Food is fresh and delicious. Service is great! Owner is charming. Very welcoming.
Best salmon and guacamole in the area.
Great dinner! Parking is difficult.
The food was delicious. It has a “city” atmosphere. Loved my cocktails !
Food is creative and pairs well with their well-crafted cocktails. Make sure to save room for dessert! I wish I remembered the name of our server because he was awesome! This is a neighborhood gem that we love.
Excellent meal with excellent service
The food is consistently good here. I love that they service the guacamole with beautifully sliced vegetables (in addition to homemade chips). Also try the cauliflower side! Great drinks too.
This was our third time there and we continue to love it. We especially like the guacamole and fresh vegetables they serve with it. The kids’ portions are very generous (probably could be shared) and the adult drinks are delicious. This time we were served by Luanne who was great with our kids! We’ll ask to be seated at her table again!
Overall restaurant experience was very good. Reservations made through Open Table were never received by the restaurant.
Got off to a great start with chips and warm salsa verde and only got better from there. Our appetizer fried calamari had a light not over fried taste the salad of mixed greens beets and feta also very good. Entrees were gnoc-chi with lobster for me and glazed salmon for my wife .This is modern Mexican ,we had a wonderful meal and only Mexican part was the chips and salsa.
We tried Mesa Urbana for New Year's Eve. The menu is creative and authentic; and the food delivers on taste! We'll be back to try several other items on the menu and specials.
Mesa Urbana is an unexpectedly sophisticated gem in the triangle on Milwaukee Avenue in Northbrook. Its interpretations of seafood in Mexican style are what I find especially attractive. Last night we had a grilled octopus with eggplant and red pepper, a trio of ceviche, and a clam chowder with plenty of fresh corn
It's great every time. Food is awesome, friendly staff, and the owner always makes sure you're satisfied. If you're hanging out with friends, on the date, or celebrating special occasion, I recommend this place!
The food and service were great! Looking forward to returning. The quest fundidp
This place is wonderful. On our last visit our server was adorable and the Manager came by and bought my family dessert. The food is always great. My only negative is it can get a bit pricey. The entrees are priced correctly but the appetizers & kids menu are a bit outrageous($15 for guacamole & $9 for a bowl of kids noodles with no drink included).
A unique and very excellent restaurant with clever delicious food ; Fabulous drinks , and a warm inviting atmosphere . The owners stop by to make sure you feel welcome and that your meal is up to , or over (!) , your expectations. It is a bit pricey but the food merits that . Only recommendation I might suggest is a change of menu a few times a year . I’ve been there so often i’ve nearly tried everything on the wonderful menu ! Special place for a special meal .
White fish special was truly special. Preparation and presentation out standing. Salmon was excellent as usual. Enjoyed the margaritas.
Anniversary dinner. Great food upscale Mexican
A week night Anniversary dinner was the perfect occasion for Mesa Urbana. While weekend evenings are boisterous and super busy, a Tuesday night was the perfect time to enjoy the extraordinarily delicious food, drink and service at this consistently excellent restaurant. It was our 6-7th visit and we’ll surely be back.
The food was very good but it's expensive for what it is.
This is now my 4th time here. Service was excellent. The taste and presentation of the food and drinks is just outstanding!
I like it when the host or manager walk around, stops at customers tables to get to know you and thank you for coming in.
Food is great but tables way too close together and they add more noise with loud music
Have never had a bad meal here. Always feel like I eat so healthy here.
Service was great! Drinks were awesome! Food was next level! Would recommend 10/10
Third time there, and it gets better every time. Some adventurous and enjoyable treatments of otherwise standard Mexican dishes. Good wine choices. Service could not be better, and the owner, Moe, always comes around to check. It is a little noisy But I can’t wait to go again.
I was pleasantly surprised with the food. Everything was delicious. Tables were a little close and the room was a little warm for me. Otherwise loved the experience
The lamb chops were excellent and cooked perfectly. My wife had the short rib tacos and they were also very good. My 1 1 year old daughter loved the chicken quesadilla and it's creative presentation. Service was average and the mesa margarita (house specialty) was underwhelming. It's not hard to make a great margarita even when using "fresh squeezed juices". $6.00 for a lemonade...c'mon man!
Loved all of the food! Our waitress was fantastic and we loved our meal. Perfect girls night out
Had the ceviche trio and grilled octopus, OMG! Delish.
My partner had a salad (uninspiring) and a quesadilla, yummy.
The salsa, service exceptional, food fresh, and good.
Place is small, cute, a lil loud, but the food and service is rock solid.
A bit pricey but mine was well worth every delicious bite.
We love dining at Mesa Urbana. The food is always wonderful and the servers are friendly and attentive.
The shrimp in my pasta plate was a little well done.
As always everything about the experience was positive. The. Was beautifully presented and tasted fabulous.
They never forget to thank the diners for their patronage! Such a welcoming place.
This was our first time at Mesa Urbana. We went there for my birthday. The food is amazing. Our server Nicole was outstanding. The drinks are really good. I had the El Diablo margarita and it was really good. Just the right touch of spice. Everything was super fresh. The ceviche was so good we ordered another round and I should say I’ve never been a big fan of ceviche. Some of the items on the menu are a bit pricey but sooo worth it! We will definitely be coming back. If you like good, fresh food - this is the place for you.
My favorite restaurant and go to place for special occasions well as just a night out. Love the food and the friendly staff.
*Warning* *Eat here at your own risk*
This was, by far and away, the worst experience we have ever had at a restaurant. This was a Friday night and the restaurant was at capacity. Water was spilled all over our table, including in our food. There must have been upwards of 10-15 restaurant employees that were either working our section or could see the all the commotion. Not one person working here came over to help us. I had to get up, go behind the bar, get an entire stack of cocktail napkins, and clean up the entire mess myself.
After 5 minutes of still no attention, I had to go and tell the owner about the situation. The owner told me that I was being unreasonable because he did not see anything happen. He told me that I was wrong for then saying anything at all. His partner looked me dead in the eye from the bat and said, “get the f—k out.” I said, “fine”, and the four of us got our stuff together and started to leave.
The owner that I approached had to tell his partner to step back to stop escalating the situation. He asked me if we had paid our bill and I told him that we had not. He said, “ok, thank you very much and goodbye. As we were leaving, he changed his mind and he lost his temper. He then threatened us with police action if we did not pay the bill. We never said that we wouldn’t pay. He then immediately kicked us out and demanded that we pay. He called the police and reported us for refusing to pay our bill, which could not be further from the truth. He took our pictures on our cell phone and started telling lies to the police about our behavior.
The moral of the story is, do not eat here, ever. The definition of a strong business is not how they perform when things are going well. The definition of a good business is how they perform when their backs are against the wall. These guys failed across the board.
All they had to do was apologize and offer us dessert or something like that. You know, like every other restaurant on Earth.
Delicious food Creatively served. Lots of vegetarian options. Loved the meat choices too!
Edgar is the best. Really enjoyed the happy hour and the food, as always, great!
We love this place, always a go to for us. Made to order guacamole served with a crudité. Portions are large, be prepared to share! Delicious! Service is friendly and efficient and Mo makes sure everyone feels welcome
Mesa is consistent every visit!! We love the food and the staff. The wait staff will help you pick the perfect drink and dish!!!!
