Very good experience! Beautiful location right on the River, service was attentive, and food was very good. The random photographer was a little weird but I’d definitely recommend the restaurant.
absolutely amazing. the food is great, service is top notch, vibes are immaculate. i recommend this place to all.
Nice atmosphere and tasty food. Server might have been on the job for the first time but an overall nice experience.
We are not from New York. Servers and hostess look down their noses at us. We won’t return.
The view and food are amazing! However, the server’s attitude put a sour taste in me and my friend’s mouths. The not so enthusiastic server is the only reason for less than 5 stars.
This is a good place to have dinner in lower Manhattan with a river view. An unexpected storm blew in and the staff stood outside over a large family and held umbrellas over them. The restaurant was too small to move them inside. These guys went out of their way to help this poor family. We were really impressed with the staff.
Great location and view! Good value, as well. Will definitely recommend to friends visiting that area.
Bad wifi and few outlets
It had beautiful view, helpful staff, amazing food
Slow waiter, delicious food! Worth it
This was our first time here at Merchants River House. We sat outside to enjoy the weather. The food was excellent. Our service was alright. We were seated immediately and placed our drinks and appetizer order which came out quickly. After that our server kind of disappeared. Eventually another server arrived and took our entree orders. Aside from that, there were no complaints. The managerial staff stopped by our table at least twice to check in on our evening. I would definitely eat there again.
Do something about the bathroom lines! Staff waiting on tables took too long to bring items requested. For the price paid for their starter appetizers $17 for spinach dip that was not worth that price. Half would have been better.
The weather was nice so we ate outside, with views of the river and the Esplanade. Service was efficient and friendly, food was very good. Reasonable for NYC
Ice machine not working for frozen drinks
Asked for a birthday dessert on opentable reservation no dessert was provided
Steak took over 35 mins to come out
Starting with the rat that ran behind me, there were flies, bees, nats, and mosquitos everywhere including our food that was inedible and cold. This restaurant has so much hope from the outside but it does not live up to the image portrayed
Other than being impossible to find, we had a reservation for indoor seating but was sat outside, not a big deal. Then they didn’t have the seasonal Sam Adam’s IPA, then they were “out” of the steak.
Once our food arrived we then had to wait at least 4 minutes for someone to bring us silverware and the additions to our meals. Service was below mediocre.
Overall pretty disappointing place. If it’s a date or a special occasion you might be better offer choosing somewhere else.
Great food and service. Nice views.
Wonderful lunch with a group of girls, great stuff waitress and food
Lovely setting right by the water! Yummy food! Lovely patio
Shout out to Mercedes!!!!! You were fabulous!!!! Thanks again.
Great waterview dining. Just north of Battery Park so we paired it with our trip to the Statue of Liberty. Relaxed dining with delicious burgers. A nice find off the main roads!
The ambiance and the view are excellent, but the food is average. The batter used for the avocado fries is a little too think.
I am getting used to the service by wait staff in NY - we are all learning from each other.
Food was good, mac n cheese waffles also very good. Server was attentive but busboys were in such a hurry to clean the table. I was not done with my soup and they already wanted to remove my plate, also happened with appetizers and wine glasses when we still had some wine in the bottle. Appetizers and main entree came all at once.
Everyone was cordial and they checked on us very often! It was great. Food was pretty good as well - no argument there. Level of service was in point. I would dine again
Food was good but restaurant seemed dirty
Extremely disappointed with the overall experience at Merchant. Was looking forward to celebrating a party of 6 with a bit more bang for the buck. Unfortunately, the food was underwhelming, the drinks were lacking and, the state of the restrooms was filthy. The overall experience was average at best.
The service was really good and very much appreciated. The ambiance was nice but, all in all, my family and I were not particularly fond of the dining experience.
Wonderful meal. All 6 of our party enjoyed the meal. Staff was super attentive
great tasting and quality food. drinks were watered down. waitress forgot about our table for over an hour
Service was subpar. I understand we are in rough times, but you would expect at least a little decency for the service industry in general. They were out of some core menu staples, and the appetizers came with dinner instead of before. But the food we actually ate was great! So if you are willing to set aside appropriate for good food id say dine here but there are plenty or comparable restaurants in this area with great food and great service.
Inside and outside dining with great water views. Food was excellent with impressive presentation. Reasonable Manhattan pricing for the value.
nice to eat with water view.
staff very friendly
waitress rather slow with bringing food
coffee not hot
Gorgeous day so it worked out nicely to sit outside but wait staff don’t wear masks so it’s a little off putting now. My food had to be sent back for more cooking. Ordered a salad with steak medium (lightly pink) and it came more like rare to med rare and blood on plate. They do put it separate so I was glad that wasn’t bleeding on my salad.
Inferior service and attention staff was confused. Good very ordinary. You'll long time btw courses.
Service, apps, drinks and entrees were all outstanding and the view couldn’t have been better!
Since there were no outdoor reservations left, we reserved an indoor table that had a lovely view of the river, and the promenade. We were asked to show our vax cards which was great because even though we’re all vaxxed, being inside was a concern as one of our party is more vulnerable than the others. The food was delicious, was served in generous /healthy portions and priced just about what I expected. The staff was very attentive and courteous.
Super view, laid back but attentive staff, and great food. Best lobster roll south of Maine. Try the avocado fries and the octopus.
The server must have been new. Mixed up our order and didn’t really know what to do. No manager concern. Probably won’t go back.
Good Food. Convenient Location. Friendly Staff. Recommend.
Food was chain restaurant quality, terrible slow service. No mention of the birthday cake I requested
Had a lovely view of sunset over Hudson River/NY Harbor. Friendly staff. They were put of several menu items including Mac-n-Cheese cones and roasted chicken. Which I had wanted. Nice experience.
