We were tested so well at Mercy! We will be back.
We started with a happy hour drink and ceviche at the bar. Very fun bar and the drinks/food were great. Then we had a drink downstairs in the very cool library lounge. All that followed by the best dinner out I've had in a long time. The food, wine and service was exceptional. We shared some great oysters and we all chose seafood for our entrees. I highly recommend the scallops!
Great location across from Orpheum Theater. Split the scallops and caprese with a friend, both were divine. Friendly, welcoming service.
The restaurant is nice, but the menu is quite limited. Our server wasn't great - which didn't help the situation. My biggest pet peeve is when menu items don't list all items in a dish when it's 'not common' I.e. heirlooms tomato salad and including capers.... There's not much to share and the portions don't equal the cost. There's far better restaurants around that the food is worth the price. Glad I popped in, but not worth it for a second visit...
When we arrived it was fairly quite. We received service right away and our appetizers were out within 10 minutes. It started getting busy and much louder and the server was pulled in a million directions. It almost 45 minutes or so after that for the food to arrive. We then waited 15 minutes after we finished dinner before we were able to grab our waitress and order dessert and it took 35 minutes for the dessert to come out. We almost had to leave because we were running out of time. Our reservation for 2 was 5:45pm and we walked out of the restaurant at 7:45pm for our 8pm show. The server was knowledgeable and pleasant they just weren’t prepared to deal with the rush.
The fall menu has many different options that are all well-worth considering. It was very hard to decide what to dine on! The stinger the bar tender prepared was the best one my husband has ever had. The portions were sufficient to allow for another meal for us which was an added bonus. A very nice evening and we will continue to return for more indulgences.
Nice, but expensive. Great cocktails, hangar steak was very good also.
Dion at the bar was fantastic! He took tIme to talk about the menu before we ordered! He took time for us to talk throughout our entire time having dinner and drinks. We enjoy Mercy every time before attending the theater because of servers and bartenders like Dion!
First time for our party of 4. Food was just ok but felt is should have been way better for the prices. We each said we wouldn’t order our entrees again. It’s very noisy and there were too many staff just watching around aimlessly. Best part was the valet parking attendant who had our car waiting at the curb for our convenience when the show ended at the orpheum!
After a couple of visits that were not up to the usual Mercy standards, we returned to give it another chance. We were happy to find that things had returned to normal. Our server Katie was outstanding. She was attentive without being obtrusive. The food was great. Everything was perfect from the garlic bread to the desert. As usual, our wine was not only great but fairly priced. Jace made sure that things were done properly and stopped by several times to make sure. I am happy to report that Mercy is back on the top of the list of our favorite restaurants. You can't go wrong with dinner before a show at Mercy.
Excellent food that changes seasonally and outstanding service! Great place for dinner before attending a show at the Orpheum.
The food and service was wonderful. Scallops was amazing.
Nice food and nice atmosphere and perfectly located & timed to get to the show at the Orpheum.
We had a great pre-concert dinner. Katie, our server, was terrific!
Very expensive for mediocre food. The service was so-so
Maybe we went out of season but our all you can eat crab wasn't very good. we kept getting really cruddy pieces over and over again. our bill for 4 people was over 340. only one drink ordered. lame. first time was great this second time not so much.
What exceptional food! We asked for recommendations and got great food! The crab cake was outstanding! The heirloom tomato burrata was amazing and the BBQ carrots were a delight!
Amazing food. My boyfriend and I were just in the cities for a night and this was the perfect place to go. Unique, delicious food and great service.
Waited 10 minutes for server. There was no one in the restaurant and 4 of them were talking to each other! The lobster roll turned out to be chopped lobster salad with celery. About 3 tablespoons stuffed into a big piece of bread for $25.00! Should be upfront about what it was!
The food was incredible, unfortunately the service wasn't. We waited for cocktails, never received our appetizer, and one of the dinner items was sent out incomplete. Thankfully the incomplete dish was re-fired quickly, and the quality of dinner evened out the experience.
Food was good but not great. Staff could not be better.
Out for dinner before seeing Rent at the theater, great food and service. Got her again!
Slow service. Never got our dessert. Wine by the glass was skunked, tasted like it was opened for several days.
We specifically called out to our waiter that we had a food sensitivity and he even went and checked with the kitchen to ensure the meal would be safe. my husband ended up having an allergic reaction after the meal due to a nut allergy aggrivation. very frustrated that we still had issues even after specifically mentioning the issue and doing what we could to call it out.
Went to Mercy before a show at the Orpheum. My guest had a special request which we were told was very doable (no eggs or dairy). Got her order and the sandwich was spread with mayo which has eggs and the salad was covered in shredded cheese. My Niçoise salad had no tuna, which is disposed to be on the salad and is what makes it a Niçoise salad. The salad also looked very unappealing as it was just thrown on a plate with no garnish or appealing arrangement at all. Certainly not worthy of the price tag. We told our waitress who reordered our food but when we got the replacement sandwich it was spread with butter. Butter is a dairy product, isn’t it? She also said the chef yelled at her when she told him about the error and mentioned that it would be his last day. Good grief. The manager was very apologetic and gave us a gift certificate for another visit but the amount of the gift certificate was no where to be found on it and no number to call to check the balance. On the other hand, the salmon croquettes the other guest received looked good and she said they were good, but there was no salad or side with them so seemed over-priced for just the three croquettes and the sauce. Not a good experience.
We have eaten at Mercy several times. The food has been consistently good. However this time the food was so so at best. The meatloaf was barely warm and the scallops were pretty tasteless. The waiter also got our order wrong. We felt like the food does not justify the prices. We won’t be returning anytime soon.
Wonderful evening - we started at the bar with a glass of wine and crab cakes (exceptional) and then sat on the patio for dinner. Beautiful night and the patio is wonderful. You are separated from the road noise much better than at many downtown restaurants. I loved the seabass and my friend loved the beer can chicken. We had a fantastic bottle of wine at a good price. It is one of many reasons I enjoy Mercy - good wine selection for every price range. Our service was also amazing and they held our leftovers while we went to the theater.
Service was excellent! I was going to the performance across the street. They watched the time to make sure I had time to get to my seat without rushing. The food was excellent! I will be back!
This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Waited 30 mins to get our order taken, Waiter forgot order and came back 10 mins later to ask us what it was again. Waited another 45 minutes for our food that never came. Manager said she had no idea when it would arrive. We were going to the play so we had to leave and get concessions at the play. There was no apology whatsoever. Ive sent an email and a instagram message to the restaurant without a response. This lunch and play was for a birthday gift for my 75 year old mother.
I dine at Mercy every time I attend an Orpheum Theatre production. This Sunday the service was awful! I placed my order and 1 hour later my food arrived! They were short staffed and diners (and the lone waitress) suffered. Very disappointing.
Great food, and very nice outside patio. The steak to share was delicious. Will come back.
We have been to Mercy many times. One of our favorites. This was a total disappointment. First our waitress didn't know there was a special salad. I heard the waiter tell the next table and asked her. She had to go check. Then our warm garlic bread was not warm. We never got our salad. The ladies at the table next to us waited a very long time for their salads also. The couple at the table next to use ordered a desert to share. They brought out their sundae but no spoons. We ordered a ribeye from the 2 share menu. They brought 1 plate and sharp knife. We ordered it medium rare. It was cold. We were going to a show so didn't have time to send it back. My wife had told the waitress she wanted wine with dinner. Waitress said she would come bake. Never came back. Got no wine. A manager asked how a our meal was. He was shocked when I told him. He did comp our drinks and gave us a gift card to come back. We will try it again since we have had such good service in the past. Don't know if it was because we were seated on the patio instead of inside, but it shouldn't matter.
The food was amazing. We shared the caprese salad which was different from most caprese salads and it was the best I’ve ever had. Also shared the lobster gnocchi. Delicious! Mercy is now one of our top go-to restaurants.
Staff was exceptional making up for a lousy reservation system that books and confirms a reservation when there is no space. Staff turned 'im never coming back' into a very satisfying visit. Great old fashioned and sea bass and calamari.
Hubby had the meatloaf and loved it. I thought my two side items (soup and beet salad) were delicious. Nice wine list too.
Usually delicious and reliable as a pre-theater choice, our dinner was a bit disappointing. It was a culinary choice, but the sea bass, while delicious, was surrounded by black, unappetizing-looking grains with just a touch of vegetables. The biggest issue was our disappearing server and the fact that everyone one around us, who all arrived after us, received their food much earlier the we did and once again, we found ourselves rushing to pay our bill and get to the theater. Since this was only one time out of many good times at Mercy, I'll complain just a little. But it was disappointing and we just cancelled our upcoming reservation there for this weekend and chose another restaurant instead.
Took over an hour just to get the appetizer. When we finally received our food, we had to eat it within 10 minutes so we didn’t miss our event. We repeatedly asked and let them know about the time restraints (we even allotted 1.5 hours just to be safe). My girlfriend got sick because of how fast we had to eat. So disappointing!!
this place is going down hill from where it was a few months ago
The food was outstanding. Will be going back. Service was also great. Cocktails very good.
The beet salad was unique and amazing. The mussels were delicious! Salmon croquettes also amazing. Never had anything I didnt love here. Service is gracious and freindly.
