First time visiting this restaurant with my wife for a dinner date. The duck ordered came in a bowl which was impossible to cut using a fork and knife. The tables were also back to back to the person next to you. I personally would not recommend this restaurant and rate it as overpriced. There is also a "service fee" added to all tables which is considered a "house charge" for an unknown reason which I found incredibly disrespectful and uncalled for. This "service fee" on our check was $4.75 for our $180 total. Upon inquiring about it with another waiter on the way out, all he said was it's a house charge with no further explanation.
We were disappointed in our trip back here. The garlic bread loaf we previously enjoyed here was not “fresh” out of the oven, but partially reheated. I do really know what the duck dish was supposed to be, but the breast was a cold center and the fluid in the bowl took away from rather than added to my enjoyment. The calamari was a small serving augmented by deep fried veggies. My wife’s salmon was OK but not exceptional. For $160, I expect better!
We arrived early for a pre-show dinner. It was pretty quiet at first. By the time we left it was pretty noisy. We prefer the quiet so we were grateful we were in the early crowd. We had a great waiter. I ordered a seafood carbonera. It was quite good, but seemed pretty salty. I commented on that to the waiter. He quickly offered to get me something different. I graciously declined, explaining I had already eaten half of it, and was merely providing feedback. He explained that the salty flavor came from some of the ingredients. He then proceeded to comp us my cocktail and offered free desert. It's all about attitude. Because of our waiter's attitude, we both recommend this restaurant to others and will be back.
Food was incredible. Wine list had an incredibly low markup, just above a standard sales price
Excellent food and service. The salmon was over the top wonderful!
Had a rare Monday night dinner with 3 friends. There wasn’t much of a crowd, the service was excellent, the food was very good and overall we enjoyed it. They had an all you can eat crab special that 2 of us enjoyed. I would go back - especially if I was looking for nice place last minute.
We booked our reservation for Mother’s Day Brunch. I chose Mercy based on their online menu. However, when we got to the restaurant, they were only serving a buffet and no menu service. I saw nothing during the reservation process which indicated it was only a buffet. Very disappointing. I am not really a fan of buffets, especially for special occasions. They tend to be “mass produced” and this was no exception.
Side note - Mercy required a credit card to make a reservation and called me to confirm. Never any mention that it was only a buffet.
We arrived about 20-30 minutes ahead of our reservation time of 10:45. That was fine, because we wanted to have a cocktail at the bar first. However, we were told that there was no bartender on duty at the time! On Mother’s Day! So, they seated us instead. So much for strict reservations.
The buffet was extremely mediocre. I would describe it as slightly better than a typical hotel continental breakfast. It was basic - undercooked bacon, dry American potatoes, mass produced scrambled eggs, etc. There were some nice touches - oysters on the half shell and lox, in particular. My wife and daughters did really like the cookies at the end of the buffet. I suspect those were ordered from a local bakery rather than made on site.
The restaurant offered a “bottomless mimosa” for $14. It was fine, but it was served out of pitchers which tend to lose the carbonation of the champagne, resulting in a flat mimosa. I had a Bloody Mary. I wasn’t a fan of the mix, but I understand this is subjective.
Service was also mediocre. For a buffet, water and coffee service was slow. Water was served without ice and was lukewarm. They never warmed or refilled my coffee. Our dirty plates were never cleared.
When we got the bill, I had sticker shock. The buffet was $45/person. Nowhere in the whole process was the cost of the buffet conveyed. In my opinion, it was way, way overpriced. I won’t return.
Our table was a bit close to the next couple, and we would always prefer a booth, but can't complain at all about the food or service. Was a great first visit, and will recommend for special treats. The special menu for the show was awesome. The menu that went wrong.
Amazing theater menus. It is our go to place before the Orpheum. Great wait staff!!
While the server was nice, he was covering far too many tables. The food was just ok and expensive given what we received -$100 dinner for salmon, Caesar salad, fries a drink and a glass of wine. Flavor wise not anything special. While the menu said comfort food we were hopeful there would be proteins and vegetables. Seemed like everything was covered in heavy sauces; I ordered the Norwegian salmon with poached asparagus and tarragon potatoes with strawberry .......the plate cane - salmon was good (and nicely cooked) but it was placed upon fingerling potatoes covered in what appeared to be a Hollandaise type sauce, with six inch and a half slivers of asparagus and 3 half strawberries. We were interested in ordering dessert but by the time the server came back it was too late and we’d lost interest.
We were there for Happy Hour but were not given those menus. Had to ask. Also had reservations but that was shrugged off — find a bar seat — we found a bar table.
King Crab and regular was too dry. I hope that can improve
Good food. Friendly staff. The patio wasn't quite set up for service, so things were a little bumpy and the patio lacked some ambience -- but I am guessing that will improve in the days ahead.
Excellent prompt service. A+ food and appetizers. Will come back
The food just was ok but our service was amazing
Great mix of food on the menu, and everything we tried was delicious, including the cocktails.
Ambiance was great. We were only the only table (early birds)
Food came out in a timely manner. Lots to choose from on menu. Food was great. Scallops are recommended.
I requested a vegan/vegetarian menu for one of our guests and didn’t receive one, I followed up and our server said one entree was vegan.
I asked for a vodka martini and selection of vodka and the server said “we have a lot of vodka.” Not very helpful.
Great manattan!!! Nice decor!!!........................................................................thank you
We were seated in a dark corner behind a pillar and squeezed next to another table. The restaurant has some lovely areas to sit, but our reservation apparently didn’t manage to get us one of the better tables. We ordered wine and entrees and it took almost an hour for our food to come out. It was delicious and perfectly cooked.
Arrive early and descend to The Library for a drink and quiet conversation or a glass of wine and a game of chess. It's like the game room you would have if you didn't have kids! Then move up to the dining room for foodie delights prepared by some kitcheneers who really know what they are doing. Unpretentious and unforgettable. Mercy me!
Great food. Very prompt and friendly service. Casual atmosphere but quality too. A little pricey but not out line with downtown prices for quality of food. Hope to get back soon. Would like to check out the library bar room.
We went to Mercy for Easter brunch. At $45 per person, we were disappointed. The food was just okay, with mostly typical buffet offerings.
It took an hour between appetizers and entrees to be served. The place was dead - no excuse.
Our food was excellent, and our server was outstanding. We had a great experience here and would definitely come back. It's not a very intimate space and feels busy, which is fine if you're not looking for a quiet dinner. This is a great place to meet your friends for dinner. The bar downstairs has a wonderful feel to it and is a fun place for a before or after dinner drink.
Overall good experience. Very loud...poor acoustics.
Gets to be very crowded on event nights. Great food
Four of us ate at Mercy before attending a show at the Orpheum Theater. In fact, I think most people in the (very busy) restaurant were also attending the show. Despite this, our service was very good, as was the food. It's not easy for a restaurant to be slammed with a full house all at once, but the staff handled the situation quite well. Kudos. A word to the wise—if you are attending a show downtown, make the time of your dinner reservation as early as possible, and allow plenty of time to navigate downtown traffic so that you sit down at your table on time. It will increase the quality of your dining experience, and of your entire evening.
My boyfriend LOVES king crab legs so I treated him to the Monday night all-you-can-eat king crab dinner. When we arrived they informed us it would be a mix of king and snow crab which is a little disappointing as that was not what it said on our reservation but still completely understandable. Our first (and largest) round came out and it was all snow crab. We asked the server and he said it would be different on the next round, it was not. Then he informed us that they were all out of king. Again, disappointing as I wish he would have told us that at the beginning. At the end of the day our server was great, the drinks were very good as was the snow crab. But for a $220 dinner I wish that we could have gotten a few bits of the king crab we had come in for at the very beginning.
Food was tremendous. The prices were a little higher than we were expecting. Service was very good.
Went there for Sunday brunch. Was surprised there was no one there aside from one other large group celebrating a birthday. Was not aware it was a hotel restaurant but that’s what it is and you do get that vibe. Amazing interior and the person who served us was very kind; however, she was the only staff working so everything was a bit slow. Food was fine, nothing that we would order again. Probably won’t return for brunch but an evening cocktail would be nice as the ambiance is perfect for that.
It’s excellent!!! We love it!! We will come back next time.
We love sitting at the bar for dinner, the bar staff is awesome!
Delicious sea bass for dinner. Breakfast omelette with salad was perfect!
We visited Mercy early on a Friday evening and enjoyed a wonderful meal. I was surprised the restaurant wasn't busier but there had been a postponement of the Twins game that night which may have canceled some reservations. Because the restaurant was not busy yet, the noise level was quiet. Our waiter was well-versed on the menu and provided excellent recommendations. The lower-level library bar looks fun. Will have to return to try that.
Incredible food and great atmosphere. We came in with our son who is 6 and he loved it too!
Love Mercy. Excellent drinks list and great food.
The steak was tender and everything was good as far as the food and service are concerned. Unfortunately there was a table full of drunk, loud bachelorettes who were really obnoxious. We sat several tables away from them but they still disrupted our conversation multiple times.
The food was excellent and everyone enjoyed their meal. As usual be enjoyed the wine list, with both quality and exceptional value. If you go before 7:30 the restaurant is very noisy, but once the theater crowd heads out, pretty quiet. Overall ambiance is fair. We wanted to eat in the library and hand called in advance to arrange it. I was assured that this would not be a problem, but the hostess stated she know nothing about it and this seating was not an option. this was disappointing as I had taken special pains to get a quiet area to converse with out of town friends. I felt the hostess was not very interesting in helping. cost is overall a little high for the food, but the wines somewhat make up for this
Oysters, beef tartare, NY Strip and scallops were amazing. They did a great job getting a multi-course meal out proline to a nearby concert. Great service by Bailey!
Our server and her apprentice were awesome!
