Appetizers and entrees we ordered were all excellent. Very happy with the food. Service was pretty poor, however. After we were seated, our waitress didn’t approach our table for 10 minutes. Actually considered getting up and leaving. Every time waitress came to our table, which was seldom and far apart, she was in such a rush, she was at the table for a very short time and rushed off before we could finish talking to her or asking questions. Felt as if we were a bother to her and that she would rather we weren’t there. Also, I would recommend not asking at time of reservation if there is a special occasion, if nobody at the restaurant is going to acknowledge the special occasion while you are there.
Our server Dylan was outstanding and super friendly, he made our first experience there extremely enjoyable! The food was so tasty, drinks were great, we will definitely be back!
Great service! Lobster quesadilla was delish along with the brussel sprouts. Yummy cocktails as well.
Loved brunch here! The natural light coming in felt amazing and we had an attentive server. :) I don’t even like Brussels sprouts but my friends ordered some for the table and they were to die for! Everyone loved their food; we will be back!
I've eaten here probably about 6 times, And it's like a 50/50 split between good experiences and disappointing experiences. This most recent time, our server forgot several items, we had to sit at a table right next to the door (despite having a reservation and there being other 4-tops where our party could have sat), and then when we were ready for the check, our server was nowhere to be found. The food and drinks were great, but consistency in service could be improved.
Love this place. Such a good vibe.
Great time had by the family celebrating 77th birthday. Appropriate social distancing was done.
Excellent food for a Friday during lent. You don't always want a fish fry. The lobster quesadilla and cauliflower pad thai was outstanding.
Great service and food! We will be back.
I saw Merriment on the Food Channel and was expecting so much more. We went on a Sunday afternoon, and they had a special "midday" menu which included 3 entres only. I complained about it, telling the waiter that we had travelled 1-1/2 hours to get there and he talked to the kitchen and they then made more entrees available. Overall, it was a great disappointment. There were no other diners there (though they insisted on reservations with many conditions). I would not go back. It was overall a grave disappointment.
great place for casual brunch service is consistently great! yummy food amazing drinks super trendy vibe. its our go to for breakfast
We had such a great night here. We went because of the night rating on open table.
The food was great, drinks fantastic and the service from Dave was the best! If we’re in Milwaukee again we shall re visit.
excellent burger and fries, good cocktails, and friendly bar tenders! I always enjoy it here!
We went for my roommates birthday. The place had a very unique style which I did like. Service was great. Drinks were great but the food wasn’t too good.
I would give 5 stars if tables/people were more spread out for covid reasons. Other than that, food was amazing, good service too!
A solid go-to restaurant for comfort food and cocktails
Burgers were great! Service was friendly and very nice casual dining with cute string lights and garage like doors that look like the may open during the warmer months. Gives like a cute backyard summer time feeling with the sting lights, easy going vibe. Felt there weren’t a ton of “regular” options for food. Not a ton for a picky eater. Expensive for what it was. Still delicious and will still be back.
Great ambience and COVID safety. We had the Valentines dinner special - Osso Bucco which was outstanding.
Small but interesting menu. I'd like to come back and try several other entrees that I obviously could not get to in one visit. Large room that still was able to hold quite a few diners despite pandemic restrictions. My entree was good but not great. The beer selection was pretty good for a place that does not highlight that. The service was very good - a nice-and-steady amount of attention. Ambience was a little hard to adequately judge due to the pandemic and the brutally cold and snowy weather on the Saturday evening before Valentine's Day. The music over the speakers was to my liking.
David was our waiter and he did an exceptional job. We shared the Avocado Bowl and the Lobster Quesadillas and were very impressed with the freshness.
Thank you!
Went there for bottomless mimosas which was fine. The food was quite disappointing though. Ordered the chilaquiles which were bland and lacking a lot of flavor.
First time at MS with friends and as many during COVID, it had been a while since a night out. Merriment did not disappoint and lived up to all the reviews and recommendations. From well poured drinks to start to decadent dessert finish, each part was well played by MS staff. Appetizers of chick magnets and brussel sprouts were a delicious start. I had heard the merriment burger was amazing and it lived up to reputation. The Swayze Burger melted in your mouth like the clay in Patrick Swayze's hands in the movie Ghost...we finished with PB&J shots and pecan pie.....tremendous finish to a really great night......thx Merriment....I'll see you soon!!!
We like the atmosphere and the sound level at Merriment Social. Awesome burger and French dip sandwiches.
Merriment is always a solid brunch spot. We tried the potstickers for the first time; those were a must-have. Chilaquiles and breakfast sandwich were both fantastic. The bloody with jalapeno vodka was a good upgrade-- spicy without burning your tongue off. Not our first visit, definitely won't be the last!
Great food!
Great food and wine. Excellent staff. We will be back!
Burgers were great and we loved the Brussels sprouts.
We had a great Sunday brunch here on 10/11/2020! Service & food both excellent.
great food and place
Great food! Great staff! Great music! One of my favorite spots in all of milwaukee!
Tasty food and great service
Had our first date out since March and we picked the perfect spot. Amazing cocktails with all the detail, fast service, all staff wore masks and plenty of space outdoors at our patio table.
A 5% "Covid service fee" is added onto your bill. There's no reference as to why you are being charged this fee (What does it go towards)? I don't mind donating to a cause...but don't put that on my bill without my knowledge.
We had a great evening. Social distancing and masks were evident. The service was spectacular. Our server was extremely pleasant and attentive. Actually, he provided the best service I can remember in a casual or upscale restaurant. Our only complaint is the price of the food in this very casual restaurant. Our meal was good but some of the prices seemed over the top for what it was. For example, one of us had the fried chicken “dinner” for $23. The chicken came with two delicious biscuits but that was it. Nothing else. No potatoes, or slaw - or even a veggie. A few menu items could have been ordered a la cart as a side but that would have added another $12-$13 to the price of the meal. We loved the environment but it probably won’t be a regular place for a casual meal.
Brunch with friends. Wait staff was very attentive, drinks were decent and food was nicely fried and as expected.
great food. but there was no one there and there was not much around
We had dinner last night at Merriment. We are not from Milwaukee so we were not aware of the mask ordinance. The host told us very rudely that we need to have masks on or else the restaurant will be fined $500 and he is not going to be responsible for that. Rather than "we require masks unless you are eating or drinking did you bring them with you? If not, we can supply you with one." We went outside to discuss who would go back to the car to get our masks when he walked by and practically threw them at us. Then, seated us next to a dumpster even though there were three other open tables for two. Needless to say we were very close to walking out the door. Pros we experienced were ambiance. Nice patio, socially distanced and inside had a fun vibe going on. We ordered the brussel sprout appetizer and they were delicious and a large portion to feed up to four people. We order a craft cocktail which was also wonderful. I had the fish tacos and my husband had one of their specialty burgers. The fish tacos were disappointed. Fried fish, too much sauce, bland mushy rice and the best part was the beans but a tiny portion was served. The burger and fries were excellent. Our waiter was so so. He left our empty glasses sit for 15 minutes and placed dirty glasses from another table on our table and left them there. Overall, I was not overly impressed. I would go back for drinks and an appetizer but not dinner.
Great food and service!
My wife and I were very impressed with Merriment Social (enough that we went back and had brunch the next morning there as well!!!) My wife had the fried chicken and loved it, I had the Swayze burger and loved it as well. Very happy with the food, staff and the patio was very nice to sit at as well.
Highly recommended!!!!
Perfect place for evening meal or just a drink at the bar. Great venue, great service, great food. We take all of our out of town friends and they rave about the place. My son lives in Brooklyn and Merriment Social is his first stop when he comes to visit. Love the place.
