The hostess was extremely rude and rdeclined giving us a table , When there was a lot empty !!! We had two kids … who were hungry and tored , and had a later reservation. She fit people without reservation just in front of us … It was an awefull experience . I pleaded with manager who Also deffered to her / She stated She was the manager , falsele.. they finally let us Stay At the very end corner of the Raw bar and , Even ALL Raw bar chairs empty , they insisted to corner us ne-ar the wall and Even came to insist We do NOT Take other chairs . Why ??? We ATE and left and still were 6 empty 4 chair tableta NexT to us …. That We were declined. I stayed because kiddos were crying ….

Food was delicious, service was excellent. It's a large space and can be noisy- ask for a table in the back room, much quieter and out of the way of traffic. For the number of tables they have, the ladies' room should be 2 or 3 times the size they have. A ridiculously long line and no place to stand.

Amazing time celebrating a family member’s birthday. We were 10 people and they were able to accommodate last minute changes to our reservation adding on more people. We all loved everything we ordered and I was complimented multiple times for choosing this place.

We had been to the Mermaid in the East Village and I was looking forward to the Times Square venue. The Mermaid Oyster Bar is spacious, you don't feel like you are on top of other people. The food is wonderful. We had a variety of oysters as an appetizer. The oysters were wonderful. It was hard to choose from the array of appetizers -- we wanted to try the tuno crudo, the salmon tartar, the tuna carpaccio and so much more. We had the seared tuna as an entree and it was perfect - rare, with mushrooms and bok choy and a delicious sauce. My husband had a burgundy and I had a cocktail. We finished with key lime pie and espresso. This is a great restaurant for a theatre going crowd. I can't wait to go back again. Covid closed many of my favorite restaurants in the Theatre district and I'm so glad to be able to add the Mermaid Oyster Bar to my list of favorites.

I had a positive experience dining at this new branch of Mermaid. The food was very good and the space is lovely—including the bathrooms. My only criticism is the French fries were over cooked so they tasted dry with no texture. This accompanied the lobster roll. I told the front desk and they said I could mention this if I order fries on another visit.

We had an early pre-theater dinner here. Our waiter was attentive and did a great job of keeping things moving without our feeling rushed. The food was delicious though we all found some dishes to be a little salty. I will definitely come again if I need a place in the area.

There were six women in our party for lunch pris theatre. We all really liked the option of a $35 a person meal and therefore opted for the starter or salad and a large plate. The portions were generous and everyone enjoyed their choice. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. The theatre was across the street which was a huge plus. This will definitely be a plus in the future.

This is the third time I’ve been to the restaurant is the first time I was actually disappointed not many main choices on the menu are only three desserts. I think the choices were just so bad that if you were in the mood to eat what they had on on the menu you had a really struggle to figure out what it was which you felt like eating that was worth the value of what they were charging had the bok choy as a side for $19 too much ginger and way too much sodium. Sorry sorry to see the place don’t think we’ll go go back.

Excellent meal for a birthday dinner for my young adult son. A menu with something for everyone. The service was excellent also. The perfect pace, we didn’t feel rushed at all and the wait staff was very attentive without being intrusive. They even brought a dessert with a candle without me reminding them for a birthday song. There We’re a lot of seafood options and everything was fresh and delicious. I live in the NY area and my husband works on Broadway but we had never eaten here before. It was terrific. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I was always a big fan of the original Mermaid Inn but was concerned about this Time Square version. Fears were unfounded — the food remained delicious, the service crisp and friendly, and importantly for a Times Square place, the food came out ridiculously quickly without sacrificing flavor or comfort. Also a well-designed place that can serve lots of people at once. Great job!

This was our second night in NYC and I had researched this restaurant based on the exceptional rating. I made reservations prior so we can plan a meal before our Broadway show. We were seated promptly. The restaurant was busy but not overly crowded when we arrived at 5:00 pm. The server was quick to take our order because it was happy hour. We got a variety of happy hour specials and I would definitely recommend arriving prior to 5:30 to take advantage. We were able to get a dozen oysters for $12!!! They were fresh too! We also tried a small cup of the clam chowder. It isn't big but a great taster. We placed a few other orders: Shanghai spare ribs, yellowtail ceviche, Maine lobster, baby bok choy and the cornbread. The ribs had great flavor but were on the tough side. I would order it again but hope it would be more on the tender side. The baby bok choy had great flavors and was a great accompaniment to the ribs. It was steamed I think and could have been cooked a bit longer but was still good enough to eat. The ceviche was delicious. Probably my favorite thing of the night. The cornbread was sweet. Not my thing but no complaints. The Maine lobster was displayed fantastic. It was great lobster but I will say the presentation made it!! Towards the end of the night the service was falling apart. Our server, though super nice, forgot our drinks! We had to ask 3 times. It could have been the backed up bar or he could have just forgot. I don't know ‍ If the start of service hadn't been good and the food being a highlight, the end of the dinner would have brought my review down to a 3 star.

Delicious!! Very courteous service. Lively but not obnoxiously loud. Great place for seafood. My partner had the fried chicken. Delicious! Please add bread pudding (without raisins) to the menu! :)

The oysters here are SOOOO good and I am picky! It’s the only place I’ll eat oysters right now. I haven’t found a better spot to dine before or after the theater. The food never disappoints, (the grilled lobster and cioppino were amazing last week). My tween loves the burger and fries. We love the candle lit ambience, the sleek coastal decor- everything feels clean and well kept. The service is fabulous- we have never had anything but a great experience here. We hope Mermaid keeps thriving so we can keep enjoying it! This place is just so reliable and such a delight! Can’t recommend it highly enough!

This restaurant never disappoints. In every way, it's one of my favorite places in the city for pre-theatre dinner, dinner with large groups, for business lunch, for special occasions, and simply for excellent meals. The service is always great, the ambiance is wonderful, the location is a midtown dream, but it's the food that keeps me coming back. High quality ingredients, beautifully prepared and presented, and always oh-so delicious and satisfying. They must have top-of-the-line chef and cooks because they work their magic so that each time our meals are just as delectable as the last!

We picked the Oyster Bar for its proximity to a concert at MSG. Even though we are not fans of Oysters, we knew the menu was diverse. We ordered hamburgers, which were tasty. If you are a fan of skinny French Fries (not the steak variety) then you are in for a treat. They were the best French Fries EVER! Yea, I know, it is a seafood place, but based on our experience and the people around us, we assume the seafood is just as tasty. The staff was efficient, courteous and professional.

If you need a nice pre-theater restaurant, especially if you're going to Town Hall, this is a winner. You're not going to have quiet conversation, but you are going to have a wonderful dinner. The menu has something for everyone and the service is fabulous. I don't eat oysters or clams, but the surrounding tables were ordering towers and plates filled with fresh, inviting-looking seafood. There were "oohs" and "ahhh" every time the servers brought our plates--especially when my Surf and Turf came out on a wooden platter. Perfection!!! Can't wait to return to the Mermaid Oyster Bar!

It is always a struggle to find a good restaurant in the Theater District. If you like seafood, and are willing to pay for quality, this restaurant fits the bill. The oysters are fresh, delicious and served on a traditionl platter of shaved ice. There were seveal seafood specials the night we visited. We had the cod with panko served on Spanish. Cod can be very dry and is not my favorite seafood but Mermaid did a great job. The fish came out hot and not overcooked. The panko was flavorful. Another in our party had sea bass with lobster sauce. Again the dish was beautifully presented, cooked perfectly and served hot. We had 5:45 reservations for an 8:00 show and this allowed an unhurried, relaxed dinner. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. Will go again!
