Great food and drinks, with an awesome view on the patio.
Beautiful setting by the water watching the sun set.
The food was great and loved the lava bowls the fajitas were served in. We knew the menu was limited but were disappointed that on the limited menu some items were not available...
Overall, great experience and amazing view over the water!
Items we loved were gone from the menu but we found new ones! Enchilada platter was awesome!
Despite my ‘confirmed’ reservation from OpenTable.....upon arrival at restaurant it was closed for vacation. First time OpenTable user....disappointed.
My husband has been wanting to try Mesa 21 and we finally did, taking out of town visitors with us. The food was very good - fresh and delicious. The service was excellent. Jose was our waiter and did a great job! We sat inside to enjoy the A/C.. We live in the neighborhood and will definitely be back.
We enjoyed our dinner at Mesa 21 very much! We would recommend it to friends.
This is by far one of my favorite restaurants in Orlando ! We recommend it to every friend we have that has never been. We came here last year for my spouse birthday and we have come back here at least once every 2-3 months ever since! The food is amazing, the staff is friendly and we have NEVER had to send anything back to the kitchen. Love this place!!
2nd time here. It was very nice and comfortable. Noise level was low enough that conversation was easy.
I made a reservation for 1pm on Fathers Day (it wasn't all that busy yet), with my husband and 4 kids (18, 12, 3, 1). We walked in and it smelled like a dirty towel, but then later realized it was the scented candles. The Hostess sat us down inside and told us someone will be with us shortly. The Hostess went back to the front and sat down a party of 3. While we talk and wait for someone to come to us, we realized the party that walked in after us already has their drinks ( alcoholic drinks, that take some time to make). We realized we have been waiting 15 mins, we called someone over and the guy just looked at us and kept walking, we all got up and left. This is our second time coming here, our first time was on Mothers Day last year and we had a good time, good service and good food. I don't know if they had a change in management, poor staff or short in staff but I will never go back or refer anyone else to this restaurant.
We enjoyed the food and our server was really great. The atmosphere was fun and really nice on the water. The only issue was it seemed dirty. The bathrooms were gross and the floor was sticky (everywhere). We went early in the evening too so it wasn’t even dirty from a busy night. Not sure we’ll go back but we might give it a second chance because everything else was terrific.
Our appetizer was forgotten, our order was incorrect, and the food was mediocre. The manager was nice and attentive though
Had been wanting to visit Mesa for sometime. nice patio area, right on lake Ivanhoe. Rita was our server and took very good care of us. Our group enjoyed the cocktails and chips. Food was also enjoyed, but the Carnitas was on the "fatty" side and would probably not order that item on the next visit.
Sitting on the deck with the view of Lake Ivanhoe was the best part. I got the shrimp taco and have had better for about half the price. Doubt if we will go back.
Fabulous food, great ambiance, and excellent service! Beautiful view of a lake as well. We all loved our experience there!
So disappointed in this place! We got a reservation hoping to have a wonderful Mother's Day Brunch only to find out they had a "special Mother's Day menu." No where was it advertised that it was going to be different, and when we asked about it they said they really didn't do a good job of advertising... yeah really! Facebook hasn't been updated since November!! We decided to try it since we were already there and really regretting so! Our waitress was horrible, told us she was losing her voice so she barely spoke to us. The margarita was way too strong (I know not a complaint for all, but I couldn't even drink it) My order was incorrect, my kids weren't even asked what sides they wanted so their orders were incorrect when they just brought out random things for them, my husband was not thrilled with eating breakfast foods at 2:30, and the menu was so limited and expensive for what it was. The "brunch" was supposed to last until 4, and at 3:25 the server came over and said they are switching to dinner so we couldn't order anything else. Another lady, not sure if she was a manager or not, did apologize for the inconvenience and brought out a slice of key lime something, which I can't eat anyway and my husband and kids did not care for. All in all, it was an awful overpriced experience that left us still hungry and very disappointed. Tacos are my absolute favorite and I was really looking forward to the taco station and we chose the place for the variety since my family doesn't have the same love of tacos. The only positive I can say is it has a nice peaceful view of the water, but it was raining so we didn't even get to take advantage of that. Really was hoping for a better experience, but this has been crossed off my list.
It took 30 minutes for our drink to come, the bartender was MIA, all the silverware had different knife sizes, and forks that were from the Dollar store, so if you order a steak but have a butter knife, how does if work. My husband order corn on the cob to come as an appetizer, waiter said "will see". Then he ordered a skirt steak with potatoes with BUTTER only. Food came super late, steak was poor quality rubber meat, potatoes came with cheese and the corn on the cob never came. He sent the potatoes back because he asked for butter only, the potatoes came back with NO BUTTER because the manager, which had an excuse for everything, said they don't use butter. We paid and left - simply awful.
The staff seemed overall disorganized. There was a general lack of awareness. For example, we were sitting by a wall separating a staff area above the seating area. and the staff was literally hanging over our table I could have touched them. Thankfully the hostess agreed to move us when another table opened. Later after asking if we were ready for our check and saying no, we were brought our check anyway. Small details but these added an awkwardness you don’t want on a date!
Great outdoor location. Authentic Mexican food. Service was a bit slow though.
We love the setting. The place was almost empty during happy hour. We had a new server who really did her best. Every wine pour from the bar was a different amount of wine, even on the same round. The fish tacos were the only truly great food that came out. The nachos were sad. We’ve had them at lunch & loved them. Just boring. The steak burrito didn’t have 8 oz of steak & all the beans were on one side (we were splitting it because from the description, that should have been easily done). No spices, again, just boring. That’s all that was in it.
We might try again, but this time wasn’t stellar.
Great service with very tasty food. Overlooking an amazing lake that accented the painted sky of the sunset
We loved Mesa21 - when it originally opened everything was very authentic. Now they have changed their recipes (I.e., cubed chicken in enchiladas versus the wonderful stewed/shredded chicken). The taste is different as well. Too bad, as this was one of our favorites.
I was celebrating my birthday with my friends , overall it was good . Sitting by the water created a beautiful ambiance, great perk there is a dock that you can take pictures it was perfect .We all ordered quesadillas which were really great , along with the beans and corn on the cob . So delish . The margaritas and lemonade were not good , too much acid not enough balance of acid and base . The waiter answered our questions fine. But they did nothing for my birthday they didn’t even say happy birthday or sing . For a “Mexican “ inspired restaurant I expected more . So it was an okay experience definitely will not be going again . If I do I’ll order to go.
Food was horrible, when restaurant first opened food was amazing and fresh prepared now rice taste like it came from a box and refried beans were the consistency of soup you literally needed a spoon to eat them. Churro dessert was burnt yet still brought to the table.
Great spot for appetizers and drinks. Service was great, and the appetizers were very good, but the entrees lack flavor.
Went to Mesi 21 for my sisters birthday and the food was great, staff was quick and provided excellent customer service.
The best food ever!! They used to have a place in Clermont so we came down to Orlando to their downtown location. We genuinely miss their food! Blows all other places out of the water!
Parking is a problem, although they offer a valet. Viewing the lake from the table is what sets the restaurant apart, but I recommend the lunch hour or a later dinner because of sun glare. I-4 construction has not been kind to the scenery, either. The staff was friendly, cheerful and welcoming - they did a great job. The wait for our food was longish, but not bad. My chief gripe is that the food is average Mexican fare, but the prices are seriously high ($15 for a burrito). I suppose I am paying for the vista, but that is not enough (especially with I-4 as it is) to draw me back for more.
Server never came to my table. We had to ask other servers for things or to bring our server to us.
This is my third time and and the service has always been the same but the food is always fantastic!!!
Scenery is good, good atmosphere. I’d like to come back and try the tower! :-) Overall it was good, nothing great but we’d come back. They seemed to be “out of several things” which is inexcusable for a Friday IMO, otherwise it was fine.
Honestly, I’ve have way better tacos in the Orlando area. The location was nice. That’s it. The service wasn’t that great either. And the patio had these bright lights that were so bright that gave me a headache.
Mesa21 has been on our list to try for awhile and we were highly disappointed. The food was room temperature and bland while our drinks were flat. The staff was so disengaged that we were never asked once about our experience. At one point the music turned off so we ate our meal in the awkward silence of the restaurant.
Extremely disappointed with the overall experience. Restaurant was recommended to us by our daughter. Menu items looked quite good, but it went downhill after that. We waited almost 45 minutes for our meal to arrive. Was not even very busy. I was really looking forward to going there because there was an item on the menu that is a favorite of mine. I ordered it and when it arrived not only was it cold and undercooked but it was not even brought to the table the way it was supposed to be, in a lava rock. I had to send it back to heat it up and only then did they tell me the reason it did not come the way it was supposed to. They knew that before i ordered so they should have told me. In addition, my wife’s dish came after my dish so we couldn’t even start eating together.
We like the views.. happy hour with six dollar margaritas is great and the food is pretty darn good!
What probably could’ve been a wonderful night at Mesa 21 if the restaurant was open. According to Open Table the restaurant closed at 10pm. Wasn’t able to attend my 9pm reservation because the restaurant closed at 9pm.
Great service and the food and drinks were delicious.
I eat at Mesa21 fairly regularly for lunch as I work nearby and the food is actually really good. This dinner experience, however, the service was very, very bad. Not sure if this was a common thing or we were just unlucky but we might as well have been invisible for as much as we had to flag someone down for pretty much every thing we needed or ordered. There were loads of empty tables so they cant even say b/c it was busy. Also we were given cocktail size napkins, plastic cups and plastic silverware. For dinner. As if the dinner service struggle wasn’t enough, they apparently turn the restaurant into some rave for scantily clad youth around 11pm, complete with DJ, lights and people randomly milling about during dinner service. Def keep my visits to the lunch hour if I go back.
We were seated quickly but then waited for close to 40 minutes until a server was assigned to our table. We asked for waters for the table and the server only brought one for the person that spoke. Our drinks from the bar took close to 15 minutes to come out. Just poor service overall. Food was mediocre. Not great, not bad.
Excellent food and the Margarita Tower was awesome!
Great views on Lake Ivanhoe and great guacamole and margaritas, among other items. We love it!
