Mermaid Oyster Bar is a family of casually sophisticated seafood restaurants born in New York in 2003.

Starting out in Manhattan’s East Village as a spot-on rendition of a casual New England fish shack, The Mermaid Inn has morphed into an American seafood brasserie, replete with style, hospitality and a menu marked by bold and seasonally inspired cuisine. The Mermaid Inn has been designed to evoke the feeling of being on a mini vacation in a small seaside village.

I like the Mermaid restaurants downtown but this particular location is very noisy when busy which was the case when I had dinner there last night. My linguini was clams was spicy which was unusual for the dish and I didn’t enjoy that. Even the dressing for the house salad was disappointing. The service was very good, though!

We went to Mermaid Oyster bar before a Broadway show. We ordered the fish tacos, linguine and clams, and the Gouda mac & cheese, and everyone loved their meal! The portion sizes were great, and the food came out very quickly despite how busy it was. Our server assured us that they know how to handle the pre-show rush and she was right! We will definitely come back k to have a more leisurely meal because it is a beautiful space, has excellent service, and great food (the raw bar looked fantastic.

We had a wonderful waiter, Charles H. Very gracious, prompt service, always checking on us and food quality. Great experience!

Great range of oysters. Hush puppies were very good, not too greasy. Cocktails very reasonably priced for midtown. Server was knowledgeable but seemed a little stretched thin at pre-theatre dinner time. Food came out quickly, we had plenty of time to catch our show.

The food was really poor quality. I ordered fish tacos which were very dry. My friend ordered a chicken salad and the chicken was really overcooked.

the waiting time has been quite long whereas the restaurant was not full. moreover, albeit the guests who have ordered the lobster rolls where satisfied, the ones who ordered the burger have been disappointed, having asked for rare and having served well done.
