Meritage an Urban Tavern at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa Ratings and Reviews
We were looking forward to our Thanksgiving dinner here, but were extremely disappointed. The turkey was dry and bland, the stuffing was mushy and had a terrible flavor, green beans were hard and not properly cooked. We didn't even bother with dessert. We wonder if they even tasted their own food. Service was excellent. If you are eating at this hotel, Roy's is an excellent choice, but not Meritage.
Tyler was the best server. Great attitude, attention to detail and made it a point to ensure that we were happy and had a great experience. Will go back for sure.
This place used to be an upscale steakhouse that had really good food and service. The adjusted to a lower key ambience and I think they hit a home run. This is a great place for drinks and watching sports after golf but also a great restaurant for the family and a great atmosphere. Love it.
We had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant. I had a wedge salad, New York strip steak, and apple strudel for dessert. My wife had the meat loaf entree. Everything was delicious, well prepared, and fresh. Service was very friendly, attentive and prompt. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in a tasty dinner in a lovely location.
Lovely place with outdoor dining, but VERY loud inside. Over-priced at $50 + for a simple lunch. Probably a big hit with vacationing golfers. Right outside the Marriott Pro Shop. The food was tasty, the service was great. But I wouldn't recommend it for anything but a special occasion because of the prices, the abundant big-screen TVs and the noise level. It's really just another sports bar. Fantastic, if that's what you're looking for while visiting the area and/or golfing at the resort.
The trout and the meatloaf were both good dishes. Nice list of beer / ale and wines by the glass. Service was good, though I caught the the server pass by looking to see if I had signed the credit card slip shortly after it was presented to me. Too obvious she wanted to clear out. I would go back and eat there again.
$16 Avocado toast nicely prepared with fixings. Burger tasty but not worth $17. Service attentive with good beer selection. Was very loud for a date night, couldn't hear each other. Not very elegant for a 5 star hotel. Ok with the Groupon but probably would not go back.
We went for a bachelorette party dinner. The service was somewhat slow but there were other big parties there too. Our waiter was kind but he was strange and kind of hovered over us in an intrusive way or we couldn't find him when we needed him. They comped our drinks even though we didn't complain at all. It appeared he could sense that we weren't very please. It took a half hour to get our drinks from the bar. He had the manager check on us which was nice. And he had desserts sent over for the table and the bachelorette.
Was disappointed because it was pictured as a much nicer restaurant. It was very bar like as was the service. The appetizers were very small for the price. Not a lot of vegetarian options too. We had a few guests that were vegetarian and they had 1 option for dinner.
Great staff and the food was fine. We were there for a three-day conference and the first day, lunch took 50 minutes to arrive after we ordered--and we had reservations. The restaurant was slammed and the staff was terrific. Management should have antipated that a conference with 1600 people would flood the restaurant at lunch. We had dinner there three straight nights and loved it.
We had requested a table for 4 adults and 2 children in high chairs. The hostess tried to seat us at a high table claiming no other tables were available. Fortunately a server let her know it was totally unacceptable and found us a suitable table. The food was good except for a pesto that came with the bread service. It was the flavor and texture of ground up herbs, not a pesto. Both the scallops and pork chop entrée were very creative and flavorful.
The Meritage is a nice spot at the J. W. Marriott. Our group enjoyed the meal. The Octopus was great, as was my steak. Rest of our group also had good meals. The atmosphere was also nice, allowing us to have good conversation, without having to speak so loud.
