Meriwether's Ratings and Reviews
Our First and Last Visit, Our food was ok once we FINALLY gotten it, Which we had waited over an 1hr for. Our server seemed to be more concerned with the needs of those at the table next to us, seeing as though that's where most of his time was spent Even though we were seated first.
The Sea Bass special was outstanding after a tasty house salad. The atmosphere is cozy, country with enough space between tables that you can enjoy a great conversation over dinner without others over hearing. We will definitely come back here again. Valet parking is available.
Awesome as usual at Meriwether's. Food is excellent and the service is even better. A super comfortable atmosphere with personable smiling waitstaff...my family meets there every year to celebrate Dad and it's always a happy gathering thanks to Meriwether's effort. Cannot imagine this annual luncheon anywhere else:)
The booth seating was quiet and cozy for this special occasion. Donna was our server. Good wine selections by the glass or the bottle. Reasonably priced as well.
You will love the teacup bread that comes individually with each meal as well as the honey butter.
High recommendations for the squash soup - a seasonal favorite! It’s slightly sweet, a bit savory and garnished with a dollop of goat cheese.
Meriwether’s is in drastic need of a makeover and upgrade. Dark and dingy, it feels stuck in the 1980s. The food was OK at best with the steak very good, a lovely soup special but the lobster tail so, so over cooked. Wait staff were positive and attentive which was probably the best thing to be said. Probably a restaurant living on past glories..
Meriwether's is always inviting, classy and the food is truly amazing! Service is wonderful and the atmosphere is historic, unique and cozy. We are planning more business gatherings there and many plan to revisit with family (come back with their significant others).
Two couples came for lunch after burying a dear relative at a nearby cemetery. Mary was our server, and her service was spectacular. She had no idea why we were there or where we had just been, yet she was kind, respectful, and professional! Top notch! Thank you, Mary, and thank you, Merriweather's, for offering a diversity of food (soup, salad, sandwich, and pasta) to satisfy all of us at s sad time!
I had potato crusted whitefish at another Landry's restaurant which was amazing but here it was hash browns piled on the fish. Wine wasn't served until after the soup when we inquired about it and instead of apologizing, the server told us she wanted us to have food first.
The food was pretty good. We had the Potato Encrusted Whitefish and Coconut Shrimp. There was actually enough shrimp! Both of our green beans were cold though. The drinks were good too.
There service wasn't quite as good. The hostess seated us across the room right next to the server station even though it wasn't crowded at all. We eventually moved when a booth opened up. It was more comfortable but the was a little dirty.
Ordered the Brie appetizer, but didn't get it until after we received our dinner. The server said she hadn't realized that they had made it with the entree, which makes no sense. Maybe she would have if she had ever stopped to check on us before then. I wanted a drink, but she didn't come back. It wasn't very busy and she'd gone to the table next to us several times but walked by us so fast we couldn't catch her.
I haven't been to Meriwether's in at least 20 years and still looks pretty much the same. It could use a little freshening up.
I have not been to this restaurant in over 20 years. The tea cup bread was always the biggest draw. They still serve it and it did not disappoint! The entrees however, were so-so. The encrusted white fish was nothing more then hash browns on top of thin white fish. The clam chowder was outstanding! The crab cakes were sub par. The atmosphere made up for it!
We went on a Sunday afternoon for our anniversary. There were only a dozen or so people in the place. The appetizer recommendation was spot on. We had the early special and a glas of wine. Both were very good! My wife had the prime rib and I had the white fish. Both very good and well prepared. Had a mix up with the bill, but the eventually got worked out.
Would we go back again? We may. We have an affinity to Meriwether's. It is an institution and we have had a lot of great meals there.
Meriwether's is a great restaurant. They know what's important -- FOOD! Everything we ate was outstanding. It was the best blackened fish I've had in years. My husband loved his roasted vegetables. The drinks were good, too. They have local beers, etc. The bathrooms are upscale and nice. The decor is a little dated, but the service was stellar. We will be back again soon.
