Shared meal for 4 was awesome! Would recommend because everything was delicious!
Excellent staff, great food, fun atmosphere. Love music every night. Singer was great with kids.
The staff was very out of sorts, felt like they were rushing us out of there, it was overpriced, the food was subpar, and when we had questions on our bill, the manager was very rude. I will never go back.
My wife and I visited Merriman’s during our trip to Poipu and had a delightful meal.
We shared the special appetizer, my wife had the fish special and I had the steak special with half a lobster. The food was very good and cooked t perfection. Our server was fantastic, very attentive and funny. We would definitely go back next time we are in Poipu.
Love this place! Fresh farm to market food. Amazing catch of the day fresh fish menu items.
Merriman's was fine for our party of three. If I wasn't comparing it to other expensive restaurants in Hawaii I'd give it more than three stars. But compared with others, including Merriman's on Maui, there were too many things that weren't great. Here are a few: in a classic move to get us out the door, our bill came seconds after our desserts. The bill had an unannounced 2% kitchen service fee. The tomato on the $17 salad was simply not good ("don't feel rushed"). The Rhone by the glass was below average. The seafood in the seafood pasta, except for the shrimp, was low quality. The special appetizer (fried fish) was soggy. All that said, our server was nice, the ambiance was good, my snapper was good, and we had a very nice evening. But compared with the competition, not recommended.
What a beautiful restaurant, with fabulous staff, and a commitment to local ingredients. Aubrey was our server, she knew the menu inside and out, and was so charming. The food was beautiful: we had seared ahi and the lobster. The special starter of the day was “french gnocchi”, amaziing.
From the hostess to the waitress to the food A+
Great as usual
A very pleasant experience. The food was good but not quite tuned to our taste. I would not order sea bass again. Erick is a very accomplished waiter. Prices seemed a little high.
The most delicious food I think I have ever had. We started with the oysters and the crab cakes. Portions are small but every bite packs a huge flavorful punch. We then shared the beet salad and got a bottle of wine. The sommelier came and talked to us about the wine because they actually did not have the bottle we wanted. He recommended another bottle that would go well with dinner. I had the macadamia nut crusted white fish (forgot the actual name) but it was so amazing. I have not had anything better truly. We finished the night off with dessert and it was the perfect amount of food and wine. I am not going to lie, when you look at the prices, it hurts however once you have had your meal it is 100% worth it. I would do it again anytime, any price. Absolutely the best food!!!! Also service was fantastic, so so professional but personable.
Great waiter (Eric), cocktails (old fashioned with ginger and vanilla). The view from our table, fantastic, and fish special divine. Saved the singer’s business card, voice like an angel. Such a lovely experience.
Waiter was terrific and the food was delish!
Was really disappointed in the enchilada after the server recommended the dish.
Fantastic location with beautiful views of ocean and mountains - great at sunset. Fabulous food and even better service.
No short ribs! Couldn’t be at Merriam’s. Service great. Food selection could have been better.
Views were incredible. Sunset was breathtaking and we saw whales which was amazing. Camille was an awesome server and food was fabulous.
One of our favorite restaurants and it does not disappoint. Loved the Monchong.
Haven’t had a bad meal at any of the Merriman’s and this was no exception. Every time we come to Kauai we make a pilgrimage to this Merriman’s. Started with a Caesar salad and their simple green salad. Both nicely done. The fried green tomatoes are always good. Love the locally grown greens. I ordered the wok seared ahi which was fabulous. My husband had the tempura which was very good as well. We split the malasadas as a finish with coffee. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. Nice evening overall.
Outstanding service and quintessential farm to table culinary experience. Everything’s pretty much spot on with the GM actively working the room and making sure all is running smoothly. Servers are informed and service is caring. Book ahead and don’t miss out on this high point of Kauai.
We had the best dinner , service and ambience at merriman's fish house. The only comment I would have or suggestion is put a cabernet by the glass on the menu that does not cost a minimum of $38. I know you can do a nice glass of cabernet for $16-$20. Thanks
Amazing food, service and views - so glad we went there for dinner
As always, Merriman’s restaurants deliver exactly what one expects. Food was fantastic! Crab and lobster cakes — YUM! Dessert was so good our daughter barely shared a bite.
With our reservation, we special requested a table on the railing to better enjoy the sunset and they even came through on that as the perfect end to our stay with the whole family together. Gotta eat at Peter’s restaurants when you are on the Islands!! That’s all there is too it!
Always the highlight of every trip to Kauai. Jarod always takes the best care of us. We tried the tasting menu ($75 pp). Worth every penny. And DO NOT forget the MaiTai.
The views were beautiful. I was disappointed with the food. I had the special, the Mahi was good but the shrimp was over cooked and the rice was undercooked. Loved the live music, nice diner ambiance.
Excellent attention to detail, the freshest ingredients imaginatively prepared. Highly recommend.
Such a beautiful setting!! Food was delicious!
Upscale dining overlooking the Pacific. Had reservations at 6pm and watched the sun set into the Pacific at 6:45. Great seafood.
The food was excellent. We were seated on the outside lanai which was absolutely delightful and not noisy at all. By far the best food we had on Kauai!
Went for our 31st Wedding Anniversary. It was fabulous.
Last year we visited their restaurant on the Bjg Island. Featured some of the same items. What was lacking this time was service. We felt ignored as our waiter would spend way too much time in the kitchen
The food is beautifully served, the drinks creative and the wait staff attentive. This is one of our favorite restaurants. They did not disapoint this year.
Jared our server was amazing. I don’t eat dish and he recommended the kapachi and I loved it!! What a great setting and we’ll be back.
Fabulous experience. Beautiful ocean view per request. Food and service first rate. We highly recommend and will return.
The view was amazing at sunset with whales breaching in the background.
Cool vibe- great ambiance, open , airy dining space, live music. We arrived early, drink at the bar good, pricey as expected. Seated on the lanai so away from the music and atmosphere. Romantic for sure. Server arrived promptly, very personable, gave good suggestions- then we never saw him after ordering. We had ordered a veggie side that never came with the food runner guy and no one came back until we had finished eating! Being on the lanai put us off to the side but still check on us! Had to wave frantically to get the check. Can’t blame being busy either. Food quality excellent, so the only downer was poor service. But that was enough to really disappoint us. So go, newlyweds on the lanai, otherwise sit in the main dining area. At least easier to tackle your server there!
The moment we walked in the restaurant was alone with live music and attentive wait staff.
The salad and steamed clams appetizer were good. However my wife’s Macadamia crusted Kampachi entree was almost tasteless and quite expensive. This was definitely not up to Merriman,s standards on the Big Island.
Dinner at Merriman's is always phenomenal and service impeccable. The fresh fish, the pupils, the main course and of the desserts. Located on the second floor provided a beautiful sunset to watch. Wonderful evening!
The fish dishes and cocktails were great. The beef was tough and gristly.
