First Time Here
Lovely Pinot Grigio
Very Enjoyable Piano Music
Very Good Server
High Recommend The Merion
Nice place for a good dinner. The staff were attentive & the ambience was fine. We sat on the porch but I think it would have loud inside.
THE FOOD AND SERVICE WERE EXCELLENT AND WE ENJOYED THE PIANO MUSIC PLAYED BY DEAN SCHNEIDER WHO IS AN EXCELLENT PIANIST. THE MERION INN HAS A GREAT AMBIANCE.
There have recently been some negative reviews of this restaurant. All I can say is that my wife and I have dined at the Merion Inne regularly for over 20 years and the service, food and ambiance have always been superb, including our most recent evening.
The Merion Inn is one of our “must visits” when in Cape May, excellent food, service and atmosphere
Stuffed lobster was excellent.
Amazing evening- incredible food, great service and lovely pianist that happily took requests!
As good as there is in Cape May proper. An annual stop.....have never been disappointed
Had a wonderful meal again as we have in years past.
Great cocktails from a great bartender. Food was nicely presented and delicious. Overall excellent experience!
Dinner was excellent, I had the crab cakes and my husband had the classic surf and turf. Service was very good and the seat on the porch made the night.
We went for our 34th Anniversary and had the 10oz lobster tails. The meals were very good and dessert was excellent. When we got there we were entertained by a very good piano player. We have stopped in here for years and sit at the bar and enjoy the entertainment. The only annoying thing was there were a half dozen or so people eating dinner at the bar so the bartenders had their hands full and we had to wait awhile. There were several tables available but I guess these folks didn’t want to lose there seats at the bar because at 8:00 a bass player and drummer joined the pianist forming a really good jazz trio. It’s a really friendly place and we will continue to stop in whenever we get to Cape May.
Although it’s a most lovely atmosphere and all workers are very accommodating, the prices have gotten too high for the good you are served. The steak was over cooked and the lobster tail was dried out. Dessert was over priced once again for what you got.
Always a great meal. Great bar with a piano player sets the right mood
We go to dine there every year we are in Cape May
Great dinner in a charming Victorian Inn. We were seated promptly by a very nice hostess. The Merion Inn is a beautiful historic building and restaurant. Food was excellent. We will return soon.
This was my second time here, and it has been a real pleasure. Always busy so please make reservations.
Always great filet mignon and swordfish grilled. Our service was not the usual attentiveness we always experience but she was extremely busy and the restaurant was full. We realize the summer is different then offseason.
great waitress, delicious food, nice atmosphere , overall enjoyable experience for a dinner date
It was July 4th weekend so they were very busy. We were disappointed because our second experience here wasn't as great as our first in early June.
Wonderful service, atmosphere and outstanding food!
Restaurant needs a refresh in terms of decor. The service was great but food (vegetables and such) were smothered in butter and steak quality was ok. Hate to say it because we have so much history with the place but needs to up its game.
Amazing Place, food n staff very attentive, nice portions chowder was the best I’ve ever had .. def be back
Service got order wrong. Food overpriced for what you get won’t go back.
Went for early bird. Nice selection of dishes for the 29 dollar pre-fix menu. Aleathea’s portions are much bigger and only 25 dollars pre-fix menu. Bartender was nice and drinks were great. Table server refused to give us separate checks. That was not convenient as we were a table of 3. We split our own check and gave her 3 payment methods. With the technology today, she could have split the check 3 ways. Overall a nice dining experience. Will choose other places to go.
Hi Lisa, Thanks for your feedback, both positive and negative. Last Monday we got a new Point of Sale system. With this new system (and with the old one) a server can ABSOLUTELY split a check and use 3 different payment methods, no problem. Do you remember the name of your server? Clearly he or she needs more training on the new system, as well as a hospitality reminder to find a way to accommodate all reasonable requests from our guests! Best, Vicki
Absolutely one of the best meals I've had in awhile, great atmosphere, live piano player with soft music. Definitely recommend!
Grande old restaurant in Cape May. Located in downtown historic district, only a couple blocks from the beach.
Food was wonderful, service not so much
Love the piano player!
One of our favorite restaurants in Cape May! Besides the delicious food, the ambiance is warm, cozy and romantic! We had the Cape May Salts(Oysters), Chop Salad, New England Clam Chowder, Flounder Franchise, Grilled Swordfish, Merrion Inn Potato Cup and Green Beans with Carrots! Everything was perfect!! Piano playing! People singing! So fun!!
The food and facility was terrific but the waitress performed below expectations given the venue.
Food was ok, service was good at this old long standing CM restaurant. Worth a try.
The three course meal offering between 5 and 530 pm is a fantastic value. The soft piano music was very nice. The food was incredible and the service provided by Abby was perfect. You can not go wrong making a reservation at Merion. Reservations highly recommended.
The food was delicious as always and the live jazz music every night is excellent!
My wife and I have been going to the Merion Inn for our last night in Cape May for years. Once again, this year did not disappoint.
Love everything about this restaurant. Always is a warm & wonderful treat
Meals were great!!!! I had the salmon, husband the chicken. Next time I’m getting the chicken, it was so good!!! Wish I could make chicken like that!!!!
The Marion Inn has always provided a classic dining experience and it hasn’t changed. We had an early bird special with 3 courses and the value was terrific. Salmon over rice with spinach as the entree was delish! Loved the very generous wedge salad, too!
We have been here before and will come back again. In a town where there are many options, this is one of our favorites! You won't be disappointed.
We have dined at the Merion Inn on many occasions and always enjoyed it. The piano player is a real pleasure to listen to without drowning out our conversation and he graciously played a request for us which was wonderful.
I often get the Express dinner which is great, just the right amount of food and a good value, but this past time I ordered the scallops which were delicious.
The Merion Inn has been one of our favorite restaurants in Cape May for years. Always consistently terrific. The flounder with crab imperial is always my go to and I just love the Merion potato cup.
Keep up the good work.
