Very good service
Wonderful selections! Great food. Great service and ambience. Will definitely go back!
Excellent place to discover. Staff was fantastic and were very nice. It was a great Birthday !
Our dinner was amazing! Tim was our server and exceeded our expectations. The lobster pot pie was exceptional. Very well seasoned and the seafood inside was not overcooked. The ribeye, chicken, and cavatelli pasta were also great. Our friends were really impressed with their overall experience.
I thought it would be to noisy to sit outside near the street but I was wrong. The noise level inside was above my comfort level. I should have requested outside.
Staff was great. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.
It's impossible for a Japanese person who has a great smile and has no smile at all
You should be aware in Hawaii that you are getting money
A woman wearing a dark blue jacket like a manager has no smile and is the worst service It is better to study
This lunch was a first time experience for me and my friend. Altho we enjoyed our lunch, unfortunately our waiter was not one you would find at at a high end restaurant. There were a number of instances where we felt he needed to work on:
Upon greeting us, he never once introduced himself to us.
We ordered an appetizer, salad, and entree.
We first got our salad and got our appetizer after we finished our salad.
After our salad, he took our utensils away and when our entrees arrived we had to wait to get our utensils.
He never once came back to check if our water or drinks needed a refill.
He never came to check on us to see how we were doing.
He was, fortunately, friendly. Most waiters would make “small talk” with its patrons but he made no attempt
to chit-chat with us.
My friend an I thought maybe he was just a rookie on his first day on the job.
I left a 20% tip, though, which normally I would tip 10-15% tip for the service we got.
Merriman's is our favorite restaurant in Honolulu. We book celebrations and dinner with friends there frequently. From the wonderful service to the fabulous food, we recommend Merriman's as outstanding.
We went for a friend's birthday and the team was excellent. They accommodated a last-minute addition to the reservation for our larger group without complaint, which was amazing since it was a very busy night for the restaurant. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining - we wanted him to come home and hang out with us! I'm a huge fan of the food - having grown up with Merriman's on the Big Island, so I knew it would be a treat. From start to finish, a wonderful experience.
Happy hour for two was awesome! Food, drinks, and service were great! We look forward to going back for more!
The rib eye steak and oysters were my favorite but everything was tasty. We had a full course meal with cocktails then dessert and coffee at the end. The server was attentive and professional. We made an evening out of what was going to be a simple dinner! We just kept ordering :)
Nice option if you're nearby and want a good meal at a reasonable price. One of the daily specials was falafels which were excellent and welcomed by this vegetarian.
Food and service was great. Looking forward to going again!
We did a birthday Dinner here. We loved the food. The service was also great!
The fish was moist, tender, and flavorful, as were all the side dishes. We had a wonderful, relaxed lunch.
Excellent service as usual.
Honolulu Merriman’s overall was a very nice experience. We went on Luau Monday night for our anniversary dinner. Reception was initially off-putting. We arrived about 45 minutes early just to see if we could be seated earlier. We were told maybe and that we would be texted if anything opened up, possibly 15-20 minutes. No problem we did a little window shopping. We waited and then returned at our scheduled reservation time. The receptionist didn’t remember us. We were seated immediately. Doubt if she even tried to accommodate us earlier. Ok. No big deal.
Table service was good. Took awhile for our server to get to us, but attentive once contacted. We had the Luau prix fix menu and it was delicious! Crispy succulent pork belly, savory squid luau, lobster/fish laulau, lomi tomato/poke, taro fritters all included for a reasonable price. Everything was prepared well.
We didn’t care for the volume inside the restaurant. Good Hawaiian guitar player was pretty much drowned out by harsh acoustics from table conversations. If you like that kind of thing then it was passable. I would probably return for outside dining where it was less noisy. You can hear the music better on the patio.
Overall, a good experience. There are many dining choices in Honolulu, but I would probably only return to sample their luau prix fix menu and get outside seating. Cheers!
The staff was exceptional and food was delicious!!
Great date night/special occasion spot! Fresh, locally sourced food. Excellent, interesting cocktails as well.
This was the last Merriman's that I had to visit and have completed each of the distinct locations. Consistency wise of food, beverages, ambiance and service are their hallmarks. Every location has something different experience to offer that showcases their talents. I look forward to my yearly visit in Kauai in September.
great food and service. I like how they treat returning customers with a free appetizer, too! The only suggestion to have a non-alcoholic option with the welcome Proseco! It's awkward to decline for the guests who don't drink.
I have dined at Merman's Hawaii at least 10 times and I love their consistency! Food and service are always excellent! The ambience is spacious and here is my only concern. It is way too noisy for any kind of conversation. It may be my age. However, over all I love Merman's!! I'll be baaaack!
For my money there are two outstanding restaurants in Honolulu: Fete and Merriman's. I love French wine and Merriman's has lots of great French wines on the list. They are not cheap, but if you like French wines (and everyone should because they are food friendly) you won't a better list anywhere in Honolulu. The menu is wonderful, and the food is prepared well. The only downside is the noise. The restaurant is always busy and two walls are all glass windows which don't absorb the noise. It's a small price to pay for great food, wine and service.
The food was excellent, but the price was just a little too high for what we were getting so after paying the bill I felt abused as a customer. I will come back to Merriman’s, but less often.
What a beautiful place. Our server, Kai, was so kind and attentive, honestly, everyone working was very warm and friendly. We ordered the Bread Basket, a Caesar, and some Smokin Oysters to start, all were AMAZING! We should have double the order of oysters, they blew us away! Everything from the cocktails to the food, to the atmosphere, was so perfect. My cousin is vegetarian so we also ordered the Taro Enchilada and all the vegetable sides, so fresh and seasoned to perfection. Those potatoes are the best I have ever had! Even their musician was fantastic! We want to come back for their early week dinner specials- Luau Mondays, Mucho Mahalo Tuesdays and Prime Rib Wednesdays! If anyone has already tried any of them please post/share! We can't decide, it all sounds awesome.
We were running late for our reservation but Rina on the phone was courteous and understanding. It just so happened that Rina was our server when we arrived. We stayed from 12pm until 5:30pm and we received OUTSTANDING service from Rina. My guest from out of town was hard to please and particular but Rina handled her like a pro and everything went seamlessly. A great time was had by all. It definitely made our nearly $300 lunch for two well worth every penny. Rina you are amazing! Thank you for a great experience, we will be back!
I was visiting Hawai’i for the first time!
Good, service and atmosphere were all fantastic! Live music enhanced our dinner experience. We actually went back for lunch the next day with business associates.
Great restaurant with wonderful staff, beautiful ambiance and amazing food. The Tako and Country bread is a real winner, I’d go in just for that and make it my meal.
Food and service was very good but the ambiance was not quite what a restaurant of their price level should be compatible to. Tables are close together and we were seated close to the service/kitchen area. It was difficult to have a conversation because of the noise level and the close seating.
Great service. Excellent food. Just an overall good night.
Exceptional experience every time we have been there
It was our third time at Merriman’s and we were there for our 26th Anniversary! This was a wonderful experience as usual and this has become such a memorable and special place for us!
Absolutely dine here! Great vibe & food!
The fish mani special was delicious. Too much brown rice instead of vegetable
We have visited all of The Merriman restaurants on all of the islands and this was our least favorite. It was such a disappointment. The service was extremely slow and the portions were very small but expensive. Nothing stood out like it has at the other locations. That was an incredibly pricey lunch that was a huge let down!
