Meritage an Urban Tavern at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa Ratings and Reviews
We had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant. I had a wedge salad, New York strip steak, and apple strudel for dessert. My wife had the meat loaf entree. Everything was delicious, well prepared, and fresh. Service was very friendly, attentive and prompt. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in a tasty dinner in a lovely location.
Lovely place with outdoor dining, but VERY loud inside. Over-priced at $50 + for a simple lunch. Probably a big hit with vacationing golfers. Right outside the Marriott Pro Shop. The food was tasty, the service was great. But I wouldn't recommend it for anything but a special occasion because of the prices, the abundant big-screen TVs and the noise level. It's really just another sports bar. Fantastic, if that's what you're looking for while visiting the area and/or golfing at the resort.
The trout and the meatloaf were both good dishes. Nice list of beer / ale and wines by the glass. Service was good, though I caught the the server pass by looking to see if I had signed the credit card slip shortly after it was presented to me. Too obvious she wanted to clear out. I would go back and eat there again.
$16 Avocado toast nicely prepared with fixings. Burger tasty but not worth $17. Service attentive with good beer selection. Was very loud for a date night, couldn't hear each other. Not very elegant for a 5 star hotel. Ok with the Groupon but probably would not go back.
We went for a bachelorette party dinner. The service was somewhat slow but there were other big parties there too. Our waiter was kind but he was strange and kind of hovered over us in an intrusive way or we couldn't find him when we needed him. They comped our drinks even though we didn't complain at all. It appeared he could sense that we weren't very please. It took a half hour to get our drinks from the bar. He had the manager check on us which was nice. And he had desserts sent over for the table and the bachelorette.
Was disappointed because it was pictured as a much nicer restaurant. It was very bar like as was the service. The appetizers were very small for the price. Not a lot of vegetarian options too. We had a few guests that were vegetarian and they had 1 option for dinner.
Great staff and the food was fine. We were there for a three-day conference and the first day, lunch took 50 minutes to arrive after we ordered--and we had reservations. The restaurant was slammed and the staff was terrific. Management should have antipated that a conference with 1600 people would flood the restaurant at lunch. We had dinner there three straight nights and loved it.
We had requested a table for 4 adults and 2 children in high chairs. The hostess tried to seat us at a high table claiming no other tables were available. Fortunately a server let her know it was totally unacceptable and found us a suitable table. The food was good except for a pesto that came with the bread service. It was the flavor and texture of ground up herbs, not a pesto. Both the scallops and pork chop entrée were very creative and flavorful.
The Meritage is a nice spot at the J. W. Marriott. Our group enjoyed the meal. The Octopus was great, as was my steak. Rest of our group also had good meals. The atmosphere was also nice, allowing us to have good conversation, without having to speak so loud.
Despite the somewhat ridiculous name, we had a terrific Sunday brunch at Meritage an Urban Tavern. The avocado toast was fantastic, and the service was attentive, but not hovering. My friend and I spent nearly two hours catching up over brunch, and while the restaurant wasn't all that busy, we were never rushed.
This restaurant used to be a great steak house. It is now sort of a sports bar with upscale prices and food. Meritage is not sure what it wants to be. Guinea Hen as a specialty on Valentine's Day? We went for a nice dining experience and ended up ordering off the Happy Hour menu. Not quite what we expected. We have been there several times, but won't return.
