We had a T’day dinner here. The service was outstanding. But the first special turkey dinner was served cold. It was returned & brought back hot shortly.
I had the beef short rib and it was very moist and tender. They served it with a sweet corn polenta and blackberry chutney that was really wonderful. I am going back to enjoy this meal again. I am also going to purchase a couple of these to-go, and leave them at my home when my mother house sits for me.
we had dinner here last week. service was pretty good. food was very good and there was a lot of it. we had the hummus apptzr-enough for 4 people ( only 2 of us)
I had the pork chop-very tasty and a lot of veggies included. my better half had one of the vegeterian dishes. prices are moderate. wine is pricey. we took our glasses out to the fire pit to finish. a good choice if you are on site.
Really nice food in an rustic lodge sports bar environment. Staying in hotel and very convenient with a bit of a premium pricing for the convenience.
The food was good and nice terrace, however, the service was really slow on one of the days. We were there for a conference and the staff was probably overwhelmed with the number of people coming over for lunch. However, we had to wait more than an hour to get some salads...
This was something of a last minute choice. We had originally intended to to dine at a Scottsdale restaurant, but as the day went on, we just didn’t feel like more time in the car. We checked out the options at the resort, and Meritage was perfect. Casual (it’s the 19th hole for the golf course) but sophisticated decor and menu. My husband had the trout and I enjoyed the scallops with black rice. Both were delicious. The waitstaff was friendly and the atmosphere laid back. We had a great time and definitely recommend it. They also have very nice outdoor seating.
Tasty filet and interesting desserts too. Burgers and salads were also tasty and presented nicely! Thanks
This is basically a hotel restaurant. For special dining experience, go out of the hotel premise.
We were a party of 9 there for a late lunch (and a reunion). This was no problem for the hostess. Everyone was friendly, the food was excellent, and (as seniors), we were able to chat freely and hear each other well. The server, Jose, was very accommodating. I forgot to apply my MVC discount, and he re-did my bill happily.
We were so impressed with Laurie at Meritage at the JW Marriott in Phoenix that we cancelled another reservation in order to go back & have her wait on us again. We had asked her to pick a wine based on our taste & WOW did she deliver. The Austin Hope she chose was perfect. And then the scallops! And the split Caesar's salad. What a perfect 2 night's dinners! Consider us impressed.
Our server, Laurie, was phenomenal! She made the perfect wine selection for us. And then food choices! The chicken veggie soup was dee-lish. Scallops were fabulous! But, again, LAURIE! She was confident, knowledgeable & a great personality!
Beautiful. Service was below average. The food was amazing and so was the setting. The server was negligent. Brought a bottle of beer, open, no glass. Left the other guest at the table without her drink. Then didn’t come back for 10 minutes. Had to be called back to the table and acted surprised that we needed something. Without her, the experience was perfect!
As always, food is excellent.
Love this place - we live nearby and come here for the food and atmosphere.
Nice updated menus and attentive service in this urban gastro pub. Shrimp and grits and scallops are superb
Food was cool and under seasoned. Service was sparse. Seemed management was focused on the events on the terraces with only 1 server for the nine tables inside the restaurant. There was plenty of staff but no organization steering the ship.
As always food was delicious!
We ate dinner at this restaurant with our daughter while we were staying at the JW Marriott.......we were pleasantly surprised how good it was!
Ordered the Ribeye. It was cooked a little more than I had ordered, but overall it was good. The vegetables on the side were very good. Atmosphere was relaxed and plenty of TVs. Good number of beer choices. A solid choice if you feel like staying in the hotel.
We accidentally arrived on a night when you could not order from the menu- it was a bbq buffet only. Due to a pop up storm- we chose to stay and eat. Food was good and would have been better if we hadn’t been thinking steak all day! Attentive staff, clean, quiet with good cocktails
Wonderful waitress Monday 8/19/19!! Celebrating our anniversary ..... she was AWESOME! Wish I would have written down her name !
Meatloaf was spot on and delicious - great service.
When we first arrived we were greeted and sat immediately as it looked like there were very few customers in the restaurant. The server arrived at our table approx 12 mins after we sat. He seemed flustered and unorganized. I believe there was a larger golf party that was most likely consuming more of his time. He also mentioned to us that he just got back from a month long vacation and was unfamiliar with menu items. As soon as we were served our drinks 25 mins later we quickly ordered our food as we didn't think he would be able to come back to assist us as the dining room was now getting busier. We where there for a graduation event which had approx 3000 attendees. I would have imagined the property would have staffed up for this occasion but our server was the only one on the floor. I quickly started seeing a floor supervisor taking orders and then the bartender came out from behind the bar to take orders. This place looked like a S**T show at this point and being in the industry that is never good. I then noticed many other tables just sitting and not getting serviced and the server had to apologize over and over. Meanwhile the host is still seating people (she should have not). All in all this was not a pleasant experience as I also asked our server for a couple of items that never made it to the table and the server never remembered or acknowledged forgetting about bringing it to me. We then quickly closed out our tab and left. I would not recommend this property based on my experience on Saturday. I also wanted to note that there was a busser who was not very friendly and seemed to also hate his job based on how he bussed our table and just his overall facial expressions.
We came here for my wife's birthday since we were staying at the resort. Not only did the staff make us feel unwelcome the food was beyond disgusting. I ordered the ribeye steak medium rare, my wife ordered the filet. Both steaks arrived burnt, over cooked and inedible. My ribeye was sitting in a pool of water from the side veggies. The manager came over and asked to recook the steaks at that time we were sitting so long with our little ones that wasn't an option. Then came out the birthday cake for my wife, they misspelled her name on the cake after I had spelled it out for them on the phone. This poor quality, service and mistakes are not something I expect from staying at JW Marriott hotels.
The Meritage is one of our go-to places. The food is consistently good.
Wait staff and kitchen staff have no idea about how food is prepared or any of its ingredients. I am allergic to pepper and was told there was no pepper in the meatloaf. HUH! they don't have a clue.
Fabulous outdoor seating
Meritage is one of the reasons that we continue to book weekend getaways at this JW Marriott property. Every steak we’ve ordered here has been expertly prepared. Great wine selection to compliment our dinner. Love the new roasted vegetables on the side!
The only drawback was a large ‘family’ table seated close by that let their children run around (noisily) during our “romantic” dinner for two. I really wish the restaurant would “close” the lawn to children after 7pm. It amazes me that parents don’t realize their in a “restaurant” atmosphere even when they’re dining outside.
Good service and great food. Not an average tavern menu. Would recommend.
We enjoyed a late night Mother’s Day dinner at the Meritage. There weren’t very many families out at this time so it was a quiet evening. The food was brilliantly prepared and although a bit pricey, well worth the money for this special occasion.
The kale and beet salad had SO little beets on it - and what was there was chopped so small - VERY disappointing! I barely ate any of the salad but the server never checked if everything was ok.
The food was delicious. We sat outside by the fire and watched the sunset. Gorgeous. We were celebrating an early anniversary and my husbands birthday. The portions are super small - which is expected. The service was really not good. We had to ask four times for water refills. She took our drink order and didn’t come back to put in the appetizer for 20-25 min. We had a resort card that comped the appetizer but we were still charged for it after showing the card twice. The busser filled our waters and checked on us more than the waitress did. She brought us an incorrect bill with the room charges already made without asking and no option to pay with card. We had to walk it up front to make the changes. The host/manager was the only one dressed to recommended dress code. Everyone else was in T-shirt’s and jeans. We really expected a classier service based on description.
Saving grace was the ambience and delicious food. Probably won’t go back.
The staff was so friendly and personable! The hostess was very accommodating, as well as our waiter José Silva who sent us a thank you letter! I highly recommend Meritage and the peach cheesecake that is in the shape of a peach!
Perfect setting for dinner with conference associates. Great ambiance Food was good. Neat views.
Awful. Nothing was good, terrible service, over priced. We stayed at the hotel and really hoped this would be our favorite spot to dine. Overall bad experience and would never recommend this to anyone. Our bill was $750.00, and waited 1.5 hours for food to be served to our table. We were very embarrassed too because we were hosting our employees, left feeling mortified.
We enjoyed our meal here. Especially friendly to our grandchildren (who we brought with us, and their parents). They loved their meals and we like our as well. We ate outside and that was perfect. We will return to Meritage for sure.
The food was very good but the service was rushed. We had to tell them to slow down. They need to focus on pacing the meal service better.
Very good food although some dishes, like the crab cake, don’t give enough food for the price. Ambiance is very nice, not too sports bar, and the waiters are very attentive. I will be back soon.
Outstanding food and service. Jose was delightful.
