We had a great breakfast. The food is farm to table and tasted fresh and well seasoned. Our server was attentive and paid just the right amount of attention.

Excellent food, as always. Wait time on our reservation was nearly 30 minutes, but that is not always in the restaurant's control.

I decided to celebrate my birthday at Meriwether’s after hearing a few reviews from people. My husband bought the deal from Costco and we made reservations (at 5:15 because they had no other times). When arriving I had a bad feeling because of the quiet, slow, and crammed tables but I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt. After we sat down our waiter took our orders and wasn’t really able to answer my questions. The menu was awful. I wanted to leave but we’d already bought the deal and got childcare. The menu was so bland, boring and something you could get at any chain restaurant but without the fun. So we ordered the $26 chicken and the $40 steak. When the meal came out it was so small and boring. The meat was covered in unrecognizable veggies, and I love veggies. It reminded me of a Hello Fresh meal you could make at home or a Whole Foods salad bar but much more expensive. My poor husbands steak was 3 small bites. Needless to say we were still so hungry after, and then we saw all these huge plates of burgers, fries, and pizzas being served next to us. We asked about this, and it turns out that you must ask for the bar menu!!? What! The manager came over and explained it to us, and only left his card. How does this help? The dinner was a waste of time and money, we couldn’t even use the remainder of the gift card for the tip. It was my birthday dinner (which they knew it was my birthday) but we didn’t get a candle, decor, or even a small dessert. We will keep our nice meals for Portland City Grill and I suggest you do the same!

Meriwether's has consistently been a lovely dining experience and every time I bring somebody there for the first time they are always favorably impressed.
The environment is warm and inviting, the staff professional, pleasant and skilled, and the food is GREAT.
In nice weather the garden seating is outstanding and conducive to fun brunches.

My husband and I ate at Meriwether's for our anniversary and loved everything about the experience. We started with small bites: Wrapped and stuffed dates, warmed olives, and cheese and almonds. Everything was delicious. Next we shared an amazing asparagus salad that included shaved and roasted asparagus. For our main courses I ordered the Dungeness crab risotto (such a delicate flavor and the risotto was perfectly cooked), and my husband ordered lamb chops. I'm not a fan of lamb but I loved his dish.

Everything we ate had complex interesting flavors that blended well together for a delicious taste. We enjoyed the glasses of wine we ordered and the restaurant provided a small taste of port for us to toast with at the finish of our meal. It went great with the rhubarb pie.

Prices are on the high side, but in our opinion well worth the expense. Compared to other fine dining restaurants in Portland, we believe the whole experience (food, atmosphere, service) here is superior to other places with comparable prices. We will definitely be back.

Went here for a 2nd time (first was around Christmas) and was expecting an updated menu and new selections given the restaurant has a farm. I was a bit disappointed to find the menu exactly the same, but it did offer a good selection across pasta, vegetarian, seafood, beef, pork and lamb, so there's something for everyone. Good service and food but a bit pricey. I'd probably wait to come back until summer when we could enjoy the outdoor seating or the holidays when it's decorated nicely and festive.

Normally I enjoy going to Meriwether's but Easter Brunch was not a good experience. The food was over-cooked and over-salted and the service was painfully slow. The bad service was not a result of being under-staffed as several times a waiter passed by our table... he just didn't tend to us. Very disappointing. I like the place (and space!) so much that I had my engagement party there a few years ago. It's gone significantly downhill.

My husband and I attended Easter brunch. From the time we sat down, ordered, and got our food... less than 30 minutes had gone by. We had just received our fruit and banana bread to start our brunch when our main entree was brought to the table. We just felt very rushed. It was a lovely restaurant but wish we could have relaxed a bit and spread out our meal.

Easter Brunch. Limited set menu $42.00 per person. Food was okay. Salmon omelet had a lot of cheese on one side, salmon on the other. Some food was cold. Waitress was a little patronizing (ex: asked what one particular dish was like and she read from the menus description - as if to say, if you read the description you would know). We were notified that we only had one hour to eat because a table had a reservation after us. This was a family occasion, we would have liked to stay longer and visit, especially with a cost of $42 per person. 20% gratuity included. We had a party of 5. Assuming tip, especially a tip of 20% is very presumptuous.

Biggest problem: called the day before to add 1 additional family member to our party. We were told they could not add an additional person without permission from management - they said they would check and give us a call back. We never received a call back. Instead, they sent a text message (sent to someone in the party other than me) so we were not called back and ended up having to leave the family member behind on Easter.

The food was definitely farm to table and tasty, but a bit overpriced. We went in to use a gift card and our waitress made us feel uncomfortable by handwriting on BOTH receipts the original total of our bill on our final bill (after our gift card had been applied). It was as if she was desperate for a larger tip. This isnt our first rodeo and we're courteous diners who always tip on the full amount. We found it insulting and unnecessary to handwrite on our receipts anything besides a "thanks!"

The food choice was limited but what we had was excellent. The venison and chicken was prepare very well 5 stars but the price was a little high for what you got. I expected a little more, but that was ok. I wouldn't do it again for the price. The waiter we had was very pleasant and enjoyed his service.

Very pleasant at 6 PM on a weekday. Lots of open tables. Friendly staff. Seated directly in front of the fireplace. Very charming historic building. Menu is a la carte, changed regularly, and excellent. Our dinner included turnip soup and focaccia, citrus salad, main course, and creme brulee. In honor of Lewis & Clark, I had venison, which was seared nicely & perhaps more rare than I'm used to but very nice. Wife's pork chop looked great. Maybe I'll try the leftover bit tonight. The creme brulee was creamy & cool with a warm caramel crust and almond "cookie". Presentation is everything, right?
The menu is online but not necessarily up to date. Wonderful place.

We began by having to choose between a table on the path to the kitchen or a table in the bar. They were setting up for a large group planned for later so many tables were not available. They sat two ladies at the only good table left. We ordered dinner (I ordered scallops and my wife ordered chicken). When they brought our food they brought my scallops and brought my wife mussels. She said she ordered chicken. The server had made a mistake with another table (that is what they said was the mixup). Anyway my wife and I shared the scallops until her chicken arrived. They obviously had to cook the chicken as it took quite a while to get it. We had almost finished the scallops when the chicken arrived. The waiter did not charge us for the deserts we ordered to compensate us for the mistake and delay. The unfortunate part is we were there to celebrate our 47th anniversary and this situation just kind of spoiled it. We didn’t get mad as what good would that have been we were just disappointed. It made a nice celebration just a little less exciting.

The perfect spot to celebrate our anniversary. The building is charming and historic, the wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly - the atmosphere was perfect; we sat by the fire. We were greeted with a "Happy Anniversary" and glasses of champagne as soon as we were seated. And, oh, yes! - the food was excellent! I also appreciated the available parking.

Meriwether’s never disappoints. The ambiance is lovely - intimate and warm, the service is great and no hovering, the food is unique and delicious. And, we got a double rainbow out the window on St Patrick’s Day. Not sure how they pulled that off but a nice bonus along with the fresh apple pie with caramel sauce and ice cream. Yum!

Date night on a cold & rainy Friday evening. Greeted by name at check in likely due to Open Table reservation and seated at a small table by their fireplace which was much appreciated - particularly by my spouse. Dining space was busy but not crowded - cozy and calm. Service was attentive but not hovering and food arrived at a reasonable pace. Had the flat iron steak, med-rare and have to say it was one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time. Kudos to the kitchen! Higher cost but food value matches it and is locally sourced. Thanks for a great evening out.
