Dirty paper menu
Wrong food served
Dirty plates never removed with an unhappy bartender
We went for lunch. The food was quite good, but came very slowly even though the restaurant was uncrowded. When we inquired about the status, we were met with a mild attitude, which I didn't understand at all, but it really dampened what was supposed to be a festive lunch.
We had a lovely experience in every way.
Birthday dinner was great as always. This is the BEST!
Wonderful food and experience - a top 10 all time dining experience!
Delicious food..small plates ..everything was good.
I have all of Mr. Lagasse’s books, and have watched everything since he hit Foodtv in the mid 90’s. At that time, I had moved away from New Orleans, the town I love so well, to Houston. I had learned some things and had recipes from Mom, and a cookbook from the Ursuline Nuns. It was Mr. Lagasse that made me even more excited about food.
Meril to be is a restaurant of love, just as Mr. Lagasse speaks of food of love. You see, our family had just lost our mother, and we went out to find something to make us smile a little, and celebrate my brother’s journey to becoming a deacon. Mr. Lagasse was there, with his family, and little did we know, he had just lost his mom as well. Mr. Lagasse sent over to our table what I believe were all of the desserts in the place, and in addition made time to take a photo with my father. I wish the timing were better for a photo as well, and brought all of my books, but I did want to further interrupt his time with his family.
The atmosphere was really nice and not stuffy - you can clearly see the kitchen at work, which adds a layer of excitement. The large open windows to the street bring in plenty of light. From the outside, it’s one of those places you just know you want to go in! The decor is light with pizzaz. Parking was no issue for our three cars. The bar is well arranged and sharp (but could use another staff member). I had the rum punch old fashioned, which hit it out of the park for me, and #31, which was good.
We had seven in our family, and tried almost everything. It was all delicious, served at the right temperature, and looked good. My favorites, in no order:
Fettuccini Nero, Fennel Rigatoni, upside down pineapple cornbread, truffle pasta chips, roasted Brussels sprouts and sweet potato, Korean short ribs, chorizo flatbread, cheese flatbread, key lime pie, pecan pie, and the biggest hit of for my daughter, the cotton candy with sparkler for my daughter. Ran out of space!
We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation. After checking in with a gentleman at the desk that didn’t make me feel welcome, my wife and I headed over to the bar area to wait and have a cocktail. After thirty minutes (and seeing several parties of two arrive and be seated immediately) I walked back over to the desk and talked to the hostess to see what the hold up was. She told me that our table was still occupied by the previous diners. Less than a minute later another couple entered, went to the desk and was escorted back to the dining area. My wife then went to speak to the hostess. The hostess told my wife the same thing she told me, the table they had assigned us was still occupied. The later arriving diners had been assigned tables that were available upon their arrival. I guess we were just unlucky.
My wife pointed out that there was a table nearby with a reserved sign on it that had been empty for about 10 minutes or so. After prodding from my wife, the hostess and manager who was now present agreed to seat us at this other table (lucky us). So, we get seated and are offered waters by the server. He then returned a few minutes later and said, rather curtly, if there was anything else we needed. We said, no, we were still looking over the menu.
After he walked away we both agreed that there was no way we were going to enjoy the dinner, nor did we want to give the restaurant any more of our money. At that point we decided to leave. My wife stopped by to tell the hostess that we were leaving. She sort of shrugged and did not offer any apology for the poor experience. The restaurant was very busy so they probably didn’t miss our money.
Awesome. Great food and quite a treat to have Emeril cooking while we were there! Can’t wait to go back!
Always a good time! Excellent food, service and drinks!
Great atmosphere and the food was amazing! We loved the Deviled Eggs and the Shrimp Tacos especially!
The food was amazing and the waiters were great. The noise level was a bit uncomfortable but we learned that many were celebrating medical school graduation with friends and family. All 5 of us agreed to return to this fabulous find.
Food was original and fresh and delicious. Service was spectacular.
It was a great dining experience. I will recommend it to my friends and family.
The tuna wraps were delicious and melt in your mouth! I loved the crab cake croquettes and shrimp tacos. The cocktails are awesome too!
Brunch before a play at the Saenger.
Enjoyed the lunch menu options at Meril, unafraid to pair different international cuisines here. The edamame salad was refreshing and light. The boudin tamale was flavorful. My friend ordered the Jumbo Gulf Shrimp for her first meal during our New Orleans visit and loved it. I had to return with my husband on our last evening to try the deep dish pecan pie for dessert!
Even the French press coffee (from French Truck) was superb!
The food was superb, service excellent but the noise level made our overall experience a disappointment.
We’ve eaten at the other Emeril restaurants and have other favorites. This is not a restaurant we would necessarily pick again. Advertised as a warehouse seafood restaurant that’s not really the vibe or menu. Heavy bass in the music, Lots of noise and a light seafood menu despite the decor. I had the house made shrimp pasta and while it was good I was not as impressed as I’d have expected. My wife did not like her grilled shrimp at all. The appetizers were fair. Service was excellent and lacked nothing.
The expectation was for the food to be tastier but it was bland and salty. Out of the 5 dishes we had only the chicken liver pâté stood out for its flavor.
Awesome...will def be back...beet pasta and pasta chips, cauliflower to die for😊
We had a lovely time! The service was excellent, the food was superb, and the ambiance was lovely. The waiter had a treat for us for our anniversary and then took a photo of us also. It was a great dining experience!
Excellent waitress who tended to my every particular need. She did an excellent job at describing the nuances of the flavors of the dishes and answering my specific culinary questions. In particular, the burrata salad and wagyu steak (medium rare) were outstanding.
We grabbed lunch here while in town for a conference and it was some of the best food I had the entire trip. We tried the meatball, rock shrimp tacos, Korean fried chicken, deviled eggs, and the croquettes for starters and literally everything was delicious. I then had the Korean short ribs and they were perfect—beautiful texture and flavor. Our server was a little slow at first but that improved over the course of our meal (or maybe we got happier because of the food and no longer noticed.) In short, I wish I had. Meril in my city. I would be eating there all the time!
The people were great! From the hostess to the waiters and wait staff - friendly and courteous. The only drawback is the noise level - hard to understand while talking across the table. But the food and rest of the experience made up for that. Thanks for a great dinner.
Delicious meal!! Love the smaller plates and wide variety of food options. Highly recommend!
My husband and I drove from our vacation in Biloxi to spend the day in New Orleans. We made reservations for dinner. We had been walking around touring the city for hours. We were hot and tired, and the staff welcomed us in an hour before our reservation time. The staff and servers were excellent. The food was delicious and we can’t find the choices of the menu in our home State or city. The chef even came out and spoke to us and asked us what we were ordering and gave us a few suggestions on his specialty’s.If we ever visit again we will definitely visit Merils again and highly recommend to everyone.
First time here but have eaten at other Emeric restaurants. Went for lunch - quiet. Had curried vegetable soup, shrimp tacos, and Korean short ribs with Mex street corn. All were excellent but far too much food for 1 person, especially at lunch. Tacos were loaded with flavorful shrimp. Large portion of short ribs- a little fatty but tasty. Menu had a lot of other interesting options that I will try on my next trip. Recommended!
The kitchen knows what it’s doing. Well prepared food with some amazing sauces. Our waiter was not up to par. Restaurant has high noise level. Maître d’ initially took us to a terrible table right next to the kitchen door. There are about three tables in that area that are truly unacceptable for the quality of the food and what the restaurant is trying to do.
Not my favorite of Emeril's four restaurants in New Orleans and its much more casual than the others. I was seated by the bar so it was very loud however the service was very good. The food was fine but a bit salty. The best part of my meal was dessert and the Pimms Cup cocktails.
Was looking so forward to eating here. Not one dish stood out, mediocre at best. Ordered 4 appetizers that were just ok and had the candied pork ribs for a entree and they were served burnt to a crisp. So very disappointing...the only really good thing was the green tea milkshake. Not going back anytime soon. However the manager was very accommodating, i just hope to see Meril improve in the future.
They failed to deliver my daughters flatbread until after we were completely done our meal. ‘Made up’ for it by providing two free drinks and removing flatbread. Overall I could see how it could’ve been a positive experience, but wasn’t thrilled how whole flatbread debacle played out. Not great for people with kids.
GREAT SERVICE AND MENU SELECTION. A NICE PLACE OUT OF THE FRENCH QUARTER WITH AN EASY UBER RIDE.
I brought my Best Friend here for her Birthday surprise, and it was absolutely delicious!!! Meril was an awesome experience!! I would recommend to all...
VERY disappointing. I have food restrictions and saw that they had a gluten free component and figured they would be able to be accommodating. However, it appears to me that they follow a scripted menu and are unable to be creative or think outside the box if needed. They were inattentive, we waited with a reservation to sit down for 25 minutes and then waited another 15 minutes at the table to even have our order taken. I ordered an appetizer and wasn't even told til dinner was brought that they weren't able to accommodate me. Also, the accouterments came 10 minutes before the fish. I wasn't even hungry by the time the overcooked fish came. It was also very very loud in general with horrible acoustics. I would not recommend this at all! It is trying to be trendy.
This a must visit every time I go to New Orleans. Everything is outstanding, from service to food! Wait staff was outstanding and very knowledgeable.
We took our 23 year old son and his three housemates to Meril when visiting in April and it was outstanding! The food was delectable (don't miss the flatbreads!) and the service was just right! We all had appetizers, two plates each and dessert, and there wasn't a crumb left! Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant!
