Merchants River House
Merchants River House serves moderately priced American Bistro fare. The expansive menu includes burgers, chicken, salads and steaks. In addition, there are seafood choices such as North Atlantic Salmon and Fish & Chips. Our Kid's Menu features kid-friendly choices such as mac & cheese, chicken fingers and penne pasta.
Everything went really well for our brunch:food, service ambiance. Thank you!
Very warm in restaurant, no conditioning and needs a bit of work, looks run down. Only 1 bathroom so a line was forming. Food was great though and service fast.
Great service, great food and drink, great view
The Drinks took 15 minutes + to come out. The food was great.
The staff was nice. The restaurant is pleasant. The food however was very mediocre and certainly not worth the prices charged.
We made reservation via your site. When we arrived there were at least 3 reserved tables under the umbrellas. They tried to sit us near the entrance to the nearby pool entrance without umbrella and located on the farthest corner of the restaurant. It was sunny and a hot day. When I asked for another table, they directed us to an unreserved table next to a cashier desk, pushcart and restaurant door entrance. I declined because it had the most foot traffic on the venue. They finally directed us to an unreserved table. What’s the point of having reserved a table. After ordering food my guests asked for butter to three different restaurant staff. We finally got the butter halfway on our meal. Perhaps the restaurant wanted a quick turnaround for increased revenue that they were attempting to pick our dishes when we are not finished eating yet. We left as soon as we can. People who were in the restaurant before us were still there. I’m a longtime resident of BPC and resides about half a mile from the restaurant. I will not come back to this restaurant and I don’t recommend this restaurant.
You pay for the location. The food is just food. Kitchen staff was hauling trash past our table numerous times and they were more concerned about clearing tables than helping customers. Waitress was nonplussed, Unexcited about serving us. She didn’t write down our order and got it wrong. Drinks where not what we ordered. It just a place. Nothing extraordinary.
Location was just right, food excellent, service excellent, but the A/C wasn’t so good and it was a very hot day, so that took something away from the experience.
Wife ordered the codfish. Very “run of the mill” frozen codfish. The cauliflower purée that came with it tasted better than the codfish.
I ordered the steak medium rare. It came out well done. Sent it back to the kitchen with better results this time.
We ordered the Cobb salad and the miniature lobster roll. The salad was good but the mini lobster roll @ $18 was way overpriced.
Overall a “nothing to write home about” experience. I doubt we’ll ever go back.
This is a beautiful spot on Battery Park City! The atmosphere was wonderful and had great selections for brunch. Living in the area this is a go to spot for me, especially in the summer!
Great food and great service on the Hudson River. 2 thumbs up!
I had a Fish & chip dishes and it wasn’t that fresh but the service was okay. Probably won’t go back again.
Amazing restaurant. Bradley is the best waiter
The food was of very poor quality for the price
Certainly did not live up to the expectations
Great service... portions are huge. The pretzel "appetizer" is for 3 people. 😁
Service was excellent our waiter Bradley was fantastic. The reservations was timely and they even gave us a choice for indoor or outdoor dining.
I had to ask for a fork and didn’t have a napkin. Everything else was right.
Very nice venue. I enjoyed my burger and alcoholic beverage. More chocolate on the dessert menu please. The view of the water is amazing.
I had amazing time!!! The staff treated us so kindly and genuinely checked up on us to make sure we were okay.... definitely coming back again 👏🏽 Also that Mac & cheese is so BOMB 💣
Considering the excellent location this meal was fantastic value compared to many other places we ate in New York
One of my local favorites. Incredible Hudson River view and fresh food combine to make even a business lunch a special occasion.
Wonderful service, and a great server who accommodated a move from the patio to the interior as a bad thunderstorm threatened
Great food, beautiful view and service exception
THE WAFFLE MAC AND CHEESE WAS DEFINITELY NOT WHAT I EXPECTED. THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE THE WAFFLE CONE OUT OF CORNBREAD MIX AS APOSE TO JUST A WAFFLE CONE. THAT WOULD HAVE TIED THE TASTE TOGETHER. THE TASTE OF THE MAC AND CHEESE ITSELF WAS ABOUT 3 out OF 5. THE VIEW WAS AMAZING IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL NIGHT. THE STAFF WAS ON POINT THEY CAME WHEN THEY NEEDED TO. ULTIMATELY YOU ARE PAYING FOR THE VIEW AND SERVICE NOT SO MUCH THE FOOD!
Very nice place to have a late dinner on the river.
Great experience, and amazing view. Would go there again.
Great view. Simple but good food. Really nice people working there.
Amazing service and great food. Drinks were okay.
Perfect spot for a romantic anniversary with my boyfriend. Great views of the fireworks on the Hudson and food was delicious!
Awesome river front outdoor venue with views of the Statue of Liberty. Great food and huge portions.
The menu on OpenTable was different than the menu they had. We made the reservations with a specific order in mind and was disappointed to find out they weren't serving it. We mentioned this to our server who blamed the owners and did little to resolve this disparity.
Great view, any non bottom shelf cocktail will run $15+ but others on the river charge $18. Good selection and quality, great patio if weather permits.
Unexpectedly good. Gabby the hostess was terrific. On a summer Saturday for late (1:30) brunch, it was quiet, gorgeous and the food was delicious. You pay for the view, but it was well worth it.
Visiting New York for a family reunion. Wanted to dine on the water with a view. You could not ask for a better view. Ellis island, Lady Libery, Jersey City clock, the Hudson a surprising pedestrian neighborhood two blocks from the WTC. The food and drinks top notch. Watermelon feta salad a real fresh surprise. A giant tasty pretzel and a fine burger with a great local lager made my day. Thank you.
Just amazing venue and food. The ultimate was the service. Bradley is amazing and took care of all 8 of us. He made our lunch the best. Always smiling and always asking if we needed more of anything. He is amazing person!!!#askforbradleystable
Wonderful! Usually good, but tonight great service, great food and fun atmosphere... Appreciated being seated outside as requested. Good overall vibe. Will be back again... Our out-of-town friends enjoyed too!
We love going to Merchants River House. The staff is excellent, the food always reliably good and the views superb. We frequently eat there and also order take-out. The salmon is especially delicious.
Wonderful setting overlooking the river. Casual, comfortable. Food and cocktails were very good but not outstanding. Service was a little slow but cordial.
We chose to sit inside because we had just walked a lot and wanted a bit of AC. We quickly regretted that decision when we realized how it was warmer in the restaurant than outside. To make matters worse the couple at the table next to us were constantly complaining about everything and I could tell staff members were trying their best but the couple was just outright rude and it dampened our experience listening to their incessant complaints about literally nothing. Drinks were great and food was also very tasty. Would recommend sitting outside if you plan to visit.
