Seated promptly. Waiter was good. The rock shrimp tacos were tasteless-needed a sauce since they were dry, the Korean fried chicken wings were not chicken wings but drum sticks instead but tasty, Caesar salad was good, chargrilled Korean short ribs were almost inedible since there was so much gristle and very little meat, the Mexican corn and grilled asparagus were delicious. My husband ordered coffee and the server used a French press at the table, spilled the coffee as she poured it on his pants & apologized but the coffee cup had coffee grounds in it so undrinkable. Our waiter saw what happened and brought him a fresh cup but it too had coffee grounds floating in the coffee! We had king cake dulce de leche for dessert & it was very good. It was so noisy we could barely have a conversation. When they brought out the flaming sparklers & cotton candy for those tables celebrating, people would yell & scream so loud it was very unpleasant. Not an enjoyable or relaxing lunch.
Sister’s birthday. Great time.
I ate at the “food bar”, which faces the kitchen. What a great show! It was fascinating to watch the ballet that is a busy kitchen at dinner service. My waitress was perfect, my food was deicious and decadent. I enjoyed a mostly vegitarian meal (I did have the caviar deviled eggs). I left stuffed! My Old Fashioned Rum Punch was a perfect evening meal drink.
Meril was packed. The noise level was way too high.
My daughter and I had a wonderful time at Meril. We ordered the shrimp taco appitizer, the flat bread of the night, which was meatball, both of those were Amazing!
We also ordered the fish of the night which was grilled drum with crawfish cream sauce and it was not overpowering, just the right amount of sauce with a fried slice of girts, which was so different and delicious! Ordered a bottle of Rose, and it was a great night, can't wait to go back! We shared it all and it was perfect!
Excellent food, good service, good vibe, fairly noisy. Would recommend for large groups.
In a city full of loud restaurants, this is one of the noisiest. It must be on purpose. Not a place for romantic dinner.
Service was good and attentive all evening, but food only so-so. Salad over-dressed. Grilled fish served barely warm.
It was very cold in the dining room. Most guests left their coats on. We asked if the heat could be turned up and were told that it had just been turned on. It did warm up. The food was good and the service was a little slow at first but was better towards the end. Overall we would visit again.
Meril's has gone down in the world. It once had good value and great service, but this has changed. We had reservations, and the dining room was only about one third full, but we were kept standing around for 15 minutes for no obvious reason before being seated. Once seated, we had to keep our outside coats on, because it could not have been more than 60 degrees in the dining room. A man at the table next to ours ate with his gloves on! The food (grilled fish of the day and linguine with clams) was extremely salty to the point of being almost inedible. Service was polite but very slow.
Nice atmosphere and good food
Waitress didn’t check on us enough during our meal and secondly we had ordered a vegetable and I didn’t get it till our meal was completely finished and we were done eating
Great food and service. The happy hour from 4 to 6 is a good deal. The noise level is quite a bit up there but it did not bother us, just something to be aware of.
Best meal we had in the city. Highly recommend splitting plates to try as much as possible
The food tasted amazing! We were in and out in timely matter highly recommend
Arrived a bit early and sat at the bar and decided to eat there. Lovely black fettuccini with a delicate lemon sauce, delish! Loved the watermelon strawberry salad and Mexican street corn. Always enjoy the freshness of the food and how helpful the staff are.
Meril was very accommodating for my celiac needs. Our server knew the menu in detail, and went over what was gluten free, and what could be modified. Do not miss the brussel sprouts - amazing!
Everything was great! We ordered several plates and shared everything. The food and desserts were amazing! We were celebrating our 20 year anniversary. An added bonus they brought us homemade cotton candy!😍
Best meal we had in NOla! Fun atmosphere, buzzy but not too loud, upscale but not formal, great service, all of our food was delicious! Especially loved the Burrata salad and Fish special!
Fantastic! The food was excellent and the menu has so many choices for everyone. The artwork on the wall was fun to look at too.
Merils is ALWAYS good. Small plates, good food, friendly service
While I’ve always had amazing service, this past visit was lacking. From the start at the host stand where both myself and Mr Archie Manning were ignored by both hostess - not even the slightest eye contact, quick greeting or a smile. I was eventually seated (prior to my guests arrival) but was not approached by anyone from the service team until my guest arrived approximately 10min late. I could have easily ordered and began enjoying a cocktail in that time. Even a glass of flat, room temp water would have been appreciated.
Once the meal kicked off the food was on par, and excellent. Truly amazing. The server did forget the brussel sprouts, but we weren’t charged. Always annoying when servers don’t write down orders and inevitably forget something.
I will return and continue to recommend, the food is that good! Let’s button up the service though. It’s a shame that the littlest details keep me from offering the highest praise.
This was my second time...just happened upon it a couple of years ago! I could not wait to come back! We love our different dishes & the combinations! Definitely on my “must” dine at list for NOLA every visit!
Great vibe! Have gone for a group dinner or date night...it's great for both and everything in between!
Fantastic experience, thank you!
Great place! Fantastic food, staff and service! Thank you!
Awesome food, atmosphere and service, as always!
Amazing food and service but VERY loud.
Terrific food and service!
Absolutely amazing food & service!
One of our favorite places to go! The service is always great and the food and drinks are consistently outstanding! We love ordering many small plates and family style sharing. It’s a great option to have an early dinner with our small kids b/c I know that we can get quality cuisine and that the noise level will tolerate our girls if they get a little loud themselves.
Great service, casual atmosphere, shrimp creole was fantastic!
Birthday for my 16 year old. Excellent experience
We enjoyed our dinner here! The dishes are smaller portions, meant to be shared and I loved that! We were able to try several different things and didn’t feel wasteful. Each dish was delicious in its own right. The only downside was that the music made it awfully loud. We had to sit very close so as to not have to shout across the table at each other to be heard.
Everything was really good. The salad (which I can’t recall the name of but has a base of fried green tomatoes) was amazing! The only disappointing element were the deviled eggs. You can tell they are pre-made and held in a cooler. The filling is very basic and they are served too cold.
It was a perfect outing for a great group of friends! Can’t wait to return.
4 nights in NOLA, Meril was our favorite restaurant: strong menu, great food memories and friendly and helpful staff. Everything was just great.
The food was delicious and the small portions were perfect. We will come back next time we are in Nee Orleans!
Absolutely loved this restaurant will definitely go back & I highly recommend visiting it!
New Years eve
