Awesome food...only complaint it wasn’t super hot in temp. But would come back!
We had dined at Mercy once before, we were going to a concert that night. We were seated on the main/street level, everything from the food to the service was wonderful. We decided to go to Mercy again for my husband’s birthday, December 7th. I made reservations 3 weeks in advance and noted that we were there celebrating a birthday. We were seated in the lower level, in an area which I will refer to as “conference room B”. I was very disappointed! Our reservations were for 7, by 8:00 the restaurant had almost entirely cleared out. Apparently, everyone else who was dining there, were attending a concert or show. So, for 3 hours, (we left the restaurant at 10:00) my husband and our 2 guests sat in conference room B, which has no ambiance, nothing, it’s basically a conference room. While the main/street level sat nearly empty, which does have ambiance, action, windows, people.
I must say, our food and service were wonderful!
My complaint is; where we were seated. What we were there for and the amount of time and money we were going to spend, I felt that we should have been seated in a much better area. If not the main level, the Library would have been great. My suggestion would be; seat people according to; how long they plan on being at your restaurant, why they are there.
The service was attentive and friendly. The ceviche we had as an appetizer was very good. The chocolate crème brule' was also very delicious and rich. For my main course, I got the lobster cioppino ; the both was very tasty but the lobster was overcooked beyond overcooked. Dry & tasteless. Most of the seafood in that dish was overcooked. If you are a restaurant known for seafood, you should cook seafood well.
We celebrated our Anniversary and enjoyed it very much. Emma our server was fun and prompt. Complimentary drink with dessert, food was good. Only downside was the young man at the bar, he ignored us completely when we sat at the bar waiting for our table. Brought my wine but my husband had to wait quite awhile for his scotch, not sure what his problem was but the rest of the evening was great!
Went for lunch. The hostess was the waitress and bartender and who know maybe the cook. There were 3 other parties at the restaurant for lunch at noon so it was completely dead. Even though no one was there, the dining room was dirty. Visible crumbs on the seating. The only saving grace was that the steak salad was actually decent. Hopefully it’s better for dinner.
Loved the unique menu offerings and most items we ordered were delicious. However, the arugula salad was so drenched in dressing, I could hardly eat it. It felt more like a sauce than dressing. The flavor was delightful, I just wish it would have been more balanced. I recommend the beets as a side and the shrimp and grits was a great dish for adults or kids.
We had another enjoyable visit to Mercy. Food was excellent, service solid as always. The only issue we had was with a dish that was heavy with Mushrooms but the description did not list mushrooms - my wife despises mushrooms so knowing that ahead of time would have been helpful. Otherwise we really enjoyed ourselves.
Noise level makes conversation difficult, especially with more than 2 people on the party. It seems the restaurant could help this a little by turning down or turning off the music as the restaurant fills. No one is listening to the recorded music, but everyone is trying to talk over it.
We enjoyed the time there. Very nice table in front of fire. Wife needs GF, and there were lots of options there.
Great time. We went after a show at the Orpheum which is directly across the street. We didn’t wait as we had reservations. The ambiance was amazing and our server was the best. Our crab cake (which I love and totally recommend) came out late and for that she gifted us some dessert chocolate wine- it was delicious. The seafood is awesome and fresh- oysters were on point. And banana bread pudding was great as well- wish it was hot- but still good. Don’t miss out and make sure this place is one you try!
If you enjoy a frenetic scene with an energetic level of noise, this is your scene. If you are looking for a cosy spot for quiet conversation with your spouse or significant other, I would go somewhere else. The food was fine, the service was friendly and timely, and the restaurant is located across the street from the theater, all positives. But my wife and I could hardly hear each other, so we did not dally over an extra glass of wine or desert.
Food was great. Ambiance amazing. Service excellent. Highly recommend for romantic evening out.
Wonderful choice pre theater dinner. Had a nice variety of food options, depending on how much food you wanted. Scallops were ok on corn. Would have preferred some different sauces and sides. Lobster roll had too much for the amount of lobster served. Salmon wraps were excellent. Overall service was excellent.
We frequently stop by before a show at the Orpheum. The servers are very good at timing our stay to provide enough time to make it to the show. The food combinations are unique and tasty. The servers are friendly and efficient. Highly recommend this place. NOTE: The 'library' downstairs is a hidden gem and a great place to relax for two while having a more intimate outing.
Great time with sons before concert. We each ordered something different. Every dish was outstanding. We’ll be going back 👍🏼
Fantastic waiter. Very good food. Having reservations at 7 pm was perfect for getting to an 8 pm show, mostly because the staff was aware of the shows along Hennepin and asked if and which show we were attending. Made for a perfect pre show dining experience
Really high quality, creative dishes.
We had a wonderful time. The Oysters and Halibut were amazing!
We stopped in for dinner before a show at the State Theater. The bar and main dining room were vibrant but we were seated in this back room in the basement all by ourselves. It had just snowed so we were a few minutes late for our reservation and I'm wondering if this had something to do with it. The ambiance was not as enjoyable as if we'd be seated by other people but our waitress was really attentive to us and our timeline to get to the show on time. We ordered the shrimp and grits and bolognese, both were fabulous!
We will be back!! Our first visit before a show at the Orpheum. Very creative menu...we both enjoyed the warm spinach salad, salmon and Banana bread pudding for dessert. You have to try the dessert!!!! Wonderful service. Can't wait to return.
Great apps and wine before the event at the State Theater.
We went 1.5 hours before a show that was next door and our server explained that during pretheatre evenings entrees would take at least 40 minutes from the time the order is placed. She told us we should only have apps. Mind you, the apps were great, but if you have 1.5 hours before a show I would expect that I could get an entree.
I had the Lobster roll and it was fantastic. The other two at my table had different entrees and we all loved what we ordered. The server was easily able to split our tabs appropriately . Good value Valet for $9
All was good except our wait time to get to the table (we had reservations) was 45 minutes and then it took forever for our waitress to bring our bill and you ran out of the bread pudding dessert! Reservation was for 7:15, we didn’t leave until 9:00.
The cooks are the only ones in the restaurant that know what they are doing. The food is great and the management sucks.
1. They took a credit card to reserve a table even though the restaurant was half full.
2. They have Open Table send you an email the day before just to make sure you'll arrive; again even though the restaurant was half full.
3. Apparently the waitress couldn't believe a woman would order a Filet Mignon on Thanksgiving and ordered something else for her instead.
4. The hostess had us seated by the fireplace, which was very nice.
5. The food was great, done to perfection.
Thanks for an awesome Thanksgiving dinner! Our server was very thorough and friendly, and one of the cooks came out from the kitchen to see how we were doing. We'll definitely be back.
Way overpriced. Went for the all you can eat King crab. Check ended up totaling almost 200 dollars. Crab was mediocre at best. Service was slow and inattentive.
Knowledgeable staff regarding the menu, made excellent suggestions for us. The food was extremely excellent, perfectly plated, sensibly sized and delectably delicious! Worth the money for sure.
Great highly recommend it
As frequent visitors to the orpheum across the street, we go to Mercy before almost every show. The food is always well prepared, the wine list is very reasonable, and they are cognizant that many of their diners are going to a show or other event in the neighborhood and make sure to pace the meal and present the check in time to get you to where you need to be. We've always had excellent service and will continue to be regular patrons.
Our waitress was Kristen and she was terrific...fun, offered opinions & guidance, made the night great!
Great before or after theater location. Lobster cioppino was awesome.
Nice atmosphere. Waitress was very knowledgeable and prompt. Food was excellent! A little pricey, but worth the splurge!
We were headed to see The Book of Mormon so we stopped in for brunch. Erica, our bartender and what appeared to be the only server in the bar area, did a wonderful job staying on top of everything. She even went as far as to have another server go downstairs to get me Worcestershire sauce. Definitely will return.
Sadly, I forgot my leftover ratatouille in the lobby of the theatre. Sad Panda!
Wine concept is the BOMB. Best list and prices. The transparency is hopefully a new industry trend!
We loved the restaurant and everything about it except we were there for my husband’s 40th birthday and they must not have read the notes in the reservation. They asked if he wanted a birthday cake or drink so he got a drink but then we were surprised he hen had to pay for it. I would think an upscale restaurant could afford to pay for a 40th birthday drink. Loved the Porron though and the food was great.
Great place to eat before a show. The French fries were a big surprise and a huge hit!
Great spot for dinner and a drink before a play at the Orpheum
Mercy is a wonderful spot for dinner. The service, food and wine list were all exceptional. We will absolutely be back!
The food was great and the service from the actual servers was great. What was not great was the misinformation that was given to me when I called. I called about two months prior to the actual day of the reservation to find out how much time would be needed before seeing a musical at the Orpheum. I was told two hours before showtime would be best. Our dinner reservation was at 4:30pm. However dinner wasn’t being served in the main dining room until 5pm. My husband and I felt like it was a ploy to get us to spend more money by having to wait in the bar area before the actual dining room was open. So word of caution, if you’re okay with sitting at the bar eating apps and drinks only before a play or musical by all means go between 3 and 6 for happy hour but for the actual dining room experience make the reservation at 5pm.
