The food is beautiful and delicious. Their safety protocols made me very glad that I chose them for my dining out experience.
So happy to have Merrimans open. Every safety precaution observed. We have had lunch twice and dinner twice. The prix fixe is excellent on Sundays and we had a fantastic prime rib on Thursday. We can recommend and we will be back soon.
Please contact me to discuss. Thank you.
Always a great time coming to eat here. The staff is always amazing and the food was so good !!!
You can always count on an exceptional meal. - Fresh, organic, local and expertly prepared. - I feel that going to Merriman's to eat is a real treat!
Fantastic. Fabulous Fresh Local food goes without saying. Service impeccable. Best Mai Tai I have ever had in my entire life.
Fantastic and friendly service. The food is simple, but is prepared very well using high quality local ingredients.
This was our third experience dining at Merrimans. It was outstanding. Warm staff. Spaced tables. Clean. Delicious cuisine sensitively prepared. The winner of our dinner was the Asian baby spare ribs. Tangy, Spicy, tender.
Well, all their deserts are a rocket to flavor heaven.
We LOVE Merriman's. We drive 2 hours each way to visit our favorite restaurant and are always impressed. They have done a fabulous job making us feel comfortable with COVID restrictions. There was a lot of room, air flow and safety. The food is always delicious. Always happy!
Lovely presentation, plentiful and very flavorful. The ribs were outstanding. The best most tender and not overpowered by sauce that we have had on the island in a long time. Cudos to Merrimans. Hope they keep it up even after reservations increase.
Outstanding innovative food - mostly fresh and local
Super nice staff
My celebratory dinner after having just completed a 14 day quarantine. Our meals were stunningly delicious. Service was, as always, exemplary.
My wife and I visited to celebrate our one year anniversary of living on the Big Island. This was our first time eating in a restaurant since COVID and we felt extremely safe - temperature checks, masks, servers wearing masks and gloves and all tables socially distanced. The food was top quality, the wine selection was large and the service was exceptional.
The Prime Rib special on Thursday nights is a wonderful meal and deal!
This is my favorite restaurant in Waimea and one of my favorites on the island. They use mostly local ingredients and everything is so fresh. The mai tais have a delicious lillikoi foam and the burger is delicious. This time we tried the lobster/steak special and it was divine, along with a new ono ceviche. We’ve been here at least 20 times and have never been disappointed.
Excellent value and quality of food. We love merrimans.
They get it all right. Every time. Best value at lunch. Sunday night price fixed meal is special value as well.
Before the pandemic, Merriman's was one of the islands best fine-dining restaurants. Sadly, Merriman's now does not have the ambience of a fine-dining restaurant. Specifically, Merriman's no longer serves hot bread to their customers, the silverware is wrapped in paper napkins, replacing cloth napkins and the servers are prohibited from dispensing pepper using pepper grinders. When asked about the changes, the management says that these changes were necessary because of the pandemic. As a comparison, other fine-dining Big Island restaurants still use cloth napkins, serve hot bread and use pepper grinders, even during this pandemic. These restaurants have been able to preserve their fine-dining atmosphere and still ensure safety during this pandemic.
This was our first visit since Merriman's reopened, now with social distancing. The food was as good as always - which is delicious, and attractively presented. The service was fine, friendly and well informed if a bit slow given how few tables there were with Covid restrictions. I assume this was driven by kitchen preparation rather than the server. The noise level was much lower than before when there were many more tables. It was nice to be able to hear my dinner partner easily! In normal times, the room could use some noise dampening, though I always have enjoyed my meals there. All in all a very pleasant experience.
Excellent lunch with a friend. Very limited menu, but still plenty of choices. I miss the smashed potatoes though
Lovely luncheon after avoiding all restaurants for so many months. The seating was great with tables far from
one other and we sat next to an open window with lots of air flow. I noticed when the occupants of the closest table
left, the staff was over there wiping everything down with diligence. I ordered the Caesar salad, lobster and lilikoi
mousse desert. Everything was delicious and it was a big treat being served in such a fastidious establishment.
It was a very enjoyable afternoon. Merriman’s fare was scrumptious, as always.
Merriman's Waimea is our favorite restaurant to go for special occasions, and this was our SECOND time there in a couple weeks. We love the setting, the food, and the service. From beginning to end, it's top notch. Two of us had the Kahua lamb, which came with a pasta and locally-grown mushrooms. It was absolutely delicious. The third person in our party had the soup of the day and Kauai shrimp, and she kept commenting how amazing they tasted. Mahalo Merriman's. And due to COVID, they are taking extra precautions, which I appreciate...Hand sanitizer and taking temperatures at the door. The tables are nicely spaced out. I felt safe the entire time.
Mahalo so much for providing for us a memorable experience. We were celebrating my birthday and the service was attentive, personable and actually predictive in that our server brought us things before we even asked. It was amazing. The food was delicious, perfectly prepared and every course and item on the plate was a taste sensation. You nailed it in every possible way. The table spacing, sanitation and mask wearing had us feeling very safe. Thank you thank you!
Love the food. Love the service. Love the Merriman staff. And love the Place!
Wonderful experience. We highly recommend this restaurant.
We always feel special and well cared for when dining at Merriman's. The host, our server and the manager expressed "Happy Birthday" to me during our dining experience. And in addition to the fabulous meal, I received a scrumptious piece of chocolate mousse for a birthday dessert! I was in heaven!
Friday, my wife and I had another outstanding evening at Merriman's. We both enjoyed perfectly cooked steak and lobster dinners. The new executive chef is both creative and accurate in his food preparation and is one of Hawaii's best.
Great fish (kampachi) taco lunch with sweet potato fries. Friendly, attentive service.
The Thur Ribeye special was amazing. We all had it. Each got the cook on the meat we wanted rare to Med well. Mashed creamy potatoes and horseradish sauce just added to the home comfort meal. The ribeye melted in your mouth. And of course the chocolate deserts with the Beaujolais red wine special was perfect end to meal.
Only thing could have made it better was the homemade bread which we i day and there is not enough volume to do. We will be patience. See you again on another Thur for sure!!!
We are gratefull for the restaurant to be open. Thanks
Outstanding. Start to finish!
Last Saturday, my wife and I had another wonderful dinner at Merriman's to celebrate my wife's birthday. The cocktails, food and service were again outstanding. Merriman's certainly is one of the best restaurants on the Big Island!
Excellent experience as always! Love making the trip across the island to our favorite restaurant! Mahalo nunui!
Very nice staff .... extra help with ordering and making Recommendations
In terms of flavors, Merriman’s never disappoints. Everything was truly delicious. That said, wow, it is expensive. Average entree $49. We were celebrating a birthday and were served a complimentary dessert which was a nice touch. Service was attentive and professional but of course everyone uber-cautious amid COVID concerns. Dining room stripped of most of its tables with the result that we certainly felt safe from arrival to departure. Merriman’s is a wonderful special occasion dinner option but lunch is probably a better value for your dollar.
Great service ,food and drink. Your special shrimp with the white sauce was
An iconic must-visit restaurant on the Big Island. All local and crafted masterfully. Thank you for a fabulous time!
It is great that Merriman's Waimea has been able to reopen. Very proper COVID-19 compliance even to the point of wearing a mask while ordering. Went for lunch and had the off menu daily fish special. It as as good as we remembered. A special treat was 25% off a bottle of wine. Excellent coffee and desert.
We were excited to see that Merriman's Restaurant in Waimea was reopened and made a reservation for a friends birthday dinner celebration. Unfortunately, the menu is limited, and most every entree had broccolini as the vegetable? The waitress told us that bread was no longer being served and proceeded to crumple the menus we had just looked at in her hands. The caesar salad was mediocre and I ordered the fish special which was tasty, but nothing special. I should have stayed home and cooked myself! Merriman's is lacking in the WOW factor at this point! Tables were socially distanced.
Merriman's is certainly one of the best Big Island fine-dining restaurants. The food, beverages and service are exceptional. Merriman's new executive chef is a true culinary master!
