   Food is always spectacular! The rubbed Elk was fantastic. The lady singing at the piano is spot on. This our favorite place in Arlington.

   We had taken some clients to Mercury for lunch to celebrate. By the end of the meal my client felt uncomfortable because the server was rude to her. The hostess was kind and the employee refilling waters was kind, but the server was not. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. We’ve never been and wanted to give it a chance. I don’t normally leave reviews, but I’m doing it in hopes it can be corrected because the restaurant itself is gorgeous. The server was in such a rush even though the restaurant was practically empty. It was just our table and one other. She didn’t come back very often. We tried ordering drinks, but she took one drink order and darted away before the next person could state what they wanted. The steak sandwich tasted microwaved. The meat was not good. Mostly bread and SIX French fries. My client ordered fish tacos. The menu stated it came with spicy Cole slaw. Her plate came out with no Cole slaw, just fish on tortilla, but had like 8 spinach pieces on the side with balsamic vinaigrette on it. It took us time to get the server over but my client politely asked if it was supposed to come with slaw. The server says “Yeah we’re out of slaw. That’s why I brought you the lettuce with vinaigrette on the side. Does that just throw off your whole meal or something?” She was extremely passive aggressive. My client said “I hope it’s not because I look poor.” And tried to laugh it off. I see other reviews now about rude service. It’s a nice restaurant. Why would staff be unkind?

   Thank you for your review and I send my deepest apologize that this has happened while dining with us. I have reprimanded the server and explained that there is no room for rudeness on my staff. The coleslaw issue was my fault and she should have explained the issue in a more professsional manner to you.    Disappointed we could not order from the regular menu. The price fix at $85 per person ro4 3 courses in my opinion was on the high end. I eat out at fine dining restaurants and aside from the 9th floor view, there was nothing outstanding about our experience. We all (4 of us) ordered the petit filet with shrimp and we all ordered our steaks medium. Each of our steaks were cooked differently from rare to well done and were not seasoned at all. We had to ask for fresh ground black pepper for our salad/soup. They did not offer it for our steak. We did not send our steaks back as this restaurant seems it may be struggling a bit as there were not but about 6 tables filled, some with only 2 people. The mashed potatoes tasted out of a box, though the asparagus wrapped in prosciutto was good. The choices for dessert were sparse, only German Chocolate Cake and Limoncello Cake. Neither were memorable and we were told by the waitstaff the Limoncello was from The Cheesecake Factory. Unfortunately, there are other local restaurants that serve steaks locally that definitely rate a 4-5 with Mercury Chophouse a 2-3. The waitstaff was not outstanding either.

   Thank you for your review. I am sorry we did not live up to your expectations. Rest assured I have taken your concerns to both my Chef and Front of House Manager so that we can better ourselves. We always do special menus on holidays because this give us a chance to try new things and to make it special. I will work harder to improve our standards and service to our guest.    Ambience is the primary reason to dine at Mercury Chophouse. No restaurant in Arlington and few can compete. The view along with the delightful piano music create the perfect setting. The food is good….not outstanding. The salad was ridiculously small…even for fine dining. The lamb was superb along with the lemon dessert and the house bread. The service …oh my! Snooty service does not make a restaurant better!! My husband deduced he was inexperienced. Whatever the cause, our server did not live up to the standard of fine dining. The gentleman refilling our drinks was very pleasant and we would make our requests known to him. We may return, depending on the menu and occasion.

   The hostess wanted my party of 4 to be seated at a table set for 6, and said it gives us more “room”. She really wanted us to believe that… what she was simply attempting to do was rush our dinner for a follow on party of 6 reservation. There were many other tables of 4 empty. When asked if we could move to one of them, she said those had reservations… I replied, so do I. My sea bass dish was ordered “imperial”. When it arrived, just three shrimp were added, no lump crab meat, and that upcharge cost $20. We have eaten here many times and never once had been treated disrespectfully. We are not going back without some restitution.

   The food, was absolutely amazing. We ate here for my girlfriend’s birthday, and everything we got was amazing. Hill country shrimp, to the steaks with whipped potatoes, the drinks, all of it was better than expected. Rico was our server and he was great.

    Food was definitely not bad, but definitely un impressive and not memorable. For a restaurant on the 9th floor of a high rise building and nice setting, I expected much more. I don’t mind paying a premium price when needed, but Salt grass across the street would have been a better choice for the price of this trip.
