The wine selection was nice with a good variety to choose from. We had the biscuits and shrimp truck appetizer, which were prepared just right.
We shared the scallops and filet entrees which were seasoned and cooked just right. Overall, great taste and nothing was overcooked which happens at some places.
Just wish the desert menu had a wider selection to choose from. Most of the desserts offered were very rich and I don’t like my desserts overly sweet.
Overall, a great dining experience. We’ll be back!
Great experience! Loved the food and the waitress was great. Love coming to this place!
Excellent food, slow service with interesting comments from the waiter
Enjoyed it but they need more waiters and/or cooks. We waited awhile for our food!
My meal was outstanding. Great flavor and perfect size. My service was good: attentive but not overbearing. The menu was great and I’d definitely like to come back to try more.
Incredible food and service! Such a delightful dinner! The ribeye was excellent!
Food was great and the service was awesome. More than one person checking on us. I would definitely go again.
One of my favorite restaurants in Honolulu. The service is outstanding as are all the dishes. The only one I really didn’t care for is strangely the hamburger. It’s too lean but If you like it that way .
The food was very tasty and the waiter was very friendly. He appeared to be very busy so it seems like he had perhaps a little too many tables to service. There was a problems with the dessert being ready and available; however, when it did come it was very tasty. I am not sure if the waiter was allowed the option of not charging for the dessert or if he paid for it since it took quite a bit of time before it was served but that was a very nice gesture. Nevertheless we had a good meal and enjoyed our first time to dine there and we will be back.
My husband and I were wonderfully surprised by this new find in Ward Village. The food was amazing, the staff super friendly, the ambiance cheery. Can’t wait to go back!
Second time there. Even better than the first. The service is top notch and food was great. Highly recommended.
We totally enjoyed the service of our waiter, Taka. The three of us agreed that service is an important part of the dining experience. We tried all the specials he described because he did such a great job and we greatly appreciated his patience through all our questions. We had such a wonderful time, which made it such a great birthday celebration fo me. Merriman's was my choice to celebrate this occasion.
Overall, a great place for food. The downside was the noise level (which was consistently over 70db according to my Apple Watch) from the liquor customers a table away who were undoubtably having a great time trying to speak above each other and the piano. I suggest maybe installing a short partition between the bar and the dining areas to deflect some of the loud voices back towards the bar area.
A more pretentious restaurant may not be found. All form, little substance. Dinner began with the wait staff recitation on how what will be served was locally sourced and sustainable. There was even an apology for one menu item not from a local source. Fine, but those items are not how I choose where to dine. I am looking for good food at a fair price, which was average at best.
The evening ended with a surprise on the bill. A 2% charge added for the “hardworking kitchen staff.” This surcharge was added without the option to opt out. If the owners want to reward the “hardworking kitchen staff” they can pay an appropriate salary not expect customers to supplement their wages. I informed the waiter that the required 2% was deducted from his tip.
Understand that both my wife and I were waiters and bartenders for most of our young lives so we are fully cognizant that tipping is the primary source of income for the staff.
Alfred, our server, was fabulous!
Server was very friendly, however we had to ask him about specials. We also had to ask for condiments.
Most of food was tasty, especially the smashed potatoes. Only complaints: fish used for fish and chips was dry, and lime and coconut sorbet was super tart.
The ambience was very pleasant.
Food was fresh and delicious. Service was wonderful, and we had a great time.
I noted we were celebrating a birthday on the reservation. The host asked who’s birthday it was when we checked in however, after that it was never acknowledged. Seated right by kitchen, it was too close to sink and not pleasant to see things being dropped and water being splashed. We may have had a better experience if seated elsewhere.
We loved our dinner here. Great place for whole family. Casual, comfortable atmosphere with outstanding food and service. Our waiter, Tyson was great helped make the evening more enjoyable. The lobster pot pie was delicious. Everyone (especially my daughter) enjoyed the welcome toast - prosecco and sparkling juice for the kids. Thanks for a great night!
Poke was amazing!
We really enjoy Merriman’s. We first fell in love on the big island in Waimea. If we are on an island with a Merriman’s, we make sure to eat there!
Excellent food preparation just as in the Big Island location. If there is a Merriman's near you on the island where you are staying you should try it for a nice dinner.
Have dined at Merriman's several times now for lunch, dinner, and happy hour and each time our experience was very enjoyable. The service and food are excellent.
Our server, Karina was excellent...attentive, efficient, and patient. The fresh fish for the day was perfectly prepared with a delicious sauce and paired with polenta and green beans. We ate every bite!
The skillet chicken was amazing. Basket of breads great! The Ribeye was 'prepared' as a New York, which is a bit like saying--well, you get the idea. We went with the filet instead and it was just OK, but then there's a lot of competition in that realm in town. The vegetable sides were quite good.
I guess our main complaints were that it was a bit too busy, loud and chaotic, with café style seating and table setting. But it's beautiful inside, with towering windows and high ceilings and conscientious service and management. They obviously paid a handsome sum to open the place--and the freight must be frightening.
The wine list is a little narrow, odd, and obviously a looked-to source of revenue. But when they cut 5 glasses from a bottle, at $15 each, for a wine I can find for $20, it makes me just want to order a beer. I know it's a common thing, but I'm more of a believer in at least some wines being 'abordables'.
Food and service were both excellent.
The experience was fantastic and a lot of care was taken for friends out of town who brought their baby. The outside was quiet in comparison to the inside and was a peaceful and relaxing experience people watching.
Birthday date. Food and service excellent. A nearby table seemed to be having happy hour, very loud screeching and laughter, no regard for other diners. Be better if couple tables are farther away from party tables. We were unable to carry on a conversation.
フロントスタッフやウェイターがとても親切です 日本語メニューを選べました 母と伺ったので助かりました
Glad to see that Merriman's has added a vegetarian falafel! Getting to be better and better as a place vegetarians can easily go to with their meat and fish eating friends.
I took my wife out for her birthday. The waitress Rena was terrific! She surprise my wife with the birthday cakes at the end of the meal.
Delicious & fresh foods. Fabulous menu choices! Great playlist! Excellent wait service!
The food was delicious and the service was very nice.
My family and I were visiting from the Big Island and we decide to dine at Merrimans. Merrimans on the Big Island is one of our favorite places to go. This was an incredible experience. Our server Tim was extremely attentive and provided impeccable service. The manager Cody came by to ensure we were having a wonderful time. The food was incredible! So fresh and delicious! I enjoyed the duo, with the scallops and seared ahi steak. One family member enjoyed the lamb, while the other has the aged steak. Every bite was amazing. We are definitely looking forward to our next trip!
We always enjoy dining at Merriman's for lunch at the Ward Anaha location.
Our waitress Karina provided excellent and courteous service.
All of our food items came out promptly and correctly. The only slight draw back was the
portion sizes for the higher prices seem a little small for local Hawaii people.
Every restaurant staff were friendly and helpful.
The restaurant on Tuesday afternoon was moderately busy.
You have the option of sitting in doors or out doors at Merriman's; Almost everyone choose indoors.
We greatly appreciate the restaurant providing a complimentary dessert for my friend who was
celebrating her Birthday. This made her happy and motivated me to purchase Coffee and additional desserts.
Free parking next door by TJ Max/Nordstrom Rack is another plus with this restaurant location.
The best dinner we’ve had in a dozen trips to Honolulu. We are looking forward to returning. The live music Monday night by Grammy acclaimed classical guitarist was an unexpected treat. The Monday special luau medley dinner was spectacular.
Alfred was awesome and the luau platter tasty. Great meal as always and the complimentary perseco is always welcoming.
Very good service
Wonderful selections! Great food. Great service and ambience. Will definitely go back!
