Lively atmosphere without being too loud. Great space, excellent food and cocktails. Excellent service by our server Katie. A bit pricey but everything was very good.
Shrimp salad was superb! I will be returning to try more menu items!
Good service, good recommendations, great for business or friends lunch.
We decided to sit at the bar for dinner and the service from Lukas and Ambrose was spectacular. Dinner was delicious, and the oysters on the half shell were incredibly fresh. I would wholeheartedly recommend them. Seared scallops and crab fried rice were both excellent. We ventured downstairs to the Rathskeller for after dinner cocktails, which were mixed perfectly. Have to go back for more when the ice bar is open.
Amazing wine section and wonderful food. The decor was very unique also but the lights were a little bright for dinner.
We needed a "quick" meal, having only about 75 minutes to eat before a show at the Orpheum across the street. Our server knew what would work for timing and was excellent for suggestions. The pot roast was delightful, especially paired with the giant tator-tot.
My one criticism is that they report themselves to be leaders in the wine bottle movement - in that all of their bottles of wine are 50% off what you would find in other restaurants. That is completely false - we got a bottle of the Chateau Ste Michelle Riesling 2014 for $29 (so they are saying that other restaurants would have it listed for $58). Yet you can pick up a bottle of this exact wine at MGM Liquor, or Hy-vee Liquor, or even Total Wine for $17 tops. I know wine at restaurants are always double what you could get at the local liquor store, but my contention is just that they are falsely saying other restaurants want double what they want for a bottle, which is utterly preposterous. This is one of my favorite wines, and we eat out often - I've never seen a bottle over $30 anywhere. Just wish they had either 1) better truth in advertising or 2) actually cheaper bottles of wine (if we got it for, say $20-22, I'd likely not take any offense to the notion).
But I really loved our time and meal at Mercy, just the wine bottle price "promise" rubbed me the wrong way.
Had a great time. Was a little concerned about service after reading reviews but found it to be excellent. We started out downstairs in the cozy Library and then our hostess came and got us when our table was ready. Everyone was very happy with their meals. We had a 6:30 reservation and a 8:00 show time at the theater. We told our server that and she told us that she'd like to get the order going in about 5 minutes. She came back in 5 minutes and got our orders. we were finished with our meals at 7:45 without ever feeling rushed.
Went before the theater. Food was good but not memorable. Service was attentive and our server made some nice recommendations. Bathrooms are small and there was a line of 10 women waiting since diners were timed for the theater. Might want to change to unisex restrooms to move people through quicker.
This was a great spot for a pre-theater dinner - it's right across the street from the Orpheum! Not only was it a great location but the food was delicious and it has a good atmosphere. I would highly recommend for pre-theater or really just any time!
Waited for 15 minutes for our waitress to greet us. She was not particularly attentive. Offered dessert, but then rushed off. We had to flag her down to asks for coffee to go with our dessert. Food was good, not great and we had noisy people on either side of us. Not a great experience.
Had a great time.
Wonderful appetizers and handcrafted cocktails. We especially enjoyed the Old Granddad with ginger and deserare, which, I discovered, is a simple syrup. Our bartenders, besides serving a great cocktail, were very good sports. Also found out that the Meridian/Mercy Bar has a library bar downstairs and a private dining table in the kitchen. Will check those out during my next foray to Minneapolis.
Where's everybody? Atmosphere is a little off, lighting can be made better, made me feel like I was at a cafeteria. Also, smelling a whiff of fish/seafood from our corner table. Only redeeming thing is the service. Menu is just ok. Sorry guys.
I had the steak tartare to start. I was very disappointed with it. I also was told by my server that my starter and entree would be spaced out. My entree - the salmon, arrived about 3 minutes after I had received my starter. Poor timing with the kitchen. The salmon, however was delicious.
We were seated at table for 2 too close to other tables for 2, and diners next to us were loud/obnoxious. Would be nice to have more secluded/private tables for 2.
Excellent service, and a great atmosphere. We dined on the lower level where it was quiet and cozy.
Service was great! Food was awesome! Will definitely return.
We went to Mercy to celebrate our daughter's 16th birthday as this was her favorite restaurant. We had been here twice before and the food and service were both outstanding. This time however, the food was fine and the service was okay. The garlic bread is still excellent, although a bit different than the last 2 times we were here. We were told we couldn't get the chicken wings in the restaurant, only in the bar, but it is all the same kitchen? We asked nicely as it was a special occasion and the waitress was nice enough to comply with our request. The vegetarian plate was overfull with too many vegetables; some overcooked and definitely over salted. I asked for a piece of salmon on top and it was fine - again, quite salty. My daughter's filet was fine, my husband's scallops were good and our son and his friend split the chicken. The chicken must have been seared over a too hot flame as it tasted of charcoal in the spots where it was a bit burned. Desserts were delicious. We love Mercy for it's location and ambiance but wouldn't rush back for the food. It's a bit disappointing as we did love it so. Hope they can revamp some of the unevenness and get back on track.
Such a great experience. Our server Mackenzie was incredibly knowledgeable and his suggestions did not disappoint. The Brussels sprouts were phenomenal, so much flavor! The scallops and Chicken are also worth trying.
The ambiance was perfect for an intimate gathering of friends.
And the wine list! Great wines for amazing prices. Mercy did not disappoint, we will definitely be back again.
Terrific service. The server used language to describe the food that actually made sense and had good recommendations for drinks that would pair well. Loved the specials. The garlic bread made with cinnamon roll dough was awesome!
Very pleased with the service, and the food and drink selections. Will definitely be returning.
We ate at Mercy Bar before going to a show at the Brave New Workshop. The food and service were excellent. My fiance had a steak which was cooked perfectly and I had the salmon (also cooked perfectly). Service was very quick and attentive. Mercy is a good spot for great food if you are going to a show along Hennepin.
I really enjoyed the time, our waiter was exceptional and tried to make sure we all had what we needed especially with some dietary challenges. We celebrated a birthday and it was a perfect time. The food was excellent as well, the oysters are amazing, probably the best I have had in Minneapolis. Overall I would recommend friends and family to enjoy a cocktail and some really great food!
A mixed bag this time, but still a good place to go. We've been several times before. Menu is a little short, but tasty (and new since the last time I was here). Friends had steaks that were tasty and tender. I had the beer can chicken with dirty rice. Chicken was moist everywhere and very tasty. Hot sauce in the dirty rice was a great add. Service was a little slow, but I write that off to our server (Emily) getting several tables at once (including one of about 8 people) and being VERY friendly. Her recommendations were spot on. Noise level from the table of 8 was pretty annoying, but the room itself does not do much to help dampen the noise. Bar staff is friendly and cocktails are good too. Great place to go before the theatre, as almost all of them are within 2 blocks.
Fab food. So so service. Location is key for the theatres.
Excellent as usual, McKenzie was a great waiter!!!
Has a very nice time and the food was excellent. It was very easy to make reservations through Open Table.
Went to the restaurant at 7:30 on a Friday and the place was half empty. All of the people dining in the restaurant were sitting in the front half of the building but they placed my girlfriend and I, 7-8 tables away from the nearest customer. This kind of threw off my experience for the rest of the night. The Server was alright, although he very obviously new. The food actually was the most redeeming quality about the place. I had their salmon entree which was simple but quite delicious. I probably would have given this restaurant a higher rating if it wasn't for the price tag . If I am going to pay 30+ dollars for an entree I have pretty high expectations and frankly I was let down.
Good food but slow service
Outstanding service! The scallop entree we’d excellent.
Wait Staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, genuine and respectful of our time constraints. also - the very best Irish Coffee I've had in Minneapolis! The cerviche was amazing and dinners were reasonably portioned. The dinners were comfort food with a creative twist. Highly recommend - also great location to theaters.
Notable half-price bottles of wine, excellent food and service. We went ahead of a show at the Orpheum and received attentive and friendly service throughout. They had a list of several bottles of wine available at 1/2 price so we had a delightful Silver Oak Cab for about $80. The hummus appetizer is fantastic - ask for more crackers which they will quickly provide. I had the beer can chicken with dirty rice for dinner and it did not disappoint.
Food was outstanding! Service, excellent as always.
Great drinks and good food such as the beer chicken, pot roast, scallops.
Poor service, sat below the steps and someone cleaned above us, and windex feel on our heads and food. Disappointed, so much more potential to be great, gave me 10 percent off, but not worth a ruined mood.
We were pleasantly surprised at this place. Great dinner, great service, we couldn't have been more happy. The only disappointment was that more people weren't enjoying Mercy like we were. Really an excellent night. The Brussels sprouts were amazing!
Enjoyed the garlic bread, mixed green salad, salmon entrée, Saint M riesling to drink, and creme brulee for dessert. All were tops, and the garlic bread was the best I've ever tasted! Service was personalized and timely.
Mercy has been on our list for a while now, and I finally made reservations for my partner's birthday. Mercy did not disappoint!
We got the shrimp and octopus ceviche, salmon with sweet potato gnocchi, and duck breast with a confit leg. We both stole from each other's plates and loved every bite.
Fried horchata ice cream for dessert was way more than we had room for, but totally worth it.
