We enjoyed our dinner here, however, my fish was overcooked and dry but the lobster was delicious. The coconut soup was outstanding. I think the Ahi Tuna Wok fried was average. So it's a little hit or miss. The atmosphere is great and the waitstaff was great. But It didn't hit my top 3 on the island. Still, I think you have to try if you are in Kauai.

Excellent food and service, too many clouds but still a decent sunset. Fresh fish selection and preparation was maybe best on the island we had over 10 days.

Jessic was awesome. It was a special birthday and the staff made sure that the birthday girl felt special. Champagne and special dessert, with amazing wine and food. We couldn’t stop talking about to. Highly recommended!

Everything was great. The food and service were special. The only drawback was we were there during a farmers market and music from the market was fighting with the music from the restaurant... but that’s a small thing.

They struggle to honor reservation times. We arrived slightly earlier of our res (5mins) were asked to wait for 20 mins even though 2 tables were open. Once we were seated, we were sat at one of the tables open for 20 mins. No clear reason why they made us wait. For the quality and quantity of food, it’s really really over priced. Bread was not brought to the table until nearly the end of the meal (?? Bizarre). Took us and several other tables a good 15-20 mins before we could get the check. They are right next to The Eating House.....100x better...we ate there twice. Would never waste any more money here.

I requested a table on the deck over a month ago. They made it very clear they do not honor seating requests as I was directed to a table by the bar. Really? I was disappointed by the food, and lack of hospitality. I cancelled my reservation for a future meal.

The food is consistently good. The service was attentive. I’m never disappointed. It was my birthday and o was surprised with a yummy lilikoi mousse. I was able to get two different fishes and split which was nice. I couldn’t decide between the two.

The food was mediocre; I couldn’t taste his shrimp-very bland and mushy. The steamed clams were good but my mahi was also bland and mushy. It was very busy that night and noisy so perhaps they were off their game.

There was a party of 12 beside us who let their 2-3 year old child run rampant. She kept running around the table and yelling. NOT A SINGLE PARENT AT THE TABLE TRIED TO STOP HER! She eventually ran into another child and now we have screaming, crying and yelling! One parent did take her away and when she returned she started running and yelling again. I asked the manager to speak to the parents and he refused.

So I paid over $200 for some drinks, some bland, tasteless food and a nightmare of a child out of control. I would never go there again and I recommend you stay away as well.

We had to try Merriman's on Kauai, after enjoying the one on the Big Island for almost 20 years. It did not disappoint! Food was great, location and setting are wonderful, server was a pleasure, and we had a yummy mai tai to start it all off!
We were surprised at the level of detail that our server took to find out about us even before we arrived! Thanks to OpenTable, he knew my preference was for a nice chardonnay, while my husband enjoys a Pinot Noir while eating there.
Fantastic, all around! We will be back on the Big Island more often than Kauai, but will always make time to eat at Merriman's wherever we are.
Thank you for being an ongoing part of our family vacations!

Only negative was that we ended up too close to the live music. Hard to hear one another. Although I’m sure we could’ve been moved had we asked.

Service was excellent and food was good. Restaurant was very nicely decorated and comfortable. Our table did wobble. The quantity of food was very small and price very high. My Ahi plate looked like an appetizer for $39. Our bill was $125 for two with just salads and entrees; so we were starved and went to another establishment for dessert.

Every dish was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Best Mai tai we had on all Kauai. We were in Kauai for 2 weeks and tried Mai Tai's every place we went and Merriman's was by the best! Waiter was vey personable and nice with very good recommnedations.

Staff were extremely friendly, all acknowledged the birthday boy and say Happy Birthday to him. The manager even brought him a birthday cake herself and the performer sang a birthday song, super attentive! The birthday boy had a blast!

We were celebrating a good friend’s upcoming wedding and we were the last group of the night to be seated - party of 8 at 8:46pm. Our friends come to Poipu 8-10 times a year as they have ongoing business here. We could tell the staff had a long night as they were noticeably tired. Waiter and bus boy were hurried and just going through the motions with no smiles or hospitality.

Steaks (NY) were ordered and were very gamey tasting. We later found out that it is local beef (cow), as it was listed on the menu. Now We know to order a other dish instead. I ordered the macadamias crusted fish- which was extremely dry.
My 4 year old daughter had bow tie marinara - which we found very spicy. We sent it back and asked for butter and Parmesan instead. After 20 minutes, still no pasta for my little one. So I said just cancel it and the waiter said he would remove from the bill.
The bill came and of course it was still there. Had to ask him to him remove .
With the exceptional reviews, perhaps we just got the service staff and kitchen at a bad time? Overall not a Good experience.

This is one of my favorites in Kauai for a special meal out. We had Easter dinner here and everything was delicious. My favorites: their special mai-tai with lillikoi cream on top; fresh catch with Kauai shrimp (the polenta!), ceviche and for dessert. Hands down the pineapple bread pudding. It’s not a cheap meal but it’s worth it and memorable. I love sitting on the lanai. This place is a treasure.

I asked for a table with a view in a quiet area of the restaurant if possible and we got it. We also had a great server, Link. All four of us had fish and all meals were terrific. We're definitely going to go back to this restaurant before we leave Kauai.

Our overall dining experience was excellent. We especially enjoyed the warm and friendly service by our waitress Jessica as well as the rest of the staff. They each went out of their way to make sure that we had everything that we needed throughout the evening. Jessica was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and had great suggestions as to what courses would best fit our tastes. Thank you for a fun family evening!

In my opinion, unfortunately, this particular Merriman's continues to go down hill. Two orders of fresh fish, cold and overly salty. Two glasses of wine, two orders of fish and a split caesar for $200 (after tip)?? We had better food, honestly, on the airplane on the way home the next day.
Went twice this trip because we used to enjoy the restaurant and thought we had just come on a bad day before. We won't be back.

Another great evening at Merrimans! Been here several times, but the first time trying a few items that are now favorites - definitely try the no ka oi martini, kunana dairy chevre and strawberry salad, and lilikoi mousse! Kampachi and kalua pork quesadilla were delicious, as usual! Beautiful views and great service by Michael!

We love Merriman’s on Big Island and were looking forward to dining here but as exceptional as that location is, the Kauai one is a big disappointment. Not only the menu was very limited to begin with, they were out of the items that were on the menu. My steak was mediocre at best, my hubby’s fish was God -awful and reeked of old oil. We ended up finishing our dinner at a sushi place on a way to the hotel.

When you go to a place with such a reputation it is really hard to stomach fishy fish. That was to hard to overlook. Each night this trip I am dinning at great restaurants with quality food. I'm not looking at the price, but the experience. Sorry but I have to be truthful. Now maybe it was one old fish that is a rarity, but the strawberry and goat cheese salad had dry greens which was a little awkward too.

As usual excellent meal and service. I had the crab & lobster cakes. My hubby had the macadamia nut crusted fish
We shared the ahi poke which was a bit too dressed. They unfortunately did not have blue cheese stuffed olives for my
Ketel martini, so they whipped them up for me
Really wonderful food

Arrived at the restaurant early, with a reservation, it was suggested we sit at the bar. At the appointed time, diners were being sat ahead of my party. The server was essentially absent through most of the meal, taking the order, and bringing the check. He neglected to bring the wine a member of my party had ordered. I was soooo disappointed as I have eaten at Merriman's on the Big Island, and it was one of the best dining experiences of my life. I was hoping for the same here, and that just did not happen.

Best restaurant on Kauai! This time we celebrated our wedding anniversary. We were served right away with complimentary Prosecco and later their great lilliquois mousse.
As always, the Kushiro oysters were special and the fish special dinners cannot be bear anywhere on Kauai.

This is our second visit to Merriman’s. This visit was for my birthday. The open air dining area is stunning and if you time it right you can watch the sunset from here! Outstanding cocktails. The macadamia crusted kampachi is our favorite. The bone-in ribeye was just so-so sadly. Don’t leave without trying the chocolate purse for dessert.
