting to get a reservation and decided to go on a Monday evening with a friend. It was amazing!! The food was exceptional, the service was very good and the atmosphere was fun. I will be going back again for sure and bringing even more friends!!
Overall the food was good. The only problem that I had was about the serves. He took to long to take our appetizer order, until I mentioned that we were ready. Once he placed the order he left to take a smoke break instead of taking our order. I noticed that when he came back he didn't even wash his hands.
I did mention to the hostess the lack of attention he was giving our table and he confronted me giving me excuses instead of taking care of the table and apologizing. At the end of our meal we had two birthdays (he brought us two desserts) but he didn't offer coffee or desserts to the rest of my guests.
I will return to the restaurant because the food is good but will try to get another server.
One of our favorite places to go. Love the food and staff very nice and attentive. Brought some friends with us this last time and they loved it as well.
Wonderful service. Outstanding food. Pleasant decor. One of my favorite go to places, occasion or not! Just love this restaurant.
The drinks are fantastic...my favorite is the Diablo margarita made with mezcal. It has a bit of kick. They serve a warm, tomatillo salsa with their chips. They also have a red salsa, too, also served warm. My absolute favorite dish is the mahi mahi tacos. I get it every time!
Great food, fantastic margaritas, nice ambiance. The salmon and he guacamole are to die for!
Terrific Mexican restaurant - one of the best in the suburbs. The owners are always there to greet you and are so welcoming. The drinks are great - creative margaritas and mojitos. We have gone several times and the meals are always terrific.
This place is very deceiving. It is in a strip mall and not easy to get to. But wow, is it worth it. Best margarita I ever had. The. Crab cake special was terrific, the salmon was outstanding. The banana cake was to die for. What an amazing meal. Can’t wait to return!
Food and service was great! But the restaurant is not conversation friendly. Tables are too close together and the noise level is extremely high. I wear hearing aids and I had to turn them all the way down because the noise hurt my ears. Must be the acoustics. Probably won’t return.
