Merricks General Wine Store
Just love this place....reliably wonderful....the whole area has a very calming spirit about it....whether on your own or in a group you’re welcomed like friendly family ....
we had to move because our table in the dining room was next to the door which the waitress kept going through. very draughty. we were moved to the newer long bench table. The fish was the ends of the fish with neither of us having a middle piece
I was very disappointed with Merricks General Wine Store as it came highly recommended. There were three of us and all three of us were disappointed. We found the food quite "ordinary" and, in fact, the duck confit was very dry, so less than "ordinary". We also had a less than fabulous sardine (two tiny pieces) niçoise salade, quite small and plain, and a seafood pasta that was OK, not wonderful. Service was quite slow. We sat for a long time waiting for our orders to be taken and for the food to arrive.
Excellent service & a fantastic lunch. Would go back again.
Great place to catch up with friends for breakfast or lunch. Staff are very friendly and efficient, we did not have to wait very long for our coffees and breakfast even though it was very busy. We were not made to feel we had to leave once finished which was nice, unlike other places during the summer rush. The meal was lovely, though the breakfast menu is rather limited. It does get very noisy when the venue is close to being full, though there is the outside deck as an option.
Been to Merrick's General Wine Store many times and it never disappoint. It is one of out stop every time we go to the Mornington Peninsula region. The food is great. The staff are very friendly. I would highly recommend Merrick's General Wine Store to anyone who is into good food and produce.
Mark this as a "Coffee stop" only... food, while okay, was extremely overpriced for the quality and location.
Booked for my birthday, Merricks didn’t disappoint. Great, friendly service from our waitress, food was delightful. Quite noisy but not distracting. Loved browsing the shop on the way out. We like to eat out and this was by far one of the best places we have been to in a long time!!! We live on the doorstep so we will be back!
Fresh and delicious food, presented beautifully. An exceptional glass of local Shiraz added depth to the experience. I requested some additional olive oil and this was provided immediately. Staff were charming, from the wine bar to the restaurant and took the time to personalise our visit with a warm, brief chat. Thoroughly enjoyable across the board.
It was extremely busy when we went for lunch on Sunday, which is what you would expect down at Mornington Peninsula at that time of the year. Luckily we booked and were shown straight to our table. The food was excellent (lamb shoulder was one of the best I have had) and taking into consideration how busy they were, arrived fairly quickly. Very good wine knowledge and food matching. Coffee and cakes were both great too.
I always love coming to Merricks General Wine Store. It's consistently good. The staff are very warm, inviting and knowledgable.
Excellent food and setting. Fabulous selection of wines. Would be great to have a more extensive children’s menu.
Clean, fresh healthy food with sympathetic use of local produce. Down to earth helpful staff. You can have a quick bite or linger. Great for vegetarians. Don't trust a taxi to take you home when they say they will (you'll never see them!!).
Enjoyed the meal. The service was excellent and the restaurant is delightful. Will be back again.
Delicious breakfast in a beautiful setting. Great coffee and service. :)
Great food - I had an amazing eggplant dish for breakfast- wonderful flavours and they were happy to add a couple of poached eggs. Friendly staff though they were very busy. Food also came out in good time. Liked the coffee so much I bought some home!
A great place for a family get together. All enjoyed the excellent meal. Plus bonus wine tasting.
Duck main course was a bit dry but overall a pleasant experience
Great place, unpretentious. Suitable for families and couples alike.
We had a lovely lunch on Sunday great building, great food, great wine, great service we all thoroughly enjoyed lunch. The time went very quickly as we sat there for 3 hours !
Fabulous place for lunch we have our girls Christmas lunch there every year and it never disappoints
Good food. Good service. An excellent experience much appreciated by my English visitors
A pleasant dining experience! Good food and excellent service
Vibrant and enjoyable - outstanding service - definitely will be back
It was great and they accommodated our needs. We had brunch. It was really noisy as there were several big tables of people having a coffee. Would have preferred to maybe sit in the closed in veranda for a quieter time.
We had a lovely time at Merricks and the ambience was lovely however the breakfast menu, namely the Eggs Benedict left a lot to be desired. We were so excited to drive from Melbourne early in the morning to try the menu. Unfortunately Boston beans were not available that day and my husband opted for Eggs Benedict. As a famous staple breakfast item we expected better. Dry muffin, poor hollaindaise and quite insipid presentation.
I ordered the roti with haloumi, beetroot hummus and avocado- quite nice but needed a bit more crunch!
Coffee was great and service warm and friendly
Merricks General Store always lives up to its reputation for good casual food, friendly service and great wine list. We keep coming back as do many of their patrons.
The food is always absolutely scrumptious. Every time we have anyone visiting we always book Merricks General Store as we are guaranteed a beautiful meal. The service is exceptional with staff checking in to see if your ok with everything during your meal at appropriate times.
Great place for casual lunch with glass of wine or two. Always excellent service will def come again
excellent food, good service and a nice place for a sunday afternoon lunch.
We’ve been here quite a few times and have enjoyed it - usually v good food, nice setting, good service and an overall nice Sunday relaxing experience.
This time around it was ok but not as relaxing. They’ve crammed a lot more tables into the place, so levels of service aren’t quite as sharp (although still relatively ok). The worst part was the booming noise levels as everyone tries competing to have a conversation- historically that was never a problem. The servings have also got smaller and pricier so the value for money isn’t quite there. I do like the area however I’m sure there are other places nearby worth exploring.
Great ambiance and lovely surroundings, made extra special by the heritage old building and façade. The food was very well cooked and the wine list has a good selection of pinot noirs.
Not too crowded for a late lunch , on the way to family
I booked online and ticked the box that it was for a birthday. I brought a cake along but was told we couldn't have it there - fair enough, but would have been good to get this info from the website or booking site. I ticked the box for a birthday celebration but, because of no cake, it wasn't really made into a "special occasion" for my Mum. It was a bit noisy where we were seated (close to doorway between two dining areas) but the wait staff were very efficient and friendly and the food was lovely, albeit a bit pricey. Will go again but probably not for a special occasion.
We love this place, having our wedding here next year and have brought our family members here a few times now.
Always brilliant. Great food, great wine. Service is excellent and the flavours delish!
We were waiting for follow up service for most of the lunch which was disappointing
Excellent food and venue. Waited 40 mins between starter and main course. Wait staff could have been more attentive
Great food & nice environment
Friendly services , will recommend and come back again
